The room was very spacious, clean and top-notch comfort. Amazing view from the rooftop and the pool is beautiful.

The place is new and clean it is central, but on a quiet street. The staff is friendly and helpful. I had a plane to catch and I didn't have breakfast, which I cannot comment on.

The place is really cool, in an old colonial building, centrally located. 20 mins walk to the beach and 10 mins to the ferry harbor. The restaurant downstairs is open late with live music. But then it's very quiet when you sleep. It's right on the street too so that's pretty cool. And you have a nice breakfast there in the morning. Would definitely recommend.

Very homely hotel. The staff was great, located close to beach and walking distance from downtown Mindelo. Epic sunset and sunrise views. Personalized care that makes them a first choice above bigger hotels.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of museums, restaurants, music events, markets, and the culture center. The staff went out of their way to help me and made my stay wonderful!

A great well equipped apartment with an awesome sea view. Elisa is also a great host. We couldn’t meet during check-in but the communication via whatsapp was great and she helped us with everything. During check-out we were able to meet her en she was an amazing person. The location is further from the city, but you can just call a taxi.

Everything was great. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms and facilities were spotless and look recently renovated. You won’t be unhappy staying here

The location was perfect for us to catch the morning ferry to Santo Antao and grab dinner downtown. The staff were also great, they were able to have breakfast ready for us early, so we could eat before we left at 6 am. We both slept very well. Would definitely book again for our next trip.

We absolutely LOVED our family stays here! Basic Hotel came with a nice breakfast, warm water, daily cleaning service, and they even folded our clothes! We also mentioned to them that we were headed on a day trip, to Santo Antao, and asked how breakfast worked on that day, because we had to leave early. They told us they would make us a breakfast package & they gave it to us the night before we left to Santo Antao. The Laginha Beach was only a 15 min walk, from the hotel, but they have quiet hours at 11pm; after being out all day, that was really easy, for our family. If you’re out past daylight, take a taxi home; even Cabo Verdean’s do it, because of the homeless people. Basic Hotel was basic & by no means perfect (couldn’t use the bathtub), but the basic hotel had a clean & safe environment, and made us feel very welcome. Other info: -The rivalry plays in the morning, which was funny to hear it live (not just an alarm tone). -In Mindelo supermarkets, we found bringing a physical card (with pin), was easiest, for CVE money. -Check in was no problem & we paid upon arrival. -We asked about parking, because we had a rental car for a few days, and there was a parking spot close by (maybe 20 steps away) & other spots within walking distance, too. -A supermarket was not far (maybe 5 min walking time), where we bought jugs of water (it’s recommended to use bottled water only, for consumption). -Fruits were bought in the big market hall (beautiful place) called Mercado Municipal Mindelo. -The hotel let us checkout early, gave us breakfast the night before (upon request), arranged a taxi for 5 (had cost 20 Euros total upon airport arrival) & - Use Google translate if you don’t speak Portuguese, with the free hotel wifi

The location and views are simply to die for. It's Serena and silent with very clean rooms. People say that it's far and that doesn't make any sense as the island is very small and the hotel easily accessible.

Excellent value for money and very clean. A big plus is that the staff speak English, which isn't very common in Mindelo. Just a heads-up: after booking, you’ll receive a message from the hotel asking for a deposit/guarantee.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We were given such a warm welcome. Our spacious room had a balcony, which was a bonus. The breakfast, served on the attractive terrace area, was very good indeed. By the end of our stay (one week) we felt that we had become good friends with Lina Elisa and Victor. They helped us plan our stay, and Victor took us on a tour of the island.
