FAQs about hotels in Los Angeles

City of Angels

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.

Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.

And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present.  Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.

Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

I think most travellers plan their stay in LA for too long.

I think most travellers plan their stay in LA for too long. When you have a car you can see most if not all of the hightlights within a day a three. Landmarks like the Hollywood sign, Walk of fame, Santa Monica and Venice beach can all be done within a day. Add another day to see Beverly Hills, one or two museums and a visit to Koreatown and Thaitown for good food and you find yourself wondering what to do next. Kids might like to spend a day at either Disney or Universal, but doing them both is too much. For shopping visit the nearby Cabazon Outlets. Califorina has so much more to offer than just the cities. A visit to the national parks gives a way more memorable experience. Not to say that you should skip LA, but know there is more.

I lived in Los Angeles for over 8 years. Circumstances beyond my control required me to move away recently but I had a great time visiting this time around as a tourist. Look forward to visiting again soon.

We stayed in the neighbourhood of Fairfax/La Brea and it's everything you think of when you think of LA living. Gorgeous and safe. The Walk of Fame was quite dirty and sketchy. We were approached multiple times by homeless people. There constantly seemed to be police helicopters flying around. The block with TCL Theatre is nicely kept up and was nice to visit, but we went down to the 6400 block to see some of our fav celeb's stars there and it was pretty horrible. There are two smells in Hollywood - urine and pot. If you are sensitive to smells, you will not enjoy it. We did the Warner Brothers Studio Tour and highly recommend it. It had something for everyone. All in all it's sad to see how dirty and dilapidated Hollywood was. I would've thought the city would invest in this area a bit, given the huge tourist draw. It's hard to believe that at one time, it would've been a place celebrities would've been found. I'm glad we went to the Walk of Fame, but I definitely won't be back to that area. Next time I plan to explore La Brea/Fairfax more.

There is so much to do in LA.

There is so much to do in LA. We stayed in down town LA, but feel we would have seen more if we had stayed in Santa Monica. We have been over late Feb, we would come in Summer next time. Definitely check out Hollywood so much to look at. If we had more time we may have ventured for a drive along the coast to San Fran.

Our visit to LA was for museum visits.

Our visit to LA was for museum visits. In addition to art museums we visited the natural history museum and special art at LunaLuna carnival show. We like the variety of food options in the Grand Central Market food hall. We found the subway system clean and easy to use. We did rely on lyft auto service to get to the Getty Center which has special drop off/pickup area with benches and lighting. We took the amtrak train to and from LA Union Station. Did have poor meal in Fairfax Farmers Market so I cannot recommend it but that may be simply my choice of dining spot. Overall very good visit in LA.

Amazing food with lots of things to find and do. LA has many parts like Japan town was really nice. I disliked that it’s not to clean of a city and there’s a lot of homeless. Uber and city bikes are fairly priced.

Hotel and room were very clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. It's close enough to downtown L.A. without paying L.A. prices. We attended a concert near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and it was about a 20-25 minute Uber/Lyft ride to and from the concert. All the staff was excellent, from the front desk to the wait/bar staff to the morning breakfast buffet. Great job! Scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, toast or bagel, some fresh fruit, coffee, O.J. or apple juice, very satisfying to start your day.

The hotel is located in Los Angeles downtown and If you have plans in this part of the city the location is very convenient. Sightseeing bus stop is just 50 m from the main entrance. Grammy museum and arena are located just across the street. Rooms are spacious and bed is a really king size. Bathrobe and slippers will make your stay more comfortable. Reception staff is welcoming and responsive. In my opinion this hotel is a value for money in LA for those who don't like splashing money out.

Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles is an outstanding establishment. Provided me with excellent customer service and support. Friendly atmosphere and staff was very professional and supportive with all request. Thanks for the genuine support in providing me with a great experience. I would like to recognize De’Kwon Dorian, Brandon (Valet Parking) and Nashua who ensured I was taking care of the moment I checked into the hotel. Overall, very satisfied with the services. Will visit again Thank You.

The hotel was nicely designed. I did not get to go to the rooftop area or visit the restaurants but the bedroom was nice and the bathroom was very modern. The bed was super comfortable probably the best bed I have ever slept on; pillows were bounce back pillows and I had a lovely good nights sleep. The location is great; easy access to sunset boulevard, Hollywood walk of fame and Beverley Hills. The hotel staff were friendly and I received a voucher for complimentary drink upon arrival.

Rooms are very nice, bathrooms are well lit and clean. Large kitchenette with a full size fridge, microwave and a dishwasher. Hotel is located 2 minutes away from the arrival and departure terminals. Rental car pick up and return is 2 blocks away. Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. There is a decent gym in the hotel and a Starbucks next door. There is a free airport shuttle from the hotel. Very nice and polite staff. This is my go to hotel when I need a room near LAX.

The best place I’ve stayed at in all my trips to Los Angeles. I stayed in room 1207 and it was a big room with cooking facilities and the bathroom was extra big. It has east access to Starbucks and a wonderful pizza shop as well. The pool was awesome and the hotel is extra close to the airport as well. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast food was more than enough considering it is Los Angeles and things ain’t cheap.

Excellent location for walking on the Venice beach boardwalk. Pretty much in the middle of the pier and marina del rey, we could walk to both. Decent food and drink options nearby. The hotel is clean with a nice rooftop. Good vibes. There is parking right next to the hotel for an additional $45 per day and night. Not the cheapest you can find in the area and very conveniently located right next to the hotel.

This is not the best hotel I ever stayed in, but it's great value for money! It's as cheap as a motel 6, but has decent services, it's impeccably clean and friendly staff. It's a historic building, 100 yrs old, so it's not like a chain hotel, but it was comfortable enough, and it has a lot of charm. The street facing rooms have views to the Hollywood sign, and the area is very clean and safe to walk.

Amazing apartment with an incredible view of Hollywood hills and downtown Los Angeles. The apartment is very private, comfortable with many luxury’s that I have never dreamed of…soundbar, heated floors and toilet seat, rain shower and bidet of all things. You could spend all day in the apartment but there is a huge city out there to be explored. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. Super elegant for an event and central in downtown Los Angeles. My room was very large and comfortable. Online check in was easy and made the arrival go fast. Staff worked with me on the room type that I wanted. The online check in saves the hotel a lot of staff time so there were no lines at check in.

I needed a cheap room close to the airport as a transit night before leaving the country - this hotel did the job pretty well. The room was a bit old and tired but the bed was good, the coffee machine worked and that was all that mattered! The 24-hour shuttle to the airport was a massive winner!

Thank you to all the staff for making our stay very pleasant at Los Ángeles Airport Marriott. Our room 166 was very comfortable and clean and had a doorway to the outdoor swimming pool area. But I most enjoyed getting my Starbucks Caramel macchiato right in the lobby of the hotel :)
