Staying at Hotel Castrum during our visit to Grado was an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel exceeded our expectations in so many ways, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The room were extremely comfortable and well air-conditioned, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The hotel itself is new and modern, with a very convenient elevator that added to the ease of our stay. Its location in the heart of the old town was ideal—everything we wanted to see was just a short walk away. At the same time, the hotel is tucked slightly off the main streets, so we were spared the noise and bustle, which made for peaceful evenings. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. A special thank you to the lovely Polish lady who showed us where to find a fantastic free beach and recommended a restaurant with the best Neapolitan pizza in town. Another staff member went out of her way to lend us her personal bottle opener when we needed one. These small but meaningful gestures made us feel so welcome and well cared for. We were also impressed with how the owners accommodated our need for secure parking, going out of their way to arrange it for us. The breakfasts were fantastic—everything was fresh and delicious, with plenty of options to choose from. We particularly enjoyed sitting at the outdoor tables, savoring our meal under the open sky, surrounded by the charm of the Italian old town. As for Grado itself, the town is simply extraordinary—full of grace, elegance, character, and authentic charm. It’s a place that leaves a long lasting impression, and I truly hope to return one day. When I do, I will undoubtedly choose to stay at Hotel Castrum again. To the owners and staff, thank you so much for everything. I wish you all the best and hope the hotel continues to thrive and grow beautifully!

A lovely family-run hotel right on the seafront — we could see the sea from our window, and it was just a two-minute walk to get there. Breakfasts were tasty and varied, and the staff were always ready to help with anything, from finding a laundry to showing us where to buy groceries on a Sunday. Even though we don’t speak Italian, communication was never a problem since everyone here speaks English and German. We were traveling by bike and could keep them safely under the covered parking area, while charging the batteries in our room. A special thank you as well to the wonderful ladies who took care of the room cleaning.

It's a great place to stay both if just spending your day at the beach and also if You want to visit some nearby places to view. Maybe best to combine the two: when warm and sunny, head to the beach (most places it is mandatory to rent a parasol) and if not, than there is Aquileia, Duino or even Venezia.

Lovely town with active marine activity, many cafes and restaurants, very bike accessible. Some sights to see like the church, the beach, old town, marina, beach promenade. Many hotels mixed with locals makes it feel less like a tourist destination and more homely. Close to other tourist destinations like Aquilea, the Capella di Barnana church on the island, Palmanova, ultimately not far from Venice and Trieste if you want to drive.

Grado is a perfect destination for families. It has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday: clean and well-maintained beaches, a safe and family-friendly atmosphere, plenty of playgrounds and open spaces for children to play, and a great selection of restaurants and cafés. The town has a charming, laid-back vibe that makes it easy to unwind, and the welcoming atmosphere makes both adults and children feel at home. Whether you're looking to spend the day at the beach, enjoy good food, or simply stroll through the picturesque streets, Grado offers a wonderful experience for the whole family.

Nice stroll along the bike road and into the city, over the bridges, out the city to the Grado tree. Limited opening times for restaurants in the winter, so check with the establishment directly beforehand. Tons of collectible seashells at the non-swim beach at the selfie point (Foto Isola del Sole).

The Hotel is family run and they are all very friendly. The location is exceptional, literally on the water and less than 5 mins walk from the closest sand beach if you don't want to swim from the rocks. Old town is also only 5mins walk away. Breakfast included is a great bonus and the breakfast options were very pleasant. But not as pleasant as the view, eating breakfast Infront of the ocean is hard to beat. The room was nice, strong airconditioning in summer, and the linen felt exceptionally clean. Parking was within good proximity.
