Nice city. People are generally friendly & helpful. A lady staff at the town hall station was extremely helpful when we reached the station at night for direction to the castlereagh hotel on 30/11/17. Public servants in particular are primely important to make a difference for all tourist. Public servants are usually the first line of contact for any visitor to a new country. The gentleman who checked us in at the castlereagh hotel on the night of our arrival on 30/11/17 was extremely helpful and efficient in getting us into our room. He is a cheerful lot each day when we meet him at the front desk. Hotel is very clean and convenient. Hotel has a self service laundry facility at no extra charge, very useful. Room is a little small though, but, the service and efficiency of the staffs made it up to all. Kudos 💪🏼Castlereagh.. will return at the next opportunity. F&B, supermarket & shopping are all close by. However, the shops close very early, making it rather boring if one prefers to shop than drink or party! Luckily, the supermarket WOOLWORTHS closes at 10pm and that is a bonus for us. We love Woolloomooloo Darlinghurst, rushcutters bay, Pitts point and barangaroo.. each has its charm and flavour! Interesting architecture skyline too.
Rooms were clean, however, i didnt expect that the room is smaller than i thought. Pictures are misleading =)... but it's ok.The 3 of us fits ourselves in anyway.Bedsheets are neat and comfy, location is great it's just in the heart if the city. Very convenient to walk around. It's a good choice.. Thumbs up Sydney hotel CBD.
There are plenty of lovely restaurants with very nice food. There are a lot of nice beaches and parks. The view at night is spectacular! We live in a rural remote area of NSW so cities and traffic are fairly out of our comfort zone. But in saying that we found it reasonably easy to get around. We would love to go to Sydney for a holiday as every trip that we have had there is usually for medical treatment and we are stressed most of the time. It was fantastic being able to find lovely accommodation near the hospital and DRS surgeries.
What I liked most about Sydney is that their public transportation network is so convenient! It is easy to get around the city because they have different options - train, light rail, bus, and even ferry! They have some of their main attractions centered around Central station, so travelling between places in that area is a breeze. My favorite spots were Darling Harbor and Paddy's Market. I was spoilt for choices when it comes to food as well. There are many great cafes in and around Sydney, and even when I was starting to get tired of Western cuisine, there are many different cuisines available in Sydney, from Asian to Middle Eastern. One thing I would avoid next time is using a credit card unless absolutely necessary. The surcharge on credit card transactions is quite high, and paying by cash would be much better on most occasions. Likewise for travelling, although Sydney's public transportation network allows the tapping of credit and debit cards to tap in and out of stations, a better option would be to get an Opal card when you arrive at Sydney's airport, and top up your Opal card by cash. I would also avoid taking public transportation in Sydney whenever I can as the fares are also quite high. If possible, I would walk instead if the place that I'm going to is not too far away.
The location of the hotel property. The rooms itself and the price and quality of the rooms. But as far as service and support is concern well there’s just no care factor there by the staff. That part of the service sis just disgusting and given accordingly.
Due to COVID restrictions, we haven't been to Sydney for several years. We flew in after visiting relatives in Perth and stayed for four days, just to look around at changes and take in a show at the Capitol Theatre. The extended light rail is a great improvement for travelling around the inner city. We used nothing else. Did a lot of walking, just refreshing our memories of previous stays. Found The Rocks area and Darling Harbour a little depressing compared to previous visits.
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. It is small, but very cozy. The staff is wonderfully helpful and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and accommodated. The design is fresh and chic and very well branded--from their toiletries to the room signage. There is a light rail stop across the street and through a parking garage that takes less than 15 minutes to get into Sydney CBD. This place is perfect for anyone that wants to be on the outskirts of the CBD in a quaint and charming little hotel.
Sydney Central Business District, Sydney
Situated close to Chinatown was absolutely perfect for a short walk to Paddy's Market, Central Railway Station & the Light Rail to give access to the Airport, Trains & Circular Quay with Ferries on Sydney Harbour to enjoy Taronga Zoo, Manly & a host of other destinations. The cleanliness of Maze was outstanding, due to the efforts of both Management & certainly the guests. Awesome.! Oh, and Maloney's Hotel only 50 metres walk away, is a "must" to visit. Trust me lol
Sydney Central Business District, Sydney
The hotel was beyond our expectations on our long weekend to Sydney. We had the most fantastic service (special thanks to Sam for his excellent recommendations for food and activities!), the room was exceptionally clean and well serviced and the location was also more than we could’ve hoped for, especially given the price for the property and that it’s amongst high end hotels such as the Four Seasons and Shangri-La. We couldn’t recommend it any more!!
The location is excellent, right in the middle of the CBD. The Queen Victoria Building is close by and it’s an easy walk to Darling Harbour. We’re walkers, so we walked everywhere - the Rocks, Chinatown, The Phantom, playing at Mrs MacQuarie’s Seat. We arrived by taxi but left on the Airport train which is only a short walk from the hotel (St James Station). Breakfast is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Very good location. Near from all main attractions: some steps from Sydney Cove, 30 min by walking from Sydney Opera. The best way to go from Sydney Airport to hotel is get a taxi. Is more cheaper that use Sydney subway (train). And you need take in consideration that the city is located on the hills and you need to go up or down by the stairs. Breakfast is good. Room is simple, but clean. Staff is very friendly.
The hotel is perfectly located, right in the CBD, walking distance to a number of not-to-miss spots in Sydney including St Mary's Cathedral, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Opera House and Barangaroo. The hotel is also incredibly close to a number of shopping and food options, as well as Chinatown and Darling Square. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I have stayed here multiple times over the last couple of years and will continue to use this hotel when staying in Sydney. The hotel is value for money, it is close to Town Hall station and a short walk to CBD centre, and The Rocks and Darling Harbour. Staff are friendly, its quiet and secure. The rooms and hallways are clean, I have never had an issue with cleanliness at this hotel.
If you're looking for things to do in and around this hotel, forget it. This place is exactly what it is set up to be: a place near the airport to catch your flight or stay a day after your flight. It's perfect for that. Clean, modern, friendly, and easy to get to the airport. It is not near central Sydney but is in a perfect location for the airport...
I had an executive room which was really great and the cost of this room with executive lounge access was better than the same "level" hotels standard rooms around the area. This is why its the only CBD hotel I will now stay at when in Sydney. Walking distance to Darling harbour / china town. A really convenient location for my needs.
I don't think you could find a hotel much closer to the CBD without paying a whole lot more. Very convenient to offices in the CBD and was very suitable for my needs of getting to Phillip St everyday for work. I found the rooms to be comfortable and well kept in the classic Travelodge style.
I'm now a regular guest from NZ, after a few years of choosing to stay in other CBD hotels.15 years ago I was a regular guest under the Westin management and I really feel that Fullerton have turned what was consistently a good experience and raised the bar to excellent. Would highly recommend.
I've stayed here several times. Price is competitive and the included breakfasts are still better than other hotels in this category. It's close to the airport and to some nice restaurants near the train station and a big supermarket.
Great value for money with large first class rooms. Excellent facilities near a number of restaurants. We had an overnight stay pending our early morning flight. I’ve stayed at a number of airport hotels and this one is excellent.
The location is very convenient to the train to/from Sydney airport. The staff were excellent and were exceptionally helpful when our cruise was cancelled, especially as I was unable to connect to the hotel's wifi.
It's very close to the airport, but also to some neighborhoods with a pretty diverse array of things to do (not common with airport hotels). There's a great pie place right across from them that makes a good latte.
Absolutely loved our stay! We’ve done a couple of over-nighters in the CBD in various hotels and this would be one of our favourites. Really relaxed not pretentious or “stuffy”!
The location is good, easy to access the park and Pitt Street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking fee is cheaper than most of the hotels in CBD.
AMAZING view - better than anything I could’ve expected, and this has now jaded me for any other Sydney CBD hotels. Bed was super comfortable as well.
everything. east access and close to darling harbor and amenities. Jewel spa suite room is large and in room jacuzzi is nice
very nice floor and size of space
