Location made it easy to get everywhere from old town to down town. Staff very helpful and friendly, bus service outside door great. Waffles fab highly recommend. Room quiet and spacious, pool clean
Staff was exceptionally nice. Pool and room clean. Free coffee was a bonus.
No continental breakfast. The food at the Amigo Spot and Waffel House was poor for the price.
The hotel is excellent
Restaurants are too crowded and have a poor service for the price.
I loved the location, the 60's vibe, and the kidney shaped pool. Having the dining amenities on site was a definite plus. Loved the food at both the Amigo Spot and the Waffle Spot! I will definitely stay here again...loved it!!!
The bathroom was way too small and the shower head didn't put out enough water for my taste.
Enjoyed the central location, able to get around San Diego easily from this hotel. The linen and pillows were so comfortable and plush. The pool area had plenty of seating with umbrellas and tables. The Amigo Spot had delicious Margaritas. Could not ask for anything more. Will definitely stay again.
Carpet needs replacing.
The room smelled musty.
Wi-fi connection was bad Beds were incomfortable
air conditioning unit was very noisy walk ways outside of rooms were noisy bathroom was very small, could hardly get in an close the door.
Noisy air conditioner
We like the staff, the cleanliness, both restaurant and 5 miles from the beach.
excellent location-very clean-friendly staff, great bargain.
Clean, free parking, comfortable enough
Location not close to downtown
noise from the street
Quality, value and great service year in and year out. One of the best deals in San Diego.
Excellent helpful staff and very friendly. Very clean and good continuous cleaning service as we woke up in afternoons in some days.
Limited hours for laundry room but I guess that for safety reasons. Wifi was sometimes unstable (30 mins between 11:00 pm - 11:30 pm)
Restored/refurbished 1960s motel. Beautiful pool, nice hot tub, relaxed atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. GREAT waffles at The Waffle Spot (get there early). Beds were comfy, room well furnished. Good value for the price.
Highway noise (our room was on the side closest to the highway and it IS California) Seriously cramped bathroom (almost like an afterthought) WiFi marginal No guide for TV channels Would pay more for a larger room if staying more than one night, and yes, I would stay again!
Great location for local attractions such as Seaworld and the zoo!
The carpets in the room were dirty leaving us with black feet/socks. The rest of the room and bathroom was clean though.
The restaurants were very good!! Customer service was great and the shuttle bus stop right out front was convenient to get to the mall or Old Town Station.
July prices way too high...used booking.com. The rooms set over the parking lot and hotel was too close to the interstate. A bit noisy due to that. Restaurants and pool closed too early as well as the restaurants at nearby hotels. Shuttle bus also stopped running too early. Hotel staff didn't always have the most correct info on somethings. Ex; Sea World tickets/prices, was told they would be $50.00 at the park due to 50th anniversary as opposed to $59.00 at hotel. When trying to pay for them at S.W. turned out that was on-line purchase only w/coupon printed out. Was charged regular price of $84.00. Bus transportation info could have been more adequate as well. Was told the mall was just a short walk but not really...plus on the other side of freeway. Staff should have just said to purchase the all day bus/trolley ticket as they knew we were not renting a car and then picking up the shuttle right out front to ride over to Fashion Valley Mall. Trolley station is right there as well. The cost to use lobby computer/printer. With everything closing early, there were no fast food places nearby and the little 24 hour market nearby was way too pricey as well as vending machines items were way overpriced..
We were here for 2 nights and the location was excellent - a short drive from the San Diego Zoo and other tourist spots. Staff were helpful and the room was very clean. Breakfast is not included but the restaurant in the hotel is great for pancakes, waffles etc (portions are large). The hotel has a decent pool and a great hot tub and provides separate towels for this on request. Overall we had a great time and would love to visit again.
Fairly quiet at night. Beds were not to bad to sleep on.
They only give you two wash cloths for 4 people. The pool is not heated to 80 degrees. They should offer a free breakfast.
Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff was fantastic. The Waffle Spot was great. I was surprised how quiet it was in the morning.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Responded quickly when TV didn't work. Fixed it right away
The carpets were filthy. Feet turned black quickly and there was a musty smell that followed me home. Staff said the carpets were due to be replaced
The staff were exceptionally friendly, and always willing to help. They provided us with great advice about places to see in San Diego.
It's a bit of a drive to the different sites around San Diego but not a major issues.
