We stayed in Jamestown for 1 night during our SD/ND road trip (we’re from NC.) Traveled up from Rapid City, SD to Theodore Roosevelt Nat. Park near Medora. Traveled another 4hrs to spend the night in Jamestown. Jamestown is a quaint little well-kept town. There were plenty of restaurant and hotel options as well as some shopping. We had dinner in the downtown district before heading to our hotel (Fairfield Inn). Woke up the next morning and checked out the World’s Largest Buffalo on our way to Sioux Falls, SD. Unfortunately we’re early risers, so the Buffalo museum was closed (opens 10am). However, they had the gates open so we could still drive up to the Buffalo statue as well as watch the herd of Buffalo roam. We got there about 7am which was when the Buffalo were up and full of energy, so that was awesome! Finally we stopped by Babb’s coffee shop on our way out of town; would recommend that place to anyone! They had SO many flavor options (including sugar free) as well as plenty of food choices. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We grabbed our food and coffee to go and started on our way to Sioux Falls. You won’t regret the stop in Jamestown! :)
Just a stop over travelling back to canada. It was close off the interstate. It happened to be Halloween and the reception offered cookies and treats to everyone. The sushi place for food which was a 5 minute walk completely got our order wrong for some reason. So can’t rate really the quequality of their food. Pillows are important to me and they had great soft pillows. The bed was comfy also. They offered a nice Assortment of food waffles yogurt banana bagels coffee and some egg burritos. There was more but I didn’t take much but it was nice to start your day with a little breakfast. Walmart is just behind the hotel. So if you need to go there it’s a good place to stop. Front reception were friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again
There are lots of birds. This time we went to the Peggy Lee and depot museum in Wimbledon. Very good museum, well curated and restored building. Volunteer guide knows a Peggy Lee and her family. You need to call ahead to make sure there will be a volunteer to open up and give a guided tour.
Jamestown is a small and friendly town, secure and with really nice people. There is not much to do there, Wallmart, swimming pool, bowling, few small shops. You can go to a small park in the middle and walk around and see the world biggest buffalo. Not long to drive to Fargo or Bismark. I stayed there for 8 days. As I was there, visiting my daughter who is studing there in the University and during morning working remotley, it was ok. If I was there as a tourist 1-2 days would be enough.
