Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe room wasn’t very clean. The wallpaper was peeling, the shower grating was caked with dust, and sink drainage full of black debris. The person who checked us in was unable to explain the $25/day required resort fee and how that was charged (which was included in the Booking.com payment, but the person at reception said it was an additional $75 charge). There was no way to opt out of the resort fee which had to be used to purchase things within the hotel, but also didn’t roll over between each day. This left a really bad first impression. The fridge was unable to be used in the room because it’s full of weight sensor mini bar items and no room for personal use.
The history of the Palmer House is undeniable. The ornate decor and lobby was beautiful.

United States of AmericaI didn’t like the additional fees for using the hotel. It was unexpected. Gives me pause about booking in future. I didn’t like being double charged for my second night in the room. The hot water handle in the room stop working. It took three hours to get another set of towels. I had to call the front desk three times. this was by far the worst customer service I’ve ever received from the hotel and I stayed there frequently.

United States of AmericaThey love to add extra charges. When we parked in front, a doorman gave us a valet parking tag and our car was whisked away to valet parking. Only later did we find out (printed in unreadably faint letters on the tag) that valet parking cost $75/night. Then when we checked in we were told there was a $25/day additional charge that we had to spend on hotel services like food, spa etc. On our first day we decided to use the $25 towards a quick breakfast before going sightseeing: 30 mins after we ordered, no food had yet arrived. We went asking and finally it came. Food was very good, but our day started late.
The hotel is in a great location, close to major attractions like The Chicago Art Institute. It is a grand building, the main lobby is grand, feels like a set for a movie about the roaring 1920s. The rooms have a classic feel, not shiny and modern, but they have all the amenities you'd expect.

United States of AmericaHilton did not honor booking.com reservation change. Ended up charging my credit card $1200 (initial $915 deposit) then $297 at check out while handing me a receipt for a total charge of $688. I also did not get the room I booked. I was given a handicapped room which do not have nice showers. The view from my room was a wall. Food was average for quality and price for the area but service was very slow.

United States of AmericaIt took almost an hour for us to get checked in. Then it took another 30 minutes for the luggage to make its way up to our room. There's also some hidden fees - a "$25 credit" at the spa and the bar/food that's actually just a $50 charge they add to your bill regardless of whether or not you use it. We were upgraded to a room that was down three different hallways, with the tiniest bathroom. You couldn't open the door and have someone standing at the sink. Don't believe the photos in terms of room size or amenities.
We got upgraded because we were getting married the next day. They took our luggage up to our room! The lobby was very beautiful and stayed open for a night cap.

FranceThe bathroom is much too small for one person - for two, it must be pretty inconvenient. The lobby (and breakfast is by the lobby) was noisy from early morning to late evening - when there was no convention guests, it had non-stop loud music. The hotel has known better days but is now a bit passé; overpriced for what it is despite the excellent location.
The standard double room is large enough, the desk good for work, and the bed rather comfy.

United States of AmericaHistoric and lovely grand hotel - enjoyed how it had preserved its past. Busy convention hotel that did its best to get customer's needs met. I was there for the Chicago Marathon since it was one of the closest hotels to the start and finish and they catered to us by having a fast-moving breakfast line they nicely opened an hour early at 6:00 A.M. when the lobby was often busy - and thanks for the non-dairy milk and healthy items and having Freshi downstairs. I upgraded to a premium room that seemed like a standard size but it's a big city hotel and the bed, amenities, view, and quietness were all good. The staff was friendly. The gym was big and well-equipped. I had one of the best massages ever in its spa the day before. A good choice if you are staying downtown.
