Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.
The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.
Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.
“I liked that I didn't need to use my personal blankets that I took from home, in case I found unwanted surprises on the beds like my experiences in other hotels. This hotel actually has very clean beds and sheets.”
“The customer care of ALL of your employees was Excellant.. Especially Rosie Anic when she sent us a nice Happy 50th Anniversary note and champagne and fresh fruit. That was such a pleasant surprise..! We have lived in California for years and The Del is the best "Jewel" in the state!”
“Very friendly staff especially frontline & their shuttle us driver very obliging”
“everything. Is a prefect place to stay, not too big but with big rooms, super cozy bed, great pool, good ambiance. If you like boutique hotels, it is a very good example!!”
“Comfortable and close to everything in Pacific Beach.”
“The views over the ocean from our surf pad, JRDN restaurant, the bed was fabulous!”

“The hotel is well located if you are interested in visiting the beach, the zoo and Torey Pines to hike. Easy walk to restaurants and fantastic if your family enjoys walking, running or cycling. They offer on site parking and serve chilled water and apples all day long. The staff is friendly and helpful.”

“Thank you Mr. Rod, for all your help!”
“Really good location, just five minutes walk to the USS midway museum. The harbor is great for morning and evening strolls. Excellent seafood place right across the street (Anthiny's fish grotto). Or you can walk to the seaport village for a wide variety of cuisines.”
“Location on hotel circle gave good access to San Diego at a competitive price. Free car parking was more than adequate (we had had to pay $25/night for parking at city centre hotel on previous evening) Restaurant provided more than adequate choice at reasonable prices.”
“Outside of the Gas Lamp area, I like staying at hotels in the Hotel Circle area. The price is economical and the hotels in this area are all within a mile of items of interest (Sea World, trolley, mall, restaurants). I've also stayed at other thrifty hotels further out in San Diego (Kearney Mesa) and they were miles from anything of interest.”
“Everything was perfect as a 1st time guest of this hotel. The location is perfect as I was right on the beach and had access to everything imaginable in that area, from restaurants to tge beach and pier itself. I will definitely stay here every time I'm in San Diego! !”
“The hotel is on Hotel Circle which makes it very easy to get to just about every part of San Diego within a few minutes drive. Also, the staff was as kind as could be.”
“It was on Hotel Circle making it close to everything you want in San Diego.”
