Pros: Stayed at the Park Plaza Lodge in the Fairfax area. The Grove Shopping and the Farmers Market is walking distance from the hotel. Good place to shop and dine. Two blocks from the hotel is SK Donuts and Croissant for breakfast. Best donuts I've ever had, breakfast sandwiches are amazing, pick up only. Bring to Pan Pacific Park to eat at a bench. The Getty Museum is a must see, parking is $20 and entrance is free. We spent most of the day walking the museum and the grounds. The Griffith Observatory is the other attraction we liked. You can hike the trails around the observatory. The views of the city from both attractions are great. Bring your walking shoes. Cons: traffic, driving in 7 lane freeways is a challenge. give yourself extra time to arrive to your destination. Air pollution, I was disappointed that we did not have a clear blue sky day. Expensive, taxes in California are high. Some places are dirty and not how they make them look on TV.
Lots to see & do with excellent, affordable, well connected public transportation to places of interest. Hollywood & surrounds, Santa Barbra, theme parks, Venice Beach, Marina Del Ray, etc. Airport can be confusing & extremely busy, allow extra time for connections.
We went to LA on a birthday trip for my sister-in-law and spent time at Universal, Disneyland, and spent some time driving around sightseeing. Each area of the city seems to have its own individual identity and is full of character. I will note that the customer service at the restaurants we visited wasn't very good in general - from ordering and receiving drinks/food everything seemed to take an unusually long time compared to what we are used to. Overall though we enjoyed ourselves and would certainly visit more often.
We had a lot of inconvenience because it was legal to use weed and the homeless were too high in some popular locations. There were so many homeless people, especially in the subway, and it was scary. As transportation, it may be better to choose bus or overground options and travel closer to the beach and on the west hollywood side. Universal studios should not be missed. For the food don't miss in n out burger and central market.
We stayed just behind the Dolby Theatre off Hollywood Boulevard. The subway is easy to operate and very cheap. I personally think three days in LA is sufficient to see the main sights (not including Disneyland, which is in Anaheim about 1 hour’s taxi ride, depending on the traffic). Universal studios is a must. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to get an idea of the size and layout of the city. Personally we didn’t have a car and didn’t need one, as we used the subway, bus and one day the hop on hop off bus.
I’m certainly not in Iowa anymore Malibu Sunshine Beach, along with Bigfoot Sport Malibu. I have not experienced too many traffic jams do too the Excellent Los Angeles area Publuc transportation. Culver City, Los Angeles
it’s the closest cheap hotel to beverly hills and close to lax. it’s pretty dated but the beds are clean and super comfortable. there’s also ample parking and it’s in a safe area. the staff were amazing ! I left an expensive set of headphones in the bed and they went out of their way to get them back to me. if you want to be in a central location close to everything and save some cash, this is the place for you ! we were working the grammys and it was a perfect base camp for our suburbans.
Location was good. Around the corner from Capital Records and the start of Hollywood Boulevard. Included breakfast (although limited) was very handy, which is pretty rare to find in hotels of this kind. Handy CVS pharmacy and 7/11 up the road. Close to the Hollywood Hills sign and Griffith Observatory. Street parking was pretty easy to find with cheap meter parking up until a certain time, so it’s free overnight - just check the signs. Would probably stay there again.
A very nice hotel with big rooms, a swimming pool and a spa. Our room was big with a massive TV and refrigerator. The beds were very comfy. The location is close to the LAX airport and far from Downtown Los Angeles. That’s wasn’t an issue for us as we rented a car from nearby the airport. The staff were very polite and friendly. The breakfast that was served was excellent. And there are plenty of shops nearby. We enjoyed our stay and we definitely would stay over again.
Location is really good, it is not so far from the airport, downtown, Hollywood, yet this hotel is on the beachfront looking to the yacht harbor. You must choose rooms with harbor view (and not city view). The third floor is excellent. Rooms are cozy, very clean and pretty new. The breakfast is a la carte, it is not included. Price range: $17-22 + coffee + juice. Good choice, good taste. Excellent view from the terrace.
Los Angeles
– Amazing owner and staff: always helpful, giving good advise where to go in LA, making place comfortable to live and trying their best. I also got a tour around the hostel – provided towels, linen/sheets – area is a hub to go anywhere(downtown, Hollywood or the beach) – huge backyard I am thankful for staff and roommates I had!
Room size was small but not unique for a "boutique" hotel in downtown L.A. The best hat rack display anywhere. Didn't love the dinner menu so we skipped. The bar/restaurant seemed properly staffed (4-6) but we waited for quite a while to get two (2) drinks in the bar area after 7:30 PM.
What a beautiful old hotel hidden in the middle of the downtown towers. It was so lovely that it was like a museum on its own. A beautiful coffee area in the old entrance that was such a pleasure to have coffee in. Fantastic room size, comfortable bed, large bathroom. I look forward to staying again.
I am usually a buy the cheapest hotel I can find kind of person and although I did think it was a bit pricey, it was so worth the safety and cleanliness I felt. the staff was great, awesome location, very clean room. I think it’s the best deal you’re going to get in that area. would stay here again!
Excellent ambience, excellent staff, and the Pilot Restaurant was phenomenal, delicious and exquisitely lighted and located on the property. There was beautiful décor in the rooms with an amazing view of downtown Los Angeles. I loved everything about this hotel and I will definitely be back.
Hollywood, Los Angeles
We liked that everywhere no rug was used (clean). The location directly at Hollywood Blvd and directly opposite the underground railway are a big plus. The breakfast area is more spacious then in the hostel before. The parking lot right behind hostel is relatively cheap (20,- $).
Los Angeles
Nice location, not too far by car from anywhere, Hollywood, downtown LA, Venice Beach. Very friendly manager who has a vast knowledge of the area, and very helpful in giving advise, best routes, parking areas, etc. I would definitely stay here again if ever back in LA.
The location was great, in the middle of downtown so there was a lot to do within walking distance. The coffee. and cock tails I ordered at the hotel were really delightful. The entire lounge area was really. cool to hang out in and spend time enjoying.
Venice Beach, Los Angeles
Location is nice near the beach in downtown Venice. It is also one of the cheaper places to stay in the area. I had a private room which is good size and I found very comfortable
I like that everything is within short distance of this hotel.y boyfriend and I took some bird scooters and drive them around campus and the downtown area.
The hotel was right on the beach in the heart of the entertainment area. The receptionist was extremely helpful, helping me in with my heavy bags.
One positive aspect was that the hotel was quite close to the major airports of Los Angeles.
Exceptional stay, Sheraton is the best spot to go when visiting Downtown Los Angeles.
best hotel/motel outside downtown LA.
