Our google took us to Maintenon to break the journey from the south. It was slightly out of our way but well worth the detour. Very pretty town, lovely buildings and castle but very quiet in the evening.

Small but interesting town with fascinating architecture and a beautiful Château. Restaurant choice was limited as most were closed on Monday night. The town has a lot of traffic going through it, so it’s hard to find somewhere to sit outside and have a quiet drink or bite to eat.

The chateau is exquisite: and a manageable size on a very hot day! Beautiful gardens too. We ate at Sables de Roses, a Moroccan restaurant, which was simply fantastic (recommend chicken ravine with lemon and olives).

The staff was really friendly and accommodating. They forgot to let us know room service wasn’t available during our stay but when we arrived the receptionist gave us a list of restaurant we could go to which we really appreciated. Thanks to that we had the best meal in “le soleil” restaurant which was 3min walk away from the hotel.

Lovely, comfortable spacious room at the back of hotel with views of the château & garden. Despite ongoing renovation our room was quiet. The workers respectful to guests. Water & tea making facilities adjacent to room & separate toilet from bathroom. Exceptionally clean. We would like to return again to try out the spa facilities after completion of the renovations.

We loved the hotel, it's location it's modern setting, it's proper reception areas and most of all the big bright comfy bedroom with fantastic walk-in shower. Free parking on site is a big bonus. We did not use the spa so cannot comment

We did not use the restaurant in the evening. We went out to a nice one in the town. We came back for night caps. The breakfast was very good. We did not use the spa.
