Excellent location, just a 150 ft walk from the Barents bus drop-off at the Thon Hotel and a fraction of the cost of the Thon. Extremely clean and comfortable rooms, floors polished and disinfected daily, we saw this.
Free Coffee from an automatic espresso machine in the lobby.
Owner on site, at least after 11am, let us store luggage in hotel until 6pm departure, let us use comfortable chairs in lobby.
Very convenient, next to a large square with an AJ mini-market for takeaway or eat in food, and a couple of convenience stores 7-11 type, Narvesen and Joker chains.
The apartment features free Wifi and free private parking. The spacious apartment is composed of 5 bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. A flat-screen TV is available.

Beautiful and comfortable, wonderful view and great location.
Located in central Kirkenes, this apartment is 0.9 mi from the Hurtigruten Terminal Kirkenes. It offers free WiFi, air conditioning, as well as a balcony with city views.
A recently renovated apartment, SAGA Overnatting offers accommodations in Kirkenes. There's an outdoor fireplace and guests can use free Wifi and free private parking.
Thanasis, my host, made the trip special. He could not have been more helpful. The accommodation was super and was everything as described. The town itself had everything needed and the township was great to walk around. A tip for those arriving by plane...book a taxi to Kirkenes in advance. It was a blizzard when I arrived and all the taxis were taken. It was freezing and I was lucky that a driver called a taxi. for me or I might still be there. Thanasis drove me back to the airport upon my departure as the bus wasn't timed to coordinate with the plane departure time. An excellent host! I missed the Northern Lights but Thanasis sent me a photograph of them the following night. My timing was off by one night.

Kirkenes is a small pleasant town with few sights but the Grenselandmuseet is well worth a visit. The location is recommended for viewing the Northern Lights but it was too cloudy during our visit (Nov). There are a few restaurants in the centre, the most popular being the Ritz with very good pizzas.

It is the area around Kirkenes that is the main attraction. We travelled to Grensa Jacobselv beach which was beautiful and sunny on the day we visited, same for Ovre Pasvik National Park which was breathtakinlgy beautiful. Both are quite a drive from Kirkenes though and we chose the town to learn about the history from WWII, the hotel had a pool (although it was not operational!!) and as the airport was there. Next time we would definitely go for a cabin in the woods and see the reindeer up close.
In town we ate at Surf n Turf which was decent, waiter had a sense of humour and good was quite good. Nothing spectacular but good enough, depends what you like. The other place we ate in town was Ritz, which was an excellent pizza and we would recommend it for the food but was pricey compared to other towns in Norway; little other choice though. Most other places were closed we assumed due to no tourists, so not worth it or maybe worse closed down following Covid downturn.
The central part of town had the feeling of needing a boost from its Covid slumber.
We loved the area though and will come back, armed with better knowledge than first-timers.

We stayed 5 days, much longer than most visitors because we wanted to maximize the chance to see the northern lights. As it turned out, 4 nights were cloudy and on the last night, the skies cleared a little and being at Sollia and having trekked into the countryside up the hill from the lodge, gave us the best chance to view the lights, just a 10 minute walk from our room.
There were enough activities in kirkenes to keep us amused for 5 days - dog sledding with Birk's (here you're the driver of the sleds), king crab expedition and you drive yourself there on the frozen Barents Sea, the Andersgrotta the underground bunker was very interesting, hiking in the Taiga, and we had to have our daily coffee at Johnny's Lunch Cafe in Kirkenes. Johnny is an Italian and makes coffee the only acceptable way with an Italian Expresso machine. Thank heavens for Johnny's! Coffee in Kirkenes mostly comes out of cafeteria type/press the button coffee.

If you plan to visit the north of Norway in the winter, a stay in Kirkenes will give you the full experience. Area is save, people are friendly and all services like transport ext. works as clockwork. Also a lot to do in the short winters day.
The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Kirkenes with easy access to shops and restaurants. We arrived early but the lovely receptionist was extremely kind and welcoming. Not only did she find us a room with a beautiful view but we were also allowed to check-in ahead of time. Breakfast was included and it was absolutely delicious with so many options from which to choose. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Magical! The huskies, reindeer, snow crabs, ice hotel, staff, and cabins were superb! It was a once in a lifetime trip for me (especially at -24 C)... It was expensive but worth it. I stayed in the cozy cabin, and while the ice rooms were insane with carved sculptures and ice beds, it looked COLD!! The cabins were toasty. Being able to go down to the huskies was so amazing, and they are just the sweetest...
First we tried to enter at the wrong door (the door the picture on booking.com homepage shows), the host showed us the right entrance in the back and showed us how to handle everything and told us where to go for something to eat at 21.00h.
Breakfast was already in the fridge, there was plenty of bread, orange juice, marmelade, eggs and more.
Appartement ist perfect for a short or long stay in Kirkenes.
The property gives you a feeling of home away from home. The hosts are very welcoming and hospitable, the property has much more personality than chain hotels and is conveniently located right next to the port. Would definitely stay here once again if we visit Kirkenes
The staff at the hotel is exceptional. Think top hotel league, but with an Arctic small town twist. Totally made my stay. Sure, the hotel has a great pool and saunas, it is located at the very center of Kirkenes. Yet the staff is what makes this hotel unique.
The staff extremely friendly, breafast and dinner very good. lunch not very exciting. Bacalau both days.😩 very nice cabins. near to the restaurant. a lot of facilities like alaskan huskeu ride, kimg crab fishing, snowscooter trip. DO NOT forget your licence.
Perfect location and beautiful view, comfortable bed.
The owner was very kind and allowed me to dine in the restaurant which is connected to the hotel. I came very late and was very hungry, so I really appreciate the effort and the thought.
the ice rooms in the hotel are incredible
lounge very convenient - common areas, shower, sauna etc very good and clean
staff super friendly and uncomplicated
breakfast and dinner really delicious
very good (warm) sleeping bags :)
There's a good reason why this hotel is so cheap, don't expect anything fancy but for us it was ideal. We liked the fact the hotel had a kitchen for guests. It's a very basic hotel with an attached Chinese restaurant.
Staff helpful with sightseeing suggestions. Breakfast buffet pretty nice. Grocery (called Joker) immediately across the street. Several restaurants, pharmacy, camping store, and small shopping mall within 3 blocks.
Loved the cabin; breakfast was great; dinner was very good; loved touring the Snow or Ice Hotel; enjoyed seeing the huskies; appreciated the support for getting luggage to and from our car to our cabin.
Spacious, comfortable room. Great breakfast with many common and extraordinary options to choose from. Excellent restaurant, tasty food, nice wine list, terrific fjord view.
I don't take breakfast. I was in Kirkenes on Christmas time. Shopping was closed, is difficult rafe the level of service, but I looking for to next visit your city :-)
