Discovered Saratoga Springs when my son started Skidmore...
Discovered Saratoga Springs when my son started Skidmore College. He graduated 5 years ago & we still make the 3 hour drive for long weekends. It was clean, friendly staff and good value for the money. It's a typical chain 3-star hotel. Standard self-serve breakfast. I think most people would be pleased, as we were. The small restaurant inside the hotel which was managed by Sheila was unexpectedly good! She really cares about the food and she chats with the customers. Entrance way was very dirty, sand, dirt, cigarette butts! Ironic that there was a broom by doorway.. No, hair dryer, no shade bathroom window, no dresser, shower very tiny. And curtain not secure! If you’ve been to downtown Saratoga, you’ve definitely seen this place, whether it’s been recently or when there used to be a Borders across the street. Clean, modern, cement floors = don’t have to worry about footsteps, some kind of fancy tap system (looks like beer taps) for tea, coffee, water, etc. in the common area, which also is a lounge. Very friendly staff! New A/C that worked so well, and decent space for storing and hanging your belongings.

The swimming pool was big and the jacuzzi pleasant. There we’re outside fire pits lit every evening with chairs and tables nearby to relax in. Parking was immediately to the front of the property. The grounds were well kept. We visited the casino but it was not the focus of our stay.

The Mortons Restaurant on the property is awesome, we had dinner there twice. The city has a free trolly that makes the rounds from the hotel to the thoroughbred track and to downtown Saratoga. The hotel also offers an on demand shuttle van but we did not use it.
