Staying at Hotel Castrum during our visit to Grado was an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel exceeded our expectations in so many ways, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The room were extremely comfortable and well air-conditioned, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The hotel itself is new and modern, with a very convenient elevator that added to the ease of our stay. Its location in the heart of the old town was ideal—everything we wanted to see was just a short walk away. At the same time, the hotel is tucked slightly off the main streets, so we were spared the noise and bustle, which made for peaceful evenings. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. A special thank you to the lovely Polish lady who showed us where to find a fantastic free beach and recommended a restaurant with the best Neapolitan pizza in town. Another staff member went out of her way to lend us her personal bottle opener when we needed one. These small but meaningful gestures made us feel so welcome and well cared for. We were also impressed with how the owners accommodated our need for secure parking, going out of their way to arrange it for us. The breakfasts were fantastic—everything was fresh and delicious, with plenty of options to choose from. We particularly enjoyed sitting at the outdoor tables, savoring our meal under the open sky, surrounded by the charm of the Italian old town. As for Grado itself, the town is simply extraordinary—full of grace, elegance, character, and authentic charm. It’s a place that leaves a long lasting impression, and I truly hope to return one day. When I do, I will undoubtedly choose to stay at Hotel Castrum again. To the owners and staff, thank you so much for everything. I wish you all the best and hope the hotel continues to thrive and grow beautifully!

Brilliant location as described- on the main pedestrian walk into old town and opposite the sea. We could walk into town within 5 minutes. Angela and hotel staff were extremely helpful and pre booked our sun beds on the beach and arranged car parking near the hotel. Breakfast was a highlight!! So much beautiful food- cakes, pastries, cooked eggs, bacon, and meats and cheeses.

The location of the accommodation is very good. It is close to beach entrance 7. The staff is very nice and helpful. They will find a solution to any request. The breakfast is plentiful, the coffee machine is super. About 15-20 minutes comfortable walk to the centre. Parking is possible in the inner courtyard of the accommodation for a fee.

Limited opening times for restaurants in the winter, so check with the establishment directly beforehand. Grado is such an amazing location with its historical center, cathedral and breathtaking landscape; also the surroundings are absolutely wonderful: Gorizia is such a lovely city to visit and, if you have got the chance, go for her Transalpina Railways in the heart of Slovenia :)

An isle, very quiet, not much crowded, there is a possibility to find a free beach easily. Dining and coffee area in the midst of the city is perfect. Old town we loved a lot. It was a perfect location for a trip with small kids (3 and 5 years old)

Quiet yet exciting Italian city with amazing seafood and great beaches. For us as a couple in our late 20s it was the perfect relaxed stay. You can easily cycle, go for a swim, enjoy Café e Cornetto at a local shop... basically anything that you can do in and around e.g. Rome, but less hasty. There are many German and Austrian tourists (but not the drinking-and-partying-kind), so beware if you're allergic to those in your holiday. Also, we didn't encounter any shady dealers or people who try to sell you "premium stuff" at the beaches or in the streets. We recommend 3-5 days of stay, ideally not around the weekend as the parking situation can be sub-par, and public transport (both within Grado and to reach it from e.g. Austria) is not that great.

The town and the sea were beautiful: ideal for long walks, bathing and relaxation. In case of bad weather there is a thermal bath; for daily or half – daily tours Aquileia, Palmanova and Triest are also a good choice to visit. Recomment to visit also in autumn and spring, not only in summer.

A nice little hotel close to the centre of grado (5mins per foot) and also to the beach (10 mins). Our room was clean and spacious and due to an upgrade it even had a little kitchen. The hotel has a little playground in the near of the lobby and the breakfast room so our daughter could play while we enjoyed the great coffee and the varied breakfast (raw and cooked prosciutto, Salami, various cheese, sweets, etc.). Fully recommended

The hotel is perfectly located in Grado Pineta, close to the beach and close to the center (10 min bike ride). Breakfast is good and dinner is also excellent for a very reasonable price. The room is spacious and clean. Swimming pool and relaxing areas are also nice and clean. Free bikes to be used during the stay The best part of this hotel is the staff: kind, available, gentle and helpful. Especially Silvia is a super star.

Great value for the price. They provided us a safe locked space to park our bicycles, at no additional cost.

Large room with everything you need - table, chairs, sofa, dishes, microvawe, gas kitchen, sink. Could easily accomodate 2+2 family if needed. Supermarket no further then 100 meters from the hotel, beach is several minutes by foot, but Grado is quite small city, and everything is close.
