FAQs about hotels in Los Angeles

City of Angels

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.

Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.

And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present.  Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.

Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

Los Angeles is really special to me and definitely one of my favorite places. I really recommend having a car because the city is huge and you can explore so much more. For me LA is not just a place for a vacation, I can honestly imagine living there. You can go to the beach, hike, work from a nice cafe, shop, try great restaurants or go out in the evening. There is always something to do and every area feels completely different. For young couples I would recommend a beach day, sunset in Malibu, walking around Beverly Hills, trying different cafes and restaurants, shopping, going to the cinema, exploring Hollywood and just driving around different neighborhoods. There is honestly so much you can do in LA and that is probably what I like the most about it.

Los Angeles is a very lively and exciting place with so many attractions to see. I really enjoyed visiting the city, although I felt a little unsafe in some areas at night, especially as I was travelling alone. My favourite places were the Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, Disneyland, Universal Studios and Beverly Hills. The public transportation system was quite good and made it easier to get around the city. For food, burgers and other Western food were easy to find. However, as a Sri Lankan, I found it a little difficult to find Asian food with the stronger flavours and spice levels I am used to, and even some Indian food tasted quite mild for me. Overall, I really enjoyed Los Angeles and would definitely recommend visiting its major attractions, especially if you plan your transport and night-time travel carefully.

I went for the KCON LA festival and the hotel was an easy 20 minute walk which was super helpful in getting back and forth from the convention. There was also a metro station not far so traveling to other areas in LA was super convenient. There were a couple nice shopping areas not far from where I stayed and I enjoyed just getting to walk around!

I liked the pop up taqueria stands on Reseda. I liked seeing a portly guy sitting in the blazing sun at a bus stop on Roscoe at 9am polishing off his second Modelo then walking away, leaving the empties side by side beneath the bench. I mean, I felt for the guy--he might not be in the best part of his life currently, but it was certainly picturesque. And geography was astounding.

I loved visiting Los Angeles, even though my time there was short. Staying at the Samesun Hollywood Hotel & Hostel was a huge help, as it put many tourist attractions, souvenir shops, and various places to eat right at my doorstep. I visited the iconic Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica with its beautiful beach, and several museums in downtown Los Angeles that offered free admission. It is a destination worth visiting—ideally for at least a full week—and having your own transportation is recommended so you don't spend so much on Uber.

As with most major tourist destinations in California that have existed for over 50+ years, major construction projects are underway in areas frequently visited by tourists. Beverly Hills and Santa Monica Pier were accessible but difficult to get to and crowded. Parking lot fees avg. $15-$25 and restaurants with valet charge same. Every hotel, restaurant and/or tourist destination if traveling by car, adds an additional avg cost of $100 per day to the budget. If I am going to spend an average of $275 a dinner for 2 (1 drink, appetizer, entre & desert), restaurant should not charge $15-$20 for valet parking. The restaurant should offer parking validation for free parking for purchases over a certain $ (ex: $150)

Everything about the Hollywood Hotel is excellent. The rooms are superb for the price you pay. Location wise you’re not far from all Los Angeles has to offer. The facilities are great, gym, pool, mini market, laundry and breakfast parlour. Your are close to groceries and amenities. The staff are all wonderful, smiling, happy people, who couldn’t do more for you. They go above and beyond to make your stay the best that it can be. Especially Gisel and Yajaira, who have been more than graceful and exemplary during my stay.

The price realted to the ubication was amazing even on december holidays. The place is in front of the Doubly Teather with view to the wall of the hollywood stars. However if you have a bad luck and probably paying the cheapest tariff the room coul be more like a shelter than a hostel with people on drugs. Neverthelss, I asked for a change and the new room was totally different very clean and very confrotable.

Great location near LAX so very convenient for my flight early next morning. It's not a 5 star hotel by any means but if u need an airport hotel with a free transfer from/to the airport hotel is totally fine. It has a restaurant, Convenience Store, pool, gym. The shuttle driver was very friendly and helpful.
