FAQs about hotels in Riyadh

The Capital of Old and New

The Saudi Arabian capital, sprawling Riyadh is a mix of historic monuments and ultra-modern skyscrapers. On a plateau surrounded by desert, it is one of the Middle East’s richest cities, so there are several 5-star hotels in Riyadh.

This wealth is also evident in modern architecture, particularly the Kingdom Centre, a perfectly sculpted building looking strangely like a bottle opener. Lit at night, it has an observation deck offering fantastic city views.

On its bottom floor is a shopping mall, and there is another within Al Faisaliyah, the country’s 1st skyscraper. Riyadh is a shopping paradise and yet more malls are on wide, palm-lined King Fahd Road. This king also gave his name to King Fahd Stadium, home of the Saudi football team.

Unusually for a capital, King Khalid International Airport is right in the city centre and there are lots of Riyadh hotels near the airport on Booking.com. South, in Al Murabba, is the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, site of the Saudi Arabia National Museum. Further south in Dirah is 19th-century Al-Masmak fort with souks and mosques nearby.

Wherever you stay, remember that Saudi Arabia is a deeply Islamic country and that local customs should be respected. Men and women may not be able to access attractions at the same time.

Everything is far from each other and traffic is really bad. Kareem is too expensive and most of the time you get extra charges that you cannot do anything about it. Lots of big malls but all of the more or less copy paste of each other in terms of brands.

Riyadh is a very big place to hang around and you might never be able to book a stay long enough to discover it in its full. The other thing is that Riyadh is a more liberal place for people to be around, just like a lot of big cities around the world you can see all kinds of different people with different background wandering the streets even though Islamic law prevails, they are not as tough on appearing rules as they may be on the smaller villages and towns in Saudi Arabia. Just don't do anything an ordinary family (member) would not do and don't mingle in religious affairs and you will be safe.

This is a fast-developing country with ambitions to improve the socio-economic status in the region, so there is no doubt it is already standing out with its infrastructure and its plans for growth in tourism and global awareness. Shopping and a little bit of nature are a must if you would like to immerse yourself in the local culture. On the flip side it is becoming very modern and open to all creeds and cultures with parks, concerts, fairs etc. Language is not necessarily a barrier, as is in most parts of the world, so don't let that stop you. Best times to travel are during the winter months in Saudi Arabia.

The city still needs more improvement, heavy traffic is killing the city and killing any plans also the car drivers there are very reckless, The LEAP event was established around 90KM from the city center where all the people can find hotels or houses it was literally in the middle of the desert without any restaurants and cafes, also prices in restaurants and coffeeshop are expensive compared to other Gulf cities like Doha or Dubai, In general it is not that bad but if you travelled before to Qatar, UAE and Oman and expecting the same experience you might feel disappointed, hopefully the new vision to Improve Riyadh and to make the new business capital will be in place and Riyadh will be better keeping in mind that 6-7 years ago nothing was there and the city improved a lot since then

Situated in a prime area of Riyadh, it offers convenient access to various attractions and amenities. Whether I needed to explore the city, visit shopping malls, or attend business meetings, everything seemed to be within easy reach. Fairly good hotel at the hear of Riyadh. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. The rooms were good and spacious enough and the bed was comfy. The hotel is quite and clean. The reception people are friendly and helped us get an extension for check out till 6 pm for an additional of SAR 100. There is a nice coffee shop attached to the hotel (November Cafe). You get two complimentary water bottle at the room. It is a traditional hotel not like the global chain hotels in terms of luxury and facilities but it was good.

I flew into Riyadh late at night and just needed a place to stay overnight before catching a flight to AlUla early the next morning. There aren't a lot of hotel options in and around the airport, and of the few hotels, most are very pricey. This hotel was the best option in terms of value and proximity to the airport. Front desk person was very friendly and offered me a welcome drink. The room was big (I would later discover this to be the case in all the hotels I booked in Saudi!), clean and very comfortable.

This hostel is excellent, the receptionist and people are friendly, helpful. The facilities are cleaned daily. They provide linens, towel, toiletries, slippers, lockers, free wifi. The location of the hostel is near from the airport and center city. The place is secure and safe with cctv. And through registered fingerprint on the door lock, can enter and go out on your own convenience. I had the best experience in the hostel and I will come again on my next trip to Riyadh. Highly recommended.
