Nice city. People are generally friendly & helpful. A lady staff at the town hall station was extremely helpful when we reached the station at night for direction to the castlereagh hotel on 30/11/17. Public servants in particular are primely important to make a difference for all tourist. Public servants are usually the first line of contact for any visitor to a new country. The gentleman who checked us in at the castlereagh hotel on the night of our arrival on 30/11/17 was extremely helpful and efficient in getting us into our room. He is a cheerful lot each day when we meet him at the front desk. Hotel is very clean and convenient. Hotel has a self service laundry facility at no extra charge, very useful. Room is a little small though, but, the service and efficiency of the staffs made it up to all. Kudos 💪🏼Castlereagh.. will return at the next opportunity. F&B, supermarket & shopping are all close by. However, the shops close very early, making it rather boring if one prefers to shop than drink or party! Luckily, the supermarket WOOLWORTHS closes at 10pm and that is a bonus for us. We love Woolloomooloo Darlinghurst, rushcutters bay, Pitts point and barangaroo.. each has its charm and flavour! Interesting architecture skyline too.
Rooms were clean, however, i didnt expect that the room is smaller than i thought. Pictures are misleading =)... but it's ok.The 3 of us fits ourselves in anyway.Bedsheets are neat and comfy, location is great it's just in the heart if the city. Very convenient to walk around. It's a good choice.. Thumbs up Sydney hotel CBD.
The room we were allocated was very noisy. There was a loud machinery noise nearby with a siren sounding every 4 seconds ALL NIGHT! Check in was very slow with few attendants at the counter and many people waiting to check in at the same time.
There are plenty of lovely restaurants with very nice food. There are a lot of nice beaches and parks. The view at night is spectacular! We live in a rural remote area of NSW so cities and traffic are fairly out of our comfort zone. But in saying that we found it reasonably easy to get around. We would love to go to Sydney for a holiday as every trip that we have had there is usually for medical treatment and we are stressed most of the time. It was fantastic being able to find lovely accommodation near the hospital and DRS surgeries.
What I liked most about Sydney is that their public transportation network is so convenient! It is easy to get around the city because they have different options - train, light rail, bus, and even ferry! They have some of their main attractions centered around Central station, so travelling between places in that area is a breeze. My favorite spots were Darling Harbor and Paddy's Market. I was spoilt for choices when it comes to food as well. There are many great cafes in and around Sydney, and even when I was starting to get tired of Western cuisine, there are many different cuisines available in Sydney, from Asian to Middle Eastern. One thing I would avoid next time is using a credit card unless absolutely necessary. The surcharge on credit card transactions is quite high, and paying by cash would be much better on most occasions. Likewise for travelling, although Sydney's public transportation network allows the tapping of credit and debit cards to tap in and out of stations, a better option would be to get an Opal card when you arrive at Sydney's airport, and top up your Opal card by cash. I would also avoid taking public transportation in Sydney whenever I can as the fares are also quite high. If possible, I would walk instead if the place that I'm going to is not too far away.
The location of the hotel property. The rooms itself and the price and quality of the rooms. But as far as service and support is concern well there’s just no care factor there by the staff. That part of the service sis just disgusting and given accordingly.
Sydney Central Business District, Sydney
Situated close to Chinatown was absolutely perfect for a short walk to Paddy's Market, Central Railway Station & the Light Rail to give access to the Airport, Trains & Circular Quay with Ferries on Sydney Harbour to enjoy Taronga Zoo, Manly & a host of other destinations. The cleanliness of Maze was outstanding, due to the efforts of both Management & certainly the guests. Awesome.! Oh, and Maloney's Hotel only 50 metres walk away, is a "must" to visit. Trust me lol
Went here for valentines. Requested the room to be decorated with rose petals and they delivered!!! Room was small compared to other hotels but felt very roomy and cozy at the same time. Everything was brand new, and felt very luxurious. The bed was the best. So comfortable, makes me want to buy one for my own future home. Hotel is located just above Wynyard station so the location is very convenient. Honestly one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had in Sydney. Will come here again!!!
Loved this boutique hotel and will definitely stay there next time I'm in Sydney. I normally stay at luxury hotels in the CBD for work but I enjoyed this stay far more. The room was clean and really comfortable. It was super quiet at night time even tho the hotel its on Oxford St and the staff are really friendly. They have an area downstairs where you can make a coffee and help yourself to a yummy pastry or two in the morning. Thank you Mrs Banks Hotel :)
Sydney
It was just fabulous. Location is ideal, just 2-3 minutes walk to railway station, ferry station just few minutes behind the hotel, various hotels, shops located quite nearby. Apartment was very clean with all necessary kitchen equipment, excellent for the family stay. Property is quiet away from the city traffic noise yet very conviniently located , near to all modes of transport. Very easy to travel to & from airport, major Sydney tourist spots.
The location of the hotel is EXCELLENT. It is located right in the heart of Sydney CBD and Town Hall Station. About 5 to 10 mins away from various attractions such as Sydney Tower Eye, Hyde Park, St Mary's Cathedral, Darling Harbour. Harbour Bridge and Pylon Lookout also walkable distance around 15 mins. There is a Woolworth less than 5 mins walk plus a direct bus to Bondi just outside the hotel.
Sydney Central Business District, Sydney
Excellent location - short & easy walking distance to Darling Harbour / ferry wharf & Crown Barangaroo, within moderate walking distance to Circular Quay & Opera House via Observatory Hill Park or Argyle Street, close to CBD shopping. While contact with staff was limited they were helpful and obliging. The expressway above the building did not present any noise issues for us.
As I need somewhere close to the airport this hotel is great.I like how it’s different to all other hotels in that reception/ cafe are on the top floor giving superb views over the airport and Sydney. The rooms are very quiet and comfortable. So if you looking for something different to the ordinary run of the mill hotel this is certainly worth trying I don’t think you’re be disappointed.
Mascot, Sydney
This hotel is very close to the Sydney Airport domestic terminal and so it nice and convenient for travellers. The room itself was very spacious with a large bed, good desk fro working and fridge/microwave in the room. I stayed for six nights and could easily have stayed for longer. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Sydney for business or need a short stop over.
- The room size was massive, - on quiet areas and the double glassing windows also help to reduce the noise. - the price was very affordable, I would have to paid 4 or 5 times more if I stayed in the hotels in the CBD. - close to amenities, bars, cafes, etc. - close to public transport and on the good (less traffic) days, the cbd only 15-20min away
Parking efficient; check-in very professional; the room was very comfortable and bigger than most hotels. The combination of the heritage and the way it has been modernised makes it a pleasure to come “home” to. My fathers office was in the building when it was a government location in the 1960’s. We have stayed there before and we will be back.
Staff were so lovely and super efficient, and check in and check out were a breeze which is always a plus! Loved that we could use the pool at anytime and for as long as we wanted- which is very different to a few hotels in the Sydney CBD at the moment.
I've stayed here several times. Price is competitive and the included breakfasts are still better than other hotels in this category. It's close to the airport and to some nice restaurants near the train station and a big supermarket.
Sydney Central Business District, Sydney
Location is perfect for the Sydney CBD. Room is cosy and has great design touches. Overall interior design is up there with luxury design hotels. Bar and and upstairs restaurant is a unique rooftop style experience rare to find in Sydney
Bed was comfortable, the room was very spacious and had a wonderful view of Sydney CBD and Parramatta river. I enjoyed this Meriton also Kent and Pitt street Hotels . Look forward to staying in the new Sussex Meriton.
I like that it’s relatively close to the Olympic Park facilities, train station & the food shops at the other hotels
Location and transport to airport is the only feature in this hotels favour.
Best Hotel in Sydney CBD in that price range. Location is more than great.
perfect location for a night at the Casino and Surrounds, great food and Accomm
Staff were amazing, very friendly and approachable. Will definitely stay again
Best hotel we have stayed in Sydney
