Coziness. I could sit at the veranda all day and just watch the view and sip authentic Zanzibari coffee. The vast ocean is few steps away from the doorstep and this home is definitely located in a heart of Jambiani. Great access to the beach. Great staff. Good vibe. Something that tells you-pole pole-just relax and keep watching the ocean. Or the Sunrises!

This traditional Zanzibar-style house is located in the Jambiani village, on a private, palm-lined beach. It offers a terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean and a communal living/dining area. Large, carved sultan beds and ceilings woven from banana leaves typify the traditional character of each room at The Vanilla House. Three rooms have a private bathroom while 2 rooms share a bathroom. Breakfast at The Vanilla includes fruits, fresh juice, eggs or pancakes. Dinner is available from 18:00 till 20:00, and various local bars serve cold drinks for refreshment. Guest can relax on the large terrace. Staff can assist with arranging activities such as sightseeing, diving, boat cruises, swimming with dolphins and cooking workshops. The house is decorated in Swahili style with elements woven from the palm leaves (makuti) with typical Zanzibar furniture such as carved large sultan's beds or chairs made from cow skin by local people.
Vanilla House has been built by Dorota Katende, an African Safari & Zanzibar Island guide and author of “Dom na Zanzibarze” (“The House on Zanzibar”) book.
