This hotel deserves to be 4 stars. The staff are fantastic, with a very professional attitude. I particularly liked Aisha. Extremely clean, spacious rooms. The pool is superb. There was a bar/dining area, as well as a counter to purchase food for the microwave. Plenty of snacks, and all at reasonable prices.

FAQs about hotels in Los Angeles

City of Angels

Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.

Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.

And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present.  Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.

Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

LA is a marmite type of place, you either love it or you hate it. It has some great places to visit including, The Getty Centre, Griffith Observatory, Venice Beach (daytime only*) and of course Universal Studios and Disneyland. Downsides are very busy traffic, time it takes to travel anywhere, need to be careful where you go especially at night. Venice Beach for instance is not a place you would want to go at night as it attracts significant numbers of undesirables after dark.

Los Angeles is a bit of a dump, to be honest; noisy, dirty and with the streets choked with traffic 24/7. There are much better places to stay nearby such as Orange Country, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Santa Monica, even Glendale. I'd only return to L.A. itself if business demanded it. Glad we only spent three nights there.

Be sure to have enough time planned for every activity you're going to do. Long distances. And heavy traffic big parts of the day. I had to skip several activities I had planned, because the traffic was too heavy and it would have taken me too long to move form A to B. Could have been so much better if there was better public transportation there! On the plusside: sunny and warm weather..

Santa Monica, Venice area are the best and the ones I...

Santa Monica, Venice area are the best and the ones I personally enjoyed the most. 1 day, 1,5 is good. Beverly Hills is a very luxurious area but a bit boring to see or do things. One morning/afternoon is enough. All of LA has a big homeless problem, unfortunately it happens mainly in major city's, but after traveling to many, this is one of the worst I’ve seen. A lot of them are just trying their best to deal with another day, but there some who leave food and trash in the middle of the street, streets in general are very dirty, others who are just shouting things in the street normally offensive. Dowtown LA don’t bother going. It’s the worst part and doesn’t have that much to see. Maybe I had big expectations after going to New York, and like I said all major cities have these problems (except gulf countries), but this one was one of the worst I’ve seen. I would recommend maybe 3 days, 1 hollywood area, griffin observatory ( a must) and other for venice/ santa monica. If it’s summer maybe ad another one for the beach area (santa monica/venice). I stayed a total of 5 days, and travelled to other parts like nevada, arizona and utah. I would shorten the days in LA and check other parts of the state and the other ones around it, specially the country side.

It's everything you would expect in a large city that seems to be overrun by homelessness. Some interesting features in the area, but I wouldn't rush back. I don't care for the trash and litter everywhere. I would tolerate LA for a day or two to see what I wanted, but I don't believe I will be craving a return to the area right away.

The location was unbeatable but on top of that the customer service was amazing. Honestly the best customer service I’ve ever had and we stay at hotels often. They were so helpful and always wanted to help us and every staff member we saw was the same in wanting to assist us in any way possible. The view was amazing. It was clean. The beds were comfortable and the blankets and towels were not cheaply made. I would 100% stay there for much longer next time. And right next to everything you need. It was awesome.

Great location next to Union Station and cheapest hotel available. Hey we only needed it to have somewhere to sleep. Is it the best area? No. Is it the best hotel? No, but!! it’s cheap, somewhere where you can spend the night, staff was really friendly and it was worth it for the price. If all you need is somewhere to sleep that has great public transportation connections this is the place to travel around LA. It’s also very close to China Town and Calle Olvera 👀 AC cold like ice too.

Rooms are very nice, bathrooms are well lit and clean. Large kitchenette with a full size fridge, microwave and a dishwasher. Hotel is located 2 minutes away from the arrival and departure terminals. Rental car pick up and return is 2 blocks away. Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. There is a decent gym in the hotel and a Starbucks next door. There is a free airport shuttle from the hotel. Very nice and polite staff. This is my go to hotel when I need a room near LAX.

The room was clean and with free parking ,not far from LAX,Venice,Santa Monica. Starbucks and gas just around the corner. The motel is located on Washington blvd/Sepulveda,but we didnt hear any noise. The hotels in Los Angeles are very expensive and if you're on a budget the travelodge is ok .We were visiting L.A so we were out all day long and most of the evening so we just needed somewhere clean to sleep. Staff was great. Very courteous and willing to guide in the city. Security in the hotel. We felt save in the area. Unfortunately everyplace in Los Angeles has homeless walking around (even beverly hills) because they seem to be approved to travel via bus and metro free... So... Having a safe place to rest was great. Bed was great.. A/C worked... All good. I would stay again definitely. Close to a metro station and the Hollywood main attraction walk of fame
