Marroad Inn Kumagaya, hotel in Kumagaya

Marroad Inn Kumagaya features French and Chinese cuisine, a bar and a café, a 10-minute walk from JR Kumagaya Train Station. It offers a 24-front desk, laundry facilities and drinks vending machines.

I liked the fact that this was a Showa-era / maybe early Heisei-era hotel. The elevator design and controls, the room controls, all just felt like the 1970s or 80s. (By the way, the elevator has a view of the outside.) The room and bathroom were very clean. The airconditioner control is on a console (took me a while), but everything worked---and was quiet. (t was a 100 degree F day. Staff was excellent. I would stay there again for sure.

This is a great place to visit if you are a bit adventurist and want to experience life in Japan away from Tokyo and other typical tourist locations. Just brush up on your basic Japanese language as English is not spoken in most places. But, if you travel there by the local trains from Narita all train stops are given in Japanese and English. Also, many establishments do not accept credit cards so be sure to carry some Yen with you!
