Hotel in Kinugawa Onsen, Nikko
Surrounded by lush nature, Hotel Ootaki features a garden and Japanese-style rooms with a private bathroom. It’s a 15-minute walk from Tobu Kinugawa Onsen Station. I can't believe the value of the price I paid. I ended up extending my trip. There is an outdoor and indoor onsen. The outdoor one was so incredible since it faces the trees. I really enjoyed the onsen. There is also a manga library, vending machines inside the hotel, and a lounge area. On top of that, the room is ginormous and my room was facing the beautiful autumn trees. The one futon was uncomfortable so I stacked 2-3 futons and it was finally comfortable. Staff was very friendly as well. It is about 10-15 minute walk to the train station. There is a seven eleven within 7-8 minutes. I didn't realize how close the hotel was to the suspension bridge. I will definitely be back.

Probably the best town in Japan! So cute, quaint, and has it all! Temples, museums, forests, waterfalls, and really, really good food, beautiful cafes and many free wifi-spots in the nicest parts of town. 3 days here is too short!
Amazing nexus of shrines, temples and tombs high in a forested hillside, above a quiet if uninspiring roadside town in a picturesque setting. The tomb of Ieyasu Tokugawa is the highlight. Food options limited.
Nikko is the famous and popular city of Toshigi Perfecture, there are a lot of Nature and Shinto Shrines to survey and sightseeing as World Heritage by UNESCO, and there are many famous hot springs in the area (my host gave me the suggestion one also). if you have only one day trip, I recommend you to go sightseeing the Toshogu Shrine, Taiyuin and Rinnoji Temple as the highlight.
Nikko is a great place to visit for beautiful landscapes, striking natural features, cultural heritage and relaxing onsen baths. Toshogu shrine is a must see for visitors, and simply exploring the temples and shrine's that litter the area nearby is a great way to spend a day. There is an abundance of good food, especially Yuba, which is a thin sheet made from soybeans, and strawberry. Yumoto Onsen was definitely worth the trip. A short hike around the lake is an easy walk and there is a beautiful waterfall at the bottom of the lake called Yudaki falls with a small eatery and shop at the bottom. There are countless onsen and hotels here, but there are no convenience stores or restaurants so it's best to eat at your hotel. The bus pass is a convenient way to get around and much cheaper than using IC, a one way fare from Nikko station to Yumoto onsen can be around ¥2000. We came across a lot of wildlife while exploring the area, such as monkeys and deer. The National Park has a diverse ecosystem and it is great to explore. Access to Nikko is easy from Tokyo, with limited express trains leaving direct from Asakusa to Tobu-Nikko Station. I recommend visiting if you are interesting in history, culture and nature.
Nikko sits amid mountain heights giving all heavenly delights. The Autumn leaves were an Autumn dream. The Keggon Waterfall enthralled all. The Chuzeji Lake boat trip should not be missed. Nature's scenes were like a fantasy dream. The mountain food, with deliciousness oozed. The shop staff, with kindness, grafted. Nikko sits amid mountain heights giving all heavenly delights.
Nikko is really a nice place!!! the Main Street is very attractive with a lot of restaurant and shops!! you can enjoy a great hand made soba!! not too far from Nikko you can go the beautiful lake Shinzeki !! or visiting the famous temple !!!

Izumi Nikko is incredible! We loved everything about our 2 night stay here. The location is beautiful and peaceful. We especially loved the private terrace overlooking the stream and woods. The room is spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The Japanese breakfast was unbelievably delicious. Izumi-san is so kind and gave us multiple rides to and from the station. He also generously packed a meal for our early train the morning we departed. When we come back to Nikko we will always stay at Izumi! Thank you so much!

The guest house owners are helpful and freindly. We got 2rooms for ourselves plus a living room with all the possible utensils. It is pity that they didnot serve breakfast and everything in Nikko opens late in the morning and close early at night in winter so we didnot have chance to experience the local cuisine a lot but every other is good . Owners can pick you up and send you off from / to the nearest bus/ train station so pls text them in advance for this service

The house is cozy and very chill! It’s very spacious and convenient! It’s two minute away from a grocery store and 10 second away from a taxi company that provide day tour services. What makes this place even more amazing is the staff! Yoshi’s hospitality is like on another level! He is kind and super helpful throughout our stay not only in Nikko but throughout our entire trip in Japan! Big shout out to Yoshi san!
A convenient and wonderful base to explore Nikko. Super comfortable private tatami room with clean facilities. The host was incredibly kind, thoughtful and generous - helping with bus timetables, driving me to the supermarket and station, making breakfast and offering a gift. Despite the language barrier (I don’t speak much Japanese), the host went above and beyond which made the stay all the more wonderful!
Nikko
It is an older hotel but still very popular among the Japanese. Buffet Breakfast was okay. Room was very clean and comfortable. Not too far from all the major sites. Private onsen room reservations available. Springtime in Nikko is great, it exceeded our expectations. You can easily spend the entire day visiting all the temples and shrines north of the Shinkyo bridge.

The breakfast and dinner were excellent! the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and took the time to explain everything. There’s also a 24 hour coffee station overlooking Lake Chuzenji and a free shuttle once a day to the train station. I want to go back to Nikko just to stay here again.

The hotel had a beautiful view of the river with floor to ceiling windows and a private bath. Dinner was a full course traditional Japanese meal offered privately in the vacant room next to us due to covid which was great!
This was my favorite hotel of my whole vacation in Japan. The hotel was enchanting. The hotel is run by a most charming family. The host offered to give us a ride from the hotel to some of the favorite local sites.
Decent hotel for a night. Compact room as usual in Japan. Nicely located a few minutes from the train station and bus stops. Nice breakfast.
The hotel is very new and clean, location is great and price is excellent . The staffs are professional and friendly.
