Great city for short getaways in the surrounding area, lots to see and do. We visited Zagorohoria, Metsovo, Tzoumerka and the city of Ioannina. It was quite cold and foggy in the mornings but overall we were lucky to have great weather as we heard that it usually rains a lot. Great nightlife options for food and drinks and the city was vibrant due to the Xmas spirit. Would highly recommend visiting.

Beautiful green and historical city by the lake. University city where students and locals keep it bustling day and night all year round. We arrived mid September which meant local workers and school and university students had gone back. Constantly alive with people in the streets and establishment not only on weekends but during the week. Incredible food and coffee in the restaurants and cafes not only lining the lake but also further in. Modern and traditional restaurants everywhere affordable and upmarket. We ate out all the 5 days we were there. Great city to stay in but also as a base to surrounding landmarks and places. Can not wait to go again and stay in this area for at least 14 day.

Ioannina is not a very common tourist destination, but it has some interesting history, and old town and a scenic lake and island. it is centrally located between the coastal area of Parga and the Vikos gorge in the mountains. Also Meteora is not far away. As many cities in Greece it suffers from traffic congestion, noise and trash though.

Nice town - not too big, not too touristy with lots of sites for all tastes a short distance away, from museums to hiking and rafting and lovely mountain villages, archeological ruins, a stalagmite cave and plenty more. Everybody is awfully nice and accommodating .

A very interesting and lively city.
A very interesting and lively city. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the serene lake, the very interesting (and huge number of) bars and cafes that you can discover by walking both along the lake and meandering through some of the narrow streets. The cafes, tavernas and bars are very busy day and night, so there is a fun vibe all summer long. A lot of Turkish history to explore at the Castro/fort in the city and on the island of Ali Pasha reachable by a short ferry ride, and in the part of the city where locals helped Jews hide during the days of Hitler. It is also worth a visit to the underground caves/caverns and to drive up into some of the mountain towns an villages. The locals are extremely friendly people. Driving through the city can be very difficult due to the narrow streets and high volume of cars and pedestrians so it is best to just walk or take a taxi. The mornings and evening tend to be cool and breezy in the summer but afternoons get quite hot.

The best part was the windows, the apartment was quite picturesque, and the windows, while being aluminum or pvc had a faux wood color and appearance, which completed the picture. Very comfortable, within walking distance to pretty much all the main attractions and restaurants/bars within the city center and near the lake. We are traveling around Greece by bicycle, but did an 8 day hiking adventure around Vikos Gorge. I was able to store my bicycle at the hotel for the duration which was great. The plexiglass section of the dining area floor allows a view of ruins under the building. Amazing. Dimitris is such a great staff member, so helpful. He also recommended delicious places for dinner.

There was also parking, rather tight access from the narrow street, but shady and convenient. A good, welcoming family-run hotel. We enjoyed our short stay. The archaeological museum was a short walk away and is really worth going to see! Thank you.
