A very scenic little town, though maybe a little expensive in some places. Almost every corner you turn, you'll enjoy a nice view, and the streets are nice to wander around. It's not a very big place, so if you're physically able, it's easy to get around on foot. If you're staying outside the town centre and you're going out late, carry a torch – some paths can get quite dark. Taking a cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi is worth the price, with some breathtaking views of Mont Blanc (be prepared for the altitude – it feels very disorienting if you're not used to it). The Mer de Glace is also a nice excursion, but it's very sad to see how much of the glacier is now gone thanks to climate change. There are some fantastic restaurants to stop at. I recommend L'Index for something upscale (ask the waiters about all the local produce they use) and La Fine Bouche serves an excellent dinner. For something more casual, head to Arcus Coffee for brunch or Yak for some Nepalese cuisine (order the momo dumplings!).Guest review byMarkFrance - 6.0
Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that!
Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that! So it was immensely busy around the area where our hotel was, which is where the town meets the lake. I would not go again in high season. We rented bikes and cycled around the lake (38km) which was enjoyable, but a lot of people do that as well.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Don't stay overnight in crowded Chamonix, unless you like a Disney-kind of atmosphere. Instead, village Les Houches has pleasant places overlooking the Mont Blanc glaciers. Easy bustrip (in summertime every 30 minutes) to take you to nice and easy or more difficult to reach summits and glaciers, by yourself or by taking a cable car.Guest review byDoctor MarcelNetherlands - 6.0
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist...
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist season, felt unexpectedly lifeless. Many stores appeared permanently closed, and the town lacked any real atmosphere after early evening—by 10pm, only the casino restaurant was still serving food. This left few options for late dining or entertainment. Given these circumstances and the general sense of a closed-up town, I would not recommend visiting Evian-les-Bains, especially if you're expecting a lively lakeside resort experience. While some guides and official tourism pages highlight Evian's attractive lakefront, Belle Époque architecture, and potential activities along the lake and nearby outdoors, recent firsthand accounts confirm a lack of vibrancy and operational businesses, even in traditionally busy months. For travelers who prioritize a bustling atmosphere and broad dining options long into the evening, it may be better to look elsewhere.Guest review byRudyKUnited States - 10.0

We were lucky with the weather and snow, but there were a lot of people because of the school holidays. The resort itself is very cozy, beautiful trails of different levels, convenient markings. Ideal for beginner skiers.Guest review byNataliIsrael - 10.0
Nice lake front with port/marina.
Nice lake front with port/marina. There's a steep climb up to the town from the water with a funicular railway (summer only?). Lots of places to eat plus takeaways and supermarket in easy walking distance of town centre.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Ideal to sleep over and access cities around.
Ideal to sleep over and access cities around. Annecy is lovely and Geneve has a lot to offer but you can also easily go to Evian, or even other cities in Switzerland like Lausanne, in little time. The train station has a lot of trains throughout the day that are punctual.Guest review bymlopes17Portugal - 4.0
La Clusaz is ok but not great.
La Clusaz is ok but not great. It's low so snow is unreliable. It is relatively cheap for lift passes. There are no taxis available any more so getting round town in really hard! It's a very tame resort. Very hard to get into a restaurant on a weekend evening.Guest review byAmyGuernsey - 10.0
