Kimpton Everly Hotel

Kimpton Everly Hotel

Hollywood, Los Angeles

Set in Los Angeles in Hollywood, a 2 minute walk from the Capitol Records Building, Kimpton Everly Hotel features a year-round outdoor pool. The three sheet bed was wonderfully comfortable as was the selection of pillows. The bathrooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. We loved the bar/lobby area. The Christmas decorations/Hannukah room were fantastic. We brought our 2 1/2 year old grandson up to have a look and approve, and he also loved the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to be back very soon.

Plaza la Reina

Plaza la Reina

Westwood, Los Angeles

Plaza La Reina is located in Westwood Village, close to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. This hotel offers guest rooms with free WiFi and valet parking. The Getty Center is 3.1 mi away. Plaza la Reina is awesome - beautiful, clean, stylish, and well connected to the Westwood/UCLA area. The staff is fantastic - Troy at the front desk took ten minutes to talk to me about a driving tour of LA and when I had a minor mechanical issue in one room, they promptly relocated me into a bigger suite! The rooms I was in had washer-dryers and nicely stocked kitchens (dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, plates, cutlery... everything you need... and the cleaning staff took care of dishes in the sink too). This is the perfect base of operations for a week in LA, especially near UCLA. The rooms are not the cheapest in the world, but you can make it back easily by preparing some meals in the kitchen and you can travel light knowing there is a washer-drier. Love this place!

City of Angels

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.

Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.

And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.

Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
