FAQs about hotels in Sydney

From Beaches to Business, Sydney Has it All

From the glitz and glamour of the Star City Casino and trendy King Street Wharf in Darling Harbor to the waves of the Northern beaches, Sydney is full of great restaurants, bars and shopping.

Sail under the iconic Harbor Bridge on a ferry and take in a world class performance at the Sydney Opera House. Circular Quay is also home to the exquisite waterside Botanical Gardens and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Sydney Tower is the highest point on the skyline and offers a restaurant with panoramic views.

Whether it's the quirky King Street in Newtown or the elegance of the Woollahra, travelling outside of the center uncovers each suburb's distinct flavor. The famous Bondi Beach is the starting point of a walk along the cliffs to the equally photogenic beaches of Bronte and Coogee.

Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport is the main gateway to this capital city and only a short distance from the city center. From a dorm bed in King’s Cross to a 5-star, serviced apartment in the central business district, will ensure you don’t miss the excitement in this dynamic city down under.

The most liked feature of Sydney for me was the greenery (parks and gardens) and harbour areas where there was always somewhere to sit down and take it in, feeling like there was space despite being in the city. It all connected well, we walked Chinatown on the Friday night for the market food to Darling Harbour for ice-cream and along King Street Wharf for a refreshment. It is worth checking those places I've mentioned early in the trip to then know where to revisit for dinner or drinks plans later. Public Transport (PT) was easy, we mixed it up via train, bus and cruise during our long weekend visit and had no issues despite being from a regional location and not users of PT.

Being from Melbourne I had reservations about Sydney (the great rivalry!) However I loved it there, the harbour is absolutely beautiful. I recommend taking a harbour tour ferry, not just the public transport ferry, as you get a guided tour!

I liked the beaches , Coogee and Bondi, both beautiful with soft sand. Both very clean ! Just beware of the strong waves and pay attention to the lifeguards instructions as they are only there to keep everyone safe and do a wonderful job! The harbour is absolutely stunning with a great atmosphere and vibe. So many places to enjoy a meal or drink and take in the gorgeous views. I found parking in Sydney very difficult and quite expensive, so would definitely recommend public transport.

I'm a Sydney local who has traveled extensively.

I'm a Sydney local who has traveled extensively. Sydney has it all - a beautiful harbour, museums, parks and landmarks, excellent food, but the real kicker is the culture! If you love museums, theatre, art, museums and music, there's so much more than the iconic and fabulous opera house. Also check out local theatre such as Belvoir, Sydney Theatre Company, Bangarra Dance, Ensemble, as well as music at the Recital Hall and my fave small museum: The Barracks, near Hyde Park for a docent-experience of life in the colonies in a heritage soldiers barracks building. The Royal Botanic Gardens on the foreshore near the opera house is a wonderful (long) amble / link to the art gallery, state library, Barracks and City of Sydney museum, and Australian Museum along Macquarie street.

I was born and bred in Sydney I love this city, escpecially coming home from Overseas. if come in over Sydney Harbour , it is one of the most beautiful Harbours in the World, feeling of Peter Allens's song ring true. "Still call Austrlia Home" well Sydney is my Home Town" . So many things to do and see, friendly people, all visitors have to do is ask for help, politely of course! There are affordable places to go and things to do. Many things are free, like walking through the Botannical Gardens, along the foreshore , steps of the Opera House. Moslty are sky is Blue,

It wasn't made clear enough by the hotel how we went about paying our parking which prepaid for through but then we were told by hotel it hadn't been paid for when we tried to collect our car. Needs to be improved (communication re parking).

I couldn’t get into room had to knock the neighbours for help..I didn’t have WiFi so he set up so I could contact office! They stated that the number they had given to me was changed in afternoon, but as I didn’t have WiFi I hadn’t seen .. very stressful.Room smelt on sweat and damp ! Shower and toilet poor! My second time visiting and it’s one of my favourite Sydney hotels to stay in. From amazing staff, greeted by the concierges, to the fun staff at Dean and Nancy to the cleaners. The environment is definitely inviting and the facilities are of high luxury standard. The sleek, modern interior reminds me of New York. A wonderful city escape or a Sydney staycation. Right across from Wynyard station and the tram line easy access around the CBD.

I like the lovely, welcoming Federation-style decor, ensuite bathroom, private balcony overlooking the garden and microwave oven. Location is great, close to Northern Sydney CBD but really quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Also love the metal keys, which don't keep failing all the time like the "access" (Not!) digital cards used by hotel chains! Very good value for money, especially compared to other northside hotels.

We couldn't find the damn place. The address you sent us was a private dwelling with no keypad access. You don't include your supposed 24/7 customer service number on your texts. We had hundreds of dollars of Christmas food going off in the sun and had to wander around Maroubra on a Friday afternoon trying to find a place to stay. Demand a refund. Oh, and the contact number for the place did not work.

Centrally located hotel in Sydney CBD with friendly staff. The room was nice, there was a mini fridge and bed was comfortable and linens were nice. WiFi was very good. Hotel is walking distance to many restaurants, cafes and bars. A few blocks from Museum Station and Town Hall Station so can take the train to many places - easy travel from airport. Can also take 333 bus to Bondi Beach.

What an incredible hotel! Everything was flawless - from the room and abundance of towels to the warm greeting, impeccable service, and exquisite decor. Having stayed in hotels globally, I must say this experience was truly outstanding, especially considering the great value and convenient location. The availability of a shuttle bus to the airport was the cherry on top!

This hotel is located close to both Circular Quay (15 min walk or 5 min train on George Street) and Darling Harbour (10 min walk). It’s also a short walk from the train stop coming in from the airport. It was a good sized room, clean and well equipped. Be aware that the lobby to this hotel is located on the 8th floor by lift. You then take another lift to your room.

Hotel is in a fantastic location only 10 minutes from the harbour make sure you get a room high up with views of the clock tower one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. I loved the art deco style of the hotel. It was stunning. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was a good size. The location in the CBD was perfect because we were in between two train stations that were walking distance, close to darling harbour and shopping mall.

I did not like the property. Location far from St. Peter’s station. I thought I booked hotel close to airport. No way. Should have stayed downtown Sydney near central station. The staff did go out of their way to get me a taxi to airport. Thank you for that.

Great hotel right on the manly beach front. I thought it would be loud on top of the restaurants and bars but it was surprisingly quiet. Very good breakfast included. Great location for trips into Sydney CBD as the ferry docks right beside the opera house.
