You can go to several walking trails in the large Byfield NP (mixed forest, mainly pine including production areas) or go to Yeppoon which is a 40 minutes drive away, has all kind of shops, a great free swimming lagoon with infinity view over the sea and snorkeling tours.

Fantastic to see the trees recovering from the cyclone, and recent fires. The smell of Pine and rainforest trees bring a freshness like nowhere else. Lots of places to discover and things to see. Well worth the trip.

Byfield is a rural area about 40km from Yeppoon. The area has quiet a few cabin and camping style resorts in the area. Byfield itself is a small town with a general store and school as well as a few houses. There is a pottery just outside of town which is worth a visit. The national park has a lovely picnic area at Waterfall Creek which does have some camping sites. We did one of the walks , I think it was called the Banksia circuit, which took about an hour. Its very overgrown so watch for snakes and wear long pants and sleeves. Stay on the track and follow the markers. This path is around 2 km long but there is a longer one which is not a circuit which was around 6km but we did not do this one as it was very overgrown.
