The locals are very hospitable and some nice restaurants. Not a whole lot of shopping places although. Weekends are the best to attend some of the lounges. The black jack tables at some lounges were definitely fun too. Idk is a great restaurant and as far as sports bars, corner bar, and wonder bars was good service.
Nice sized town, very friendly. Lots of neat history to explore, beautiful Basilica, nice museum and Frontier Village. The Buffalo museum great, they had a nicely advertised flea market, rivers, nearby reservoir. Warrants a longer visit for sure!
The Grizzly Restaurant on previous visits had slow service but food quite good. Upon entering this trip I was informed that I should not request seating because there were two groups already there and it may be forever before I can get served. Guess they were not prepared to do business---should have just locked their doors. Then went to Applebee's. Was greeted by a young lad who looked like he just got out of bed. FIRST words were, "There's gonna be a wait." No hello, hi or anything. I chose to wait. Got a table ten minutes later. Food was okay and served by a lady who forgot I was there. Jamestown needs to clean up its act big time as this adventure and that at the Hampton Inn represent "lousy".
We needed a place to eat and sleep halfway between Bozeman MT and Hancock MI, so our choices were Jamestown or Valley City. We stayed in Valley City on the way west, so decided to stop in Jamestown on the way back. The Comfort Inn had a great rate and was right off I 94, so we chose it. My husband was very happy to see McDonald's within 100 yards, so we didn't even have to get in the car to get an evening snack. It met our needs quite well.
I returned to Jamestown after 20 years to drop off my son at the Univ. Of Jamestown. Jamestown has a great school with high percentage of international students. The community is very friendly. Home to the natioal bison museum and 3 white buffalo (very rare and sacred). Many other sites for history and fun outdoors (summer & winter).
Jamestown seems like a nice place. I liked that it was very easy to find a "chain" grocery store. The fresh foof and veggies was nice to have. The Buffalo/Frontier Village was great...though the bison seemed to be in hiding!, but I am sure that was an anomaly. A staff person took me outside to show me where they usually hang out, which was very nice of them.

The shower was so comfortable and relaxing. Good water temperature. I enjoyed the hand held shower. Although I didn't need it, I was glad see a shower seat was provided. Also, I was alone with 2 heavy duffle bags (from 1 week with the Jamestown Covered Wagon Train) and a young man helped to carry my baggage down the stairs to my first floor room. I had a flight out of Jamestown the following morning, and the desk clerk let me know when I should leave the motel in time. He also offered a wake up call to me.

breakfast wasn't good. I used my card to reserve the room but when we got there my wife used hers and both cards were charged and the hotel desk clerk was very rude about it and told me to call the manager on Monday so I did and she was even more rude than the clerk. so we wont be staying there ever again.
