Excellent Location next to A20 main road. Very close to restaurants, local bars shops etc. Room very clean and tidy. My only concern was no kettle etc in the room to make a cup off coffee or tea on arrival etc!

A nice friendly town.
A nice friendly town. The cathedral is being restored and the results have created some controversy. Some people think they are "over" restoring it and so effacing all signs of its age. But the intention is, I think, to make it look exactly as it was when it was first build 100 years ago! Have a look and make your own judgement.
The Musee des Beaux Art next to the Cathedral is worth a visit. The art is neither here nor there but the building and location are charming.
There's a lovely 19th century covered market - the night we were there it was hosting a children's entertainment

Chartres is a very popular and interesting town however some places are vastly more busy. The Cathédrale Notre Dame was swamped with tourist groups most of the time we attempted to visit before at the fifth attempt did we feel it was calm enough to enter. St Pierre Church is a far more calm and peaceful place to visit. It is also further from the town centre but the walk there is interesting.
There are plentiful bistros and cafés etc and a wide range of shops plus a covered food market on a Saturday morning.
Everything of interest is within a walkable distance including the remarkable La Maison Picassiette.
The Brassiere « Le Weekend » 3, rue Du Cheval Blanc is excellent for cuisine traditionnelle française and very reasonably priced, Le Phare Saint Louis at 4 rue Maréchal de Lattre du Tassigny for delicious crêpes plus
thé Chocolaté Café for great hot chocolat and patisserie - the tarte tatin was fantastic; again all at a great price.

No cars in the center. Quite place. A lot to discover.
No cars in the center. Quite place. A lot to discover. Church, museum glass, walking along the river Eure, the market.
If you want to visit by little train in the evening the illuminated spots, make a reservation in the tourist office. The service there was zero!

A very calm city with a lot of historic buildings.
A very calm city with a lot of historic buildings. Focus is naturally put on the gothic Cathedral, which really is worth a longer visit. No doubt about that.
The city of Chartres itself is less amazing. There are few but some very good spots to have lunch or dinner. The old center of the city offers a lot of shopping spots. Careful: on Sundays, most of the businesses are closed!
Not only the city seems old, but most of the visitors are. It's not like a university or business city where there is more to offer for youngsters.
The city sure has its charms, but a one-day trip is by far enough time to explore most of the interesting spots.

The cathedral is not to be missed.
The cathedral is not to be missed. Even if you're not big on churches or old buildings you will be impressed by the truly amazing cleaning and restoration work that has been done over the last two years or so and is still going on. The immediate surroundings include many attractive old buildings and several cafés and restaurants.

Central Chartres is a mix of old and new with many historical buildings and of course the amazing cathedral. Lots of lovely local restaurants ranging from brasseries to Greek/Turkish family cooking and people are very friendly. Loved walking along the river to get different perspectives of the cathedral
When we arrived we were made feel very welcome. The receptionist was so helpful, friendly and good humoured as was the porter. He parked our car and brought our luggage up to the room. They set a high standard for our visit and we weren’t let down. The spa was very relaxing after a long day walking. Breakfast was good as expected. The bar is very cosy with a good atmosphere, particularly when watching France play rugby and win in the world cup.
Located ear the top of a hill that overlooks the town. The hotel is on the site of an old Prory that was founded 1000 years ago. The building is spacious with large rooms. An air of calm prevails. Chartres cathedral is a short walk away and worth a visit. Staff were helpful. Free parking and wifi.
Spacious bedroom and bathroom with excellent shower. Central but quiet location. Great breakfast. Every bit as good as last time we stayed here - Parc Stanislaus is still our top choice for Chartres and indeed for any stopover driving through France.
we have stayed in several places (in Fr and elsewhere in EU) and this was by far the best experience in France ! the place was amazing, the amenities, the comfort, the facilities… all was great!
More than happy to keep booking Ace Hotels on our trips south into France and north back to UK in the knowledge that they are a fully reliable no matter which of their hotels we use.
