El Royale Hotel - Near Universal Studios Hollywood

Hotel in Studio City, Los Angeles

El Royale Hotel - Near Universal Studios Hollywood is set in the Studio City district in Los Angeles, 3.1 mi from Hollywood Bowl. I can hardly imagine a better place to stay when visiting fantastic Universal Studios. It's a short walk to the theme park, so you can avoid driving to the parking lot and save $25-30. The hotel provides free, private parking spot which in LA is not only convenience, but almost a basic human right. I used to stay in much more expensive hotels in LA which still expected me to shell extra 10-30 bucks for parking, so huge props to El Royale for doing it right. The building and courtyard were very pleasant and my room was cozy, quiet and just great in all important aspects. Proper (ie. not "continental") breakfast in a low key setting was a nice and welcome surprise. All this would be enough to rate El Royale 10/10, but on top of that they also have the most helpful, most accommodating and the nicest staff ever.

Kimpton Everly Hotel

Hotel in Hollywood, Los Angeles

Set in Los Angeles in Hollywood, a 2 minute walk from the Capitol Records Building, Kimpton Everly Hotel features a year-round outdoor pool. I stayed four nights and it was an outstanding hotel. The receptionists were awesome and super attentive despite my very late arrival, always a smile on their faces, well dressed, and good manners. I couldn´t ask for more! And the decoration was beyond my expectations. Very modern, spacious, comfortable, luxurious without being ostentatious. There is always a "but", right? Well, that would be the Cafeteria Jane. The menu is too posh if you want a simple breakfast to go. Delicious, yes, but nonsense expensive. So better eat somewhere else. Extra? They received you with a FREE bottle of wine and warm delicious cookies PLUS a handwritten letter of welcome. That´s a point not only for the hotel name but for the public relations team that have thought about those details. Great work whoever you are guys! Well done! So. I DO recommend this hotel. If I were about to go back to LA, I will stay here FOR SURE. =) Thank you Kimpton Everly. You made my stay and my mom´s a great one.

The Charlie West Hollywood

Hotel in West Hollywood, Los Angeles

Once home to Charlie Chaplin, this historical hotel is centrally located in West Hollywood. If I ever advise anyone where to stay in LA , it is to stay in West Hollywood! And "The Charlie "was never disappointing! It has everything, privacy, authenticity and orange trees and rose bushes Actually I could touch an orange from my bedroom window above my head and hear birds singing at 4.30 in the morning. Never ever any hotel makes you feel this way in LA! Old Hollywood is hard to find! "The Charlie" - is definitely home away from home. The area around is very walkable and but yet not touristy at all Ops! I forgot to mention I ran into Kate Blanchet one day on St Monica Boulevard. She is beautiful from inside out, in reality actually more beautiful the in the movies John, the guy ho welcomed us in the reception and took care of us , you are a star! I thank you and your collègue for being so nice and attentive! P.s if you are a couple , try to book Marilyne Monroe bungalow , her spirit is just everywhere

FAQs about hotels in Los Angeles

City of Angels

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.

Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.

And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.

Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
