FAQs about hotels in Manila

The City of Our Affections

With a rich mix of influences from Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American cultures, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic center. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonization, Manila became an important city, known as the "Pearl of the Orient."

Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.

Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila “The City of Our Affections,” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.

Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.

For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City.

I think my experience of Manila is unfortunately a sad one,...

I think my experience of Manila is unfortunately a sad one, the people have been very unfriendly to me. They pretend to not understand me, frequently ignore me no matter where I go with my Fiancé. I will try to get a taxi and say "Little Baguio Terrace" after three cabs just look at me confused; I just walked the 1.5 miles to where I was staying. If we are eating in a restaurant I will start ordering and they talk to me 100% in Tagalog, and I tell them I don't understand, and they start talking to my Fiancé. If I'm busy talking with my soon to be stepdaughter, or even my fiancé they just start talking to her and ignore me. Manila is not English speaking friendly no matter what the internet says.

There was nothing in Manila at Makati I enjoyed I thought the people were arrogant a bunch of liars and the older people were very rude. Here in the United States we try to respect other nationalities you won't get that in Manila you're treated like a stranger that they would like to see leave as soon as possible I would never go back there

Manila is a steamy, claustrophobic city that is both dirty and chaotic. In fact it is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Avoid going in the hotter months, as anything outside is impossible. There is nothing of any great repute to see, and unless you live there or have friends there it is difficult to know the best places to eat or spend time at. My suggestion would be to skip Manila and fly onto one of the many islands

Edsa Shangri-La has consistently ranked as my preferred accommodation in Manila. Renowned for its opulence and unrivaled service, this esteemed 5-star hotel leaves no room for disappointment. Nice hotel. Location was good (it is near to the airport and also close to a lot of malls in shopping centers) it is in walking distance of Terminal 3 (international flights). You might not get the "Manila experience" as the airport is outside of the city center but other than that the hotel is like nicely located. If you are hoping to bridge a longer layover this's a perfect hotel to stay in it has a gym pool and some facilities and there are some casinos and malls to go to.

Great hotel for the price. Excellent location. Very close to SM mall of Asia & the airport. We landed in Manila at 1am and checked out by 1pm the next day (it was only a stopover until our flight to Palawan) but I would definitely return if we return to the Philippines in the future. Staff were nice and friendly and the rooms were clean. It’s far from luxury but it was perfect for what we needed it for.

Great value for money. It was probably half the cost of its competitors but in a better location. The customer service and access to parking made my stay very comfortable. The best part was the location. I will rebook at this hotel next time I'm in Manila because it's close to Greenhills, Makati and Quezon City. The room was spacious. The hotel is in a convenient location opposite the mall and with fast food restaurants,.7 Eleven and Starbucks nearby. It took 30 mins to get to and from the hotel from the airport by taxi. This was my first night in the Philippines so I had nothing to compare it to.
