Nice city. People are generally friendly & helpful. A lady staff at the town hall station was extremely helpful when we reached the station at night for direction to the castlereagh hotel on 30/11/17. Public servants in particular are primely important to make a difference for all tourist. Public servants are usually the first line of contact for any visitor to a new country. The gentleman who checked us in at the castlereagh hotel on the night of our arrival on 30/11/17 was extremely helpful and efficient in getting us into our room. He is a cheerful lot each day when we meet him at the front desk. Hotel is very clean and convenient. Hotel has a self service laundry facility at no extra charge, very useful. Room is a little small though, but, the service and efficiency of the staffs made it up to all. Kudos 💪🏼Castlereagh.. will return at the next opportunity. F&B, supermarket & shopping are all close by. However, the shops close very early, making it rather boring if one prefers to shop than drink or party! Luckily, the supermarket WOOLWORTHS closes at 10pm and that is a bonus for us. We love Woolloomooloo Darlinghurst, rushcutters bay, Pitts point and barangaroo.. each has its charm and flavour! Interesting architecture skyline too.
Best place to stay for the view of Sydney harbour is the North Sydney Harbour View, great public transport at your door, great walking/running tracks especially over the Harbour Bridge. Good comfortable accommodation in and around the city if you want to be right in the action with an average price of $150 AUD, you can pay more and I would if I was staying for more then a few days but if your there for the night life go cheaper as your only in the room to sleep. The down side is if you drive even though you pay good money for your accommodation you will also be hit with an average $25 per day for parking, I feel that should be included in the price. Down side is NSW still have the lock out laws so you need to find a good place you like before 0100h. Good idea if you want to be escorted around is to jump onto OZ Party buses and they will take you out for dinner, move you around on a Disco bus to experience up to 4 night clubs or pub depending on the party bus you jump on. During the day you can jump on the ferry to manly and walk to the Spit Bridge then bus it up to Military road and down to the zoo and make your way to the bottom of the zoo and catch the ferry back to the CBD, shower change and hit the many bars and Restaurants in and around the Rock or Opera house. If your after a great hassle free night out without the thugs hit the Newtown gay friendly area where everyone is there to party and meet new people. I found this area to be so friendly and safe to walk around. Great food as well!!!!
Rooms were clean, however, i didnt expect that the room is smaller than i thought. Pictures are misleading =)... but it's ok.The 3 of us fits ourselves in anyway.Bedsheets are neat and comfy, location is great it's just in the heart if the city. Very convenient to walk around. It's a good choice.. Thumbs up Sydney hotel CBD.
What a great place to stay. We had dinner in china town which was wonderful. We caught the train to Circula Quay and walked around enjoying the entertainment and Street foods. Darling Harbour was next then the Ferry back to Circula Quay , the ferry over to Loona Park. Just wonderful. The views from our room at the North Sydney Harbourview hotel was spectacular .
The Rocks is my favourite place. Such an old worldly atmosphere and great little pubs such as Fortune O' War to visit. I have had dinner a couple of times at the Munich (aka Lowenbrau) which is a German restaurant with great food. The pork knuckle is the best! If you would like a more quiet intimate setting there are a couple of restaurants down at Walsh Bay on the wharf. The new Barangaroo Park is a great place to have a picnic and it is a licensed park so you can take a few beverages and soak in the amazing sights of the Harbour Bridge, Balmain Wharf, Darling Harbour, Luna Park and the list goes on. There is a pub/hotel at Millers Point called Hotel Palisade. If your looking for a quirky 'not the run of the mill' place to stay then this is it.
For the 2 day period whilst in Sydney, our negotiated tariff accommodation at the ADINA HOTEL was central & key to our requirements, in that public transport adequately catered to our transportation needs within the CBD. A multitude of eateries to cater to those with empty pockets, & to those with bulging pockets, a cross section of world wide dishes to choose from, all within walking distances of your accommodation if you have based yourself within the CBD. Again, if based in the CBD, it is extremely easy to get around Sydney, & all within casual waking distances. If attending Concerts in the heart of Sydney, again all within walking distances. If attending sporting functions, & you are residing in the CBD, again no problem, as the variety of transportation is on hand & available. The hotel concierge will be your best contact to provide this information.
This is one of those hotels you don't actually want to write a review about because then other people will see it, and then it will be hard to make a booking because it's so popular. But the Old Clare went above and beyond in so many aspects -- I can't recommend it highly enough. We'll stay there every time we return to Sydney (so save us a room!) The location is fabulous, central, walking distance to the main train station, new tram line, taxis etc. There's a newly redeveloped laneway right next to the hotel with loads of restaurants, bars, an outdoor Asian market, Reynold from Masterchef and his dessert bar, literally something for everyone. The restaurant directly across does a great brunch which you can add to your room bill (with a discount, natch) The rooftop pool is tiny and blissful, and there's a bar and sofas to perch on after your swim. Everything about the decor is cool and quirky and boutique and thoughtful. The room we stayed in was large and air-conditioned and relaxing and wonderful. But the staff really made a difference - we traveled with a baby and they sorted a cot and nothing was too much hassle. They helped with parking (tip: when you arrive, park in the 15min bays out the front on the main road and go inside, the front desk team will help by taking your car to a nearby garage for you. You'll struggle to find on-street parking nearby and the one-way systems mean you'll drive around multiple blocks, multiple times). The design aesthetic is so wonderful I actually purchased some furnishings and the team went above and beyond in ensuring they reached me after my stay. A massive thank you to all, we can't wait to return.
They gave us a bottle of wine and small gift once they knew we have stayed here before, the hotel is located at almost right on the Watsons bay wharf and the room is good size, the view from room is awesome
The service was incredible and the best bed I’ve slept in. They also allowed me to check in early and gave me access to the executive lounge as I was there for business. Amazing stay wish it was longer!
Loved everything about our stay. Staff was friendly, catered to all needs, room service was fast. Very good. Bus stop and train stations right outside hotel which was huge help getting around.
