Nice to wander among the cobbled streets of the old town and set off on the wine trail among the vineyards. Walk for as far as you want then head down to the valley floor to get a bus back to Sondrio.
Great walks in Valmalenco. Not far to Switzerland - Passo Bernina is very picturesque.

I really can’t say enough good things- Olmo & his family are lovely. Their restaurant in town is as good as the delicious homemade breakfasts. The rooms had everything I needed in a very cool, updated old building. I loved wandering around the peaceful town.

Cycling through the Sentiero Valtellina is glorious, and Sondrio is well situated between Colico and Bormio on the trail. We arrived in Sondrio by bicycle on a very warm Wednesday (85 degrees). Because we had already ridden through much of the town, although we would have liked to visit the local art and history museum and vineyards in the area, bathing and cooling off became our top priorities. The restaurant at the Grand Hotel Della Posta is excellent.

I came for the Valtellina Wine Trail 42km which starts in Tirano and finishes in Sondrio. Sondrio is a perfect place for this. Easy to get to by train from Milan. The town is great to stroll around; there are a lot of fun shops, enotecas and bars. The views of the surrounding mountains are beautiful. The people up here are really friendly and always willing to help with any questions.

Place is for people that want to go out of city and take a good holiday away from the regular daily problems, very beautiful views, you can make nice stay , take a bici or just walk into the forest . It s close to border with CH and you can make a short trip to Sankt Moritz or nearest mountain villages. Also lake COMO is 1h away , you can make trip to VARENNA or LECCO.
We love the Grand Hotel Della Posta. It is owned by the organization that owns the local art and history museum and is decorated with lovely artwork that is part of the museum's collection. Our room was very large and elegant with tall ceilings, high quality furniture and a view out over the Piazza Garibaldi Guiseppe. We arrived on bicycles and were able to park them overnight in a secure courtyard behind the hotel. We enjoyed an al fresco dinner in the garden with excellent wine from the Valtellina region.
Olmo is a classic owner/operator of the hotel. He gave it that personal touch and was attentive to small details that are usually missed with chain hotels. One thing you'll also notice is the unique architecture. He explained in detail some of the original elements of the 100 year old hotel, and the recent renovation a few years ago. The stone stairs leading into the basement/wine room are original and very very cool.
Everything! The price point was amazing and we were so surprised to find a beautiful, fully equipped apartment. The place was way more than we had expected! It was very clean, spacious, and located right in the center of Sondrio. Ramona was very attentive and patient with all of our questions. The apartment is ideal for families, groups or even couples looking for a romantic destination!
Amazing apartment, very clean, modern and spacious. The host communicated all the information needed ahead of time and always responded quickly if we had any questions during our stay. The apartment is also in a good location in Sondrio with plenty of free street parking out the front.
I would highly recommend this apartment as it is one of the best I have stayed in!!
The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. The view from the window was the river and mountains, just beautiful. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection for everyone. The hotel stored our luggage while we wandered around the town. We would definitely return!

The apartment was clean, well maintained, and well equipped. Plus, the city itself had 6 pleasant calming vide. Totally recommend for someone who is going for a trip to Aprica. You can rent a car and stay at Sondrio more convenient.
Staff members were always helpful! Our meals in the hotel restaurant were excellent and the som had extensive knowledge of the Valtellina wines. He gave us good recommendations to try with dinner and for our tour of the area.
An exceptionel quite and cosy location in the woods high above busy Sondrio. An excellenct place to explore the wonderful mountains. A single house with much place and a wide area around to relax, to play for children.
