Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

I was surprised to see the increase of homelessness and visible drug and alcohol use on the streets, since our last visit in 2018. Once we were used to driving, getting around town was easy, but not quick.

Outstanding hike (tour) with a. Great host.
Jon, our hike guide, was an absolute hoot! He provided fabulous historical information, in a Very entertaining and engaging way. He was attentive to each member of the group and his fun and energetic personality was an absolute delight!
Jon took some AMAZING photos of us throughout the hike, especially the pictures in front of the Hollywood sign, absolute magic!
The view was so clear that we could see Catalina Island, and Jon made sure we all knew what we were looking at from the vantage point with clear descriptions and amusing anecdotes.
I never imagined a hike up a hill could be so much fun.
Absolutely recommend this hike, and Jon, he was fabulous!

Everything is so spread out, uber rides are Long to get anywhere and can be pricey. Smells like urine in alot of tourist destinations - maybe due to the homeless population? People not as friendly as other places like las vegas or anaheim. Drivers are insane.

We love coming to L.A. to watch sporting events, especially football at Sofi. There is a lot going on all the time! We've used the Metro numerous times and it is very inexpensive. Having said that, you need to be aware of your surroundings, and the time of day as there are a lot of homeless and mentally ill that ride the train and can be a little unnerving.
There are lots of beautiful parts to L.A., like Malibu Beach, Newport , Huntington and Laguna beaches. Plan to spend at least 2 to 3 days exploring the coast and its gorgeous beaches/sunsets! Great reprieve from the city chaos.
I highly recommend going to the Observatory if you like Astronomy and walking through the greenery with great views of DTLA.
There are lots of great street food trucks for quick eats, or some Ramen and Sushi places.
We enjoyed the Yard House, Joey DTLA, Zinque,

Buying anything is expensive, so take into account any impulsive purchases, transportation, events, reservations, and food into your budget. There were a ton of public parking options, so I highly recommend checking out the most affordable around your stay.

Wow! Just lovely. A cool vibey hotel with lots going on in the evenings. Great location that felt safe. A short walk to the heart of the touristy part of Hollywood. We walked around until nightfall then got an Uber back to the hotel. We parked in the multi-storey car park on the corner of Argyle Ave and Carlos Ave, which worked out cheaper than hotel parking. We booked a Suite, which was perfect for us and the teens. We requested a roll out bed too as the sofa bed was too small to share. Very spacious.
You would only stay here for universal and it’s a short walk away, so that’s good. I think the extra charges for parking are too much considering the hotel is not cheap. It was clean, that’s all we needed. The area around the hotel is not nice and I wouldn’t walk around there if I had kids with me.
The hotel is conveniently located near the airport. It can be reached with their shuttle, which is free and easy to spot when it passes by the departure area of LAX. The room was very large and had all we needed: modern design and a large comfortable bed. Considering LA prices, it is fairly cheap.
This is a very good choice if you want to stay near the airport in Los Angeles. The staff are friendly and there was a very welcome selection of free beverages in the reception area. The bedroom was huge and very modern, with a great TV. The price paid was reasonable for a stay near the hotel.
It was cheap and cheerful . It wasn’t too far from Venice beach - walkable and bus stop near by hotel .
The room was at the back and quiet .
The room was spacious.
Check in were friendly and helpful .
It was much better to stay here than at the airport hotel overnight .it was clean
