A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye...
A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye known by those who visit the coast. Kurdish, not Turkish, with Christian buildings going back to the fourth century and a culture that encompasses many religions and languages. A good base for a day trip (with guide) to Midyat and other local sites. Plenty of restaurants, serving wide variety of foods. Wine shops, selling local wines, but no bars in the old town.
Really wish we had read more before going. Pictures show the beautiful pale-coloured buildings climbing up the hillside but not the fact that the 'roads' are more often steps. Wonderful small narrow streets, a copper bazaar where people were at work, incredible churches, mosques and madrasas - but you need to have good hips and knees!
An excellent Hamam, open for men mornings and evenings, for women in the afternoons.
For anyone interested in early Christianity, in cultural melting pots, or in somewhere unlike most tourist towns, Mardin and Midyat, and the necropolis at Dara, the area is exceptional. Allow about four days and bring sensible shoes.
Good and cheap bus service from the airport, no need to use taxis.

This was the second time to visit Mardin, this time during a small road trip. Mardin is a place were you don not see Western people. Please do not mention it, otherwise it will ruined as other old citys. Atmosfere specicial on the market is like 200years old. Views are amazing, and most important the people.

Mardin is beautiful and ancient and wonderful.
Mardin is beautiful and ancient and wonderful. Everyone was so friendly - I never encountered even one person who wasn't kind and gracious.
I think the only down side to Mardin is all of the litter. Although I saw several workers cleaning, it seems the people of Mardin don't understand the impact of throwing you trash out the window, which I saw a lot of.
Nonetheless, I loved Mardin. The history, the people, the general feel... wonderful! I will return!
Everything exceeded our expectations. Atmosphere of the hotel corresponds to that of the town. You feel like in an ancient castle!
Spacious room, clean bathroom and toilet, beautiful view and of course - the amazingly hospitable host Nuh. He arranged everything we needed, a tour around the region, taxis and transfers.
The breakfast was traditional and plentiful. The location of the hotel is perfect- walking distance to all sights in Mardin. Wi-Fi is perfect even in the rooms. We definitely recommend Carra Konagi and will return for sure.
Really enjoyed our time at Dara Konagi in the old part of Mardin. The hotel itself has lots of character and the architecture of the place is very authentic and old-school Mardin, so that was in itself nice to be able to experience living in. The two terraces that the hotel boasts from are great places to hang out – especially early morning and in the evenings when the temperatures have cooled off a bit. The room was nice, spacious and cool and the breakfast served every morning also really good. Highly recommended.
This hotel was cosy and unique. It definately gave the Mardin vibes you needed! The view from the rooftop terrace was the best part for me. The rooms are decent and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and Mardin has the best Cay! Host was kind enough let us select our rooms. I was pleasantly surprised by the door key and iron bar securing the door from the inside. Takes one back to the past! Location is great and near old Mardin shops and restaurants.
The breakfast is excellent and very rich. The location is also great so you can enjoy your meal overlooking the Mesopotamian plain. All facilities and locations are available and very close. The hotel staff is very friendly, and especially the host of the hotel helped me a lot, he took me around Mardin, explained where I can move around the city and the like. I'm sure I'll be back again. I definitely recommend this hotel.
The best part of our stay were Nuh Bey and his team! They represent the culture and nature of the region, which we fell in love with.
Nuh Bey does his best to accommodate the guests and make them feel like at home. He gave us a tour of a few places in Mardin, and helped us find a restaurant to celebrate the NY.
The hotel is located in the very center of Mardin, so a good place to reach all historical sites of the city.
Great location within eski Mardin. Located right under the Ulu mosque. The home is 600 years old and very beautiful it also manages to stay cool even when it was 40 C 100 F outside! Great terrace with a Mesopotamia view. Close to all the sites and restaurants but still on a very quiet street. The host was excellent, extremely available and attentive to anything we needed.
We loved everything about this place, the rooms the bathrooms, the views, proximity to everything, the breakfast, and the staff are SUPER NICE with great English and gave us a good breakdown of the history of the hotel as well as the surrounding areas.
This hotel is the best experience we've had in Turkey, super memorable.
Location wise, it is one of the best hotels in the region. It is close to the main street, shops, restaurants and to other historic places.
Hotel has nice view of the valley. People at reception are very helpful.
All rooms are independent and access to the rooms are from open air hall. Different atmosphere..
the room was as ancient as it looked. It suited the atmosphere of the city. The host was smiling, friendly and attentive. The location was excellent, it is possible to leave the house and walk around the old Mardin. The host made tea and coffee for us several times. Breakfast was prepared in a large portion
Everything was very nice and the manager was extremely helpful with tips and he also organised and guided a full day tour!
Location is literally the best one in whole Mardin, placing the hotel in the middle of the main walking/shopping street and very close to all of the interest points.
Location of the hotel is nice, there is a parking lot next to it but get ready to pay extra. Room was not very clean and the worst part is there is no hot water. Breakfast at the terrace was ok but service and hotel staff are not attentive and slow.
a small boutique-style hotel with castle and plain views, there was everything to meet our needs in the room, the staff was friendly and Kindly , I felt like I was in my own home, mardine is one of the first places I would prefer if I returned
Amazing architecture. Very nicely modernized rooms. Terrace with the Mesopotamia view is wonderful. Breakfast is very tasteful with large selection. Location is very good for sightseeing in old Mardin.
Very beautiful hotel in the center of Mardin.
the room was very clean and towels and bed sheets were very clean as well.
very nice and friendly staff!
