The location was perfect for visitors to universal studios because it is a short walk. We did not use the shuttle they offered but that is a bonus to have.

Every time we visit Santa Monica we stay at the Huntley. They have impeccable customer service, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is exceptional. We stayed with them on Thanksgiving and ate at the Penthouse restaurant and it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time.

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
LA was great!
I want to review Booking.com itself
I was not impressed.
I left messages on the office manager’s voicemail for a return call.. never received a call. I also went onto booking.com to request an addl night..l was notified someone would contact me In 48 hours
I was never contacted. I had to end up having 2 reservations.. one through booking.com and one through the hotel bcuz l searched until l got a live person at the hotel to assist me. I don’t believe l will use booking. com in the future or recommend it.

LA is a city with a few nice touristic spots (e.g. Santa Monica, Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory) but some areas are not that safe (esp. downtown LA).
Public transportation is not that robust (maybe from a safety perspective…) so be prepared to drive or spend lots of money on Uber/Lyft.

I'm a native Californian 😌 and I love it here, sure the politics can be a bit of drag but we're so spoiled on eatery and entertainment options. I don't believe many can rival us well maybe New York, NY.
Traffic can also suck but as a native you can also figure out how best to commute.
Best places to stay at is Eagle Rock, Pasadena, south Pasadena and Glendale (although it is really congested with traffic.) All locations will have a great plethora of restaurants. In Eagle Rock: I love max BBQ city very close to southern style food in the middle of LA. Highland Park: Conzeluas restaurants (Authentic Salvadorian cuisine), south Pasadena: Twoheys phenomenonal place to take a date or family. American style food. Also Café X2O Mediterranean food. Glendale you have Why not Kabab. The Americana etc., Pasadena: restaurants: Fogo de Chao and Ruth Chris.

A highlight of this visit was a recommendation of a restaurant by the concerige at our Hotel, in Beverley Hills, Avra, specialises in Greek seafood. They have a set menu for lunch, $38 USD, and there is another one on the same street that specialises in Mexican food, but a few weeks in Cabo we were mexicaned out. However we don't find Los Angeles an inviting city, from now on we will transit and not visit, it's not overly enjoyable and there are just too many people.

The good: if you're driving, the location is nice. The area feels very safe, the houses around are nice, and it's not far to get into West Hollywood.
The house was pretty nice at one point in the past, and this is probably the cheapest chance you'll get to stay in the hills.(around 200USD per night)
It was a good location for Hollywood, parking was cheap at the side of Loews hotel didn’t park with the hotel as it was expensive but there is a multi storey car park right near the hotel which was 20 pound for overnight
Excellent location in the heart of Hollywood. Close to everything. Big Target 300m from the hotel. Walking distance to Hollywood walk of fame. Very nice pool area and a big was free parking in central Los Angeles.
There weren't other cheaper options around the time I booked the hotel. I booked tommie hollywood without hesitation. Great location. Very close to hollywood walk of fame and universal studio.
Hotel in quiet area not too far from all the sites in Hollywood
10-15mins walk to metro red line for downtown
