While the room was clean and the staff was very friendly, the hotel could use some updating inside and out. The carpet in the hallway and the room was a bit old. The outside of the building made it seem older but the rooms were fine.

The view was great. If you can get an ocean front room on floors 6-8 you won't be disappointed with the view. The hotel was close to Mauna Kea, the Volcano National Park, the zoo, and many other attractions on the Hilo side of the Big Island. There also were many great beach parks nearby that were good for seeing fish and sea turtles. We loved the little convenience store right outside the hotel and Coconut Island.

Bathroom was not up kept very well: toilet paper holder broken, cracked paint/floor in shower. Wish there was a microwave. It seemed as though a lot of people who were not patrons of the hotel were all over the grounds.

Location was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got everything I requested when booking. Food was great. Within walking distance to the beautiful Liliuokalani Gardens, and Coconut Island. Property felt safe and clean.

They only allowed one guest per room complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was nothing but sweets. If you wanted savory you had to purchase. We had to leave hotel at 5:30 am and they had no coffee available in the lobby.

The location is perfect but we were glad to see efforts going on to improve the neighboring properties that have sadly deteriorated. It is too lovely to lose the stunning heritage and beauty of this area— we have faith that things will improve!

Our room was a seventh floor ocean view with two queen beds. It had a spectacular view of Hilo bay and gorgeous grounds with natural lava pools. The room was very large, clean and quiet. It is only steps away from one of the most beautiful parks in Hawaii and a wonderful little art gallery. We loved it!

We were only here overnight so barely had anytime to explore the hotel. The main restaurant had a four course buffet dinner that night which was $80 a head so we ended up eating some food from the bar that was nice.

Allowing about 30 teenagers to eat their own food in the lobby, to run and make rowdy noise in he corridors of the top floors. This placed your hotel in the bad part of town. It was horrible . I know kids can be noisy, but This is not a good thing in a nice hotel. The Resort Fee is a rip off. The Royal Hawaiin in Honolulu charges more and includes a lot. Yours includes water. This is a rip off

There was construction going on under our room on the 5th floor- just during the day but all day. And I don’t think the hotel was full. Must be remodeling which is good because it’s a great hotel!

Location - right by Coconut Island- the view was incredible! The lounge- great food. Includes continental breakfast- grab and go. Staff was excellent!!

The live performance in one of the restaurants was too loud.

Nice ocean view. Quiet neighborhood where you can take a walk in the morning. Short walk to coconut island and Japanese garden. The hotel has two restaurants and big lobby area. We enjoyed the breakfast. Free parking is nice.
