Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Everything! Easily my favourite city to visit in Germany so far for its sheer beauty. Amazingly I got last minute tickets to the Semperoper (the opera) to watch “The Magic Flute”.
The architecture, the food, the people are what make Dresden the special place it is.
The Hop on Hop off bus tours are great as they take you to the suburbs in the hills that you would otherwise not get a chance to see. Great views and a good cafe in one suburb to have a coffee.

I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans.
I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans. Two narrow gauge steam trains, only 15 minutes by train away from the main station: Weißeritztalbahn and Lößnitzgrundbahn. The Transport museum (Verkehrshaus) next to the Frauenkirche is also worth a visit. Take the 1.5 hour train east to Zittau and you get to another great and famous narrow gauge steam train line. And you are only scratching the surface here. If you are in the UK, take the Eurostar to London, then continue with the Eurosleeper in a direct train to Dresden. You can even easily make a day trip to Prague!

Dresden’s history is mind boggling.
Dresden’s history is mind boggling. There are so many areas worth exploring, both within the city and on the outskirts. Rapid transit is easy to negotiate.
Dresden was certainly the cultural Center of Germany and, despite being bombed at the end of WW2, the resilience of Dresdeners helped restore a unique city.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history,...
Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc.
But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum)
There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!
I definitely recommend this place. A funky, colorful hotel in Dresden’s hipster area. Nice rooms with coffee machine and kettle. Very friendly and helpful English-speaking staff. Unloading luggage was easy as they have their own loading bay with space for at least 3 cars. Overnight parking in the nearby shopping center was very reasonably priced. Area seems to come alive after 11am when most of the cute artisan shops along the hotel’s street open. Great coffee shops and restaurants around. Loved it!!
Am a regular here and it's a no-brainer for me when it comes to choosing a stay at Dresden it's always this hotel. Perfect location, quiet, 15 minutes walk from the center. The rooms are super clean, the bed is comfortable. I get the best sleep here. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They always give a discount for parking. This time I came with a puppy and they were so lovely with him. They even prepared dog plates for water and some dog snacks in the room.
I came from Australia to experience Dresden, MyBed Dresden was a perfect central location. available kitchen space with wifi access and friendly staff.
located in a traditional style building the area is perfect for an authentic Dresden experience. Very close to supermarkets, restaurants and transport. You can easily travel to the centre of town in under 20minutes.
I would definitely recommend, My best hotel experience in Europe so far.
The location is simply great, it’s only 10 minute walk from the city centre! The main train station is just in front of the hotel, which is super convenient. The hotel room was very functional, squeaky clean, and very well insulated from the outside train noise- very appreciated! The staff was very kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again once we’re back in Dresden!
Spacious and clean. Windows can be opened for ventilation. Well equipped kitchen.
Within walking distance to many attractions and huge mall.
Reception staff were friendly. A guy who checked in me took efforts to explain details to me. This was my first international travel ever since the pandemic and felt great to meet such nice staff in Germany. Thumbs up!
The reception was very close to the Apartment hotel and it was easy to collect the room keys from there.
The host also explained more information while doing check-in.
The location is exceptionally good for walking around the old city center of Dresden.
The host runs the souvenir shop and offers special prices for the guests and also very friendly and kind!
A cosy hotel just next to Dresden Mitte station (you can watch trains from the room, a cool option for railway fans), 10 minutes walk from historical Old Town. Nicely furnished rooms & bathrooms, very tasty breakfast buffet, very helpful reception staff. Perfect spot for sightseeing and chillout
Location, Location, location.
Also, staff service, room size, and room condition... everything is the best of Dresden.
Every morning, we were walking around the hotel... all of place is the best sightseeing place. We love it. If we are going back to Dresden, we will stay here.
Beautiful charming luxury boutique hotel located in a very quite but lovely old part of the town. Relais et Chateaux quality. Pick up of car and ready for departure in front of front door after. Personnel very attentive, profesional and capable. Speaking languages.
Good and friendly hotel in Neustadt, the area where the nice restaurants and bars are. In walking distance of Dresden Altstadt. Also nearby bahnhof Dresden Neustadt, from where you can make trips outside Dresden. The swimming pool was a luxury to have in the morning.
Inconspicuous hotel right next to the Dresden Old Town. Looks like a block of flats, but inside there are spacious renovated rooms, really good breakfest with a variety to chose from and most importantly - its location is terrific. Well recommended!
The hotel location could not be better for seeing old Dresden. Our room was large, luxurious and in good taste with beautiful wood and materials. The staff was professional, helpful and a delight to deal with. We couldn’t have asked for more.
The place is located in the very center of Dresden old town, which made it very convenient to visit museums, the Christmas market and the river. Overall we are very happy that we chose this accomodation.
I was already here three times, so I knew what to expect. It is a clean hotel, the price is cheap for Dresden and it works decently enough if you have some professional activities in the area like I did.
Very nice hotel, good location within 1 km to old town of Dresden, clean rooms, comfortable beds, superb breakfast, polute staff, easily accessible underground parking, would recommend!
