Our host was unbelievable! He was so fun and kind. Picked us up at the train station , we would have been lost without him. We went to a little winery and had ham salami and cheese and wine for dinner with all the local;s. very nice.
It's a good place to stay for a break on the way back from vacation (Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Serbia and so...) Many shopping centers and outlets arround. Close to the highway, easy to exit and get back
Have family living there, that was main reason for visit, however all the locals were very friendly and helpful, except manager of the hotel. The streets were kept very clean and tidy. Some nice cafes and Pizzeria next to our hotel was very good
Monfacone does not seem to be a tourist destination, but rather a busy industrial area. However the downtown is surprisingly pleasant area to walk and enjoy. Lots of coffee/wine/food choices. Feels like an easy going pace and feels very safe.
We did not have the time to visit Monfalcone because it was not on our itinerary; as such I cannot really say much about it but from the little time we had the town did not appear to be particularly exciting.
A city built around the Fincantiari shipyard. But still a good place to base yourself if you want to visit Venice which is just over an hour away by train and costs 10€. Or Trieste which is about 15 minutes away by train. Some wonderful restaurants and bars here and I can recommend Los Spuntino which is superb. Ljubljana is about a 90 minute car drive away and worth a day out, but make sure you get the winscreen sticker that allows you on the Slovenian motorways our you’ll receive a hefty on the spot fine.
