I loved the location because it was a short walk from the main beach and the restaurants and shops. I loved the front desk reception people, they helped us book activities and were always finding ways to make our stay better! There is also a beautiful and delicious italian restaurant on the property as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The staff was amazing. Paola is wonderful. It's in a safe and secure part between the beach and the center of Santa Maria. A grocery store is close. The people in the neighborhood are great and super friendly. There are so many great restaurants around that are affordable. There are 2 restaurants within a block of this location. My favorite part was watching people pass by on the street from my balcony. Paola and Mano are there to help you out. They are the friendly faces that are there twice a day to get you set up if you need to.....but you don't have to do anything if you don't want to. Wifi is great. Everything was SO easy. From the airport to Sakaroule. I spent 3 weeks here. I don't know where the time went, but it was a great place to call home and I am so grateful to Paola for her wonderful hospitality. Don't go to the big overpriced hotels. This is a very special place and if I ever come back, I would stay here again. Minutes from the beach. Minutes from great restaurants. Minutes from the central walk. Minutes from culture. Minutes from a shopping center. No taxi is needed. Most excursions will also pick you up from Sakaroule which Mano will set up for you if you need assistance with language or activity ideas.

had such a wonderful stay at Apartments Antunes in Sal, Cape Verde! The host, Mr. Antunes — a former coach of the Cape Verde national football team — was incredibly welcoming and kind. From the moment I arrived, I felt like part of the family. He personally picked me up from the airport for just 15 euros, and also drove me back at the same fair price. He even offered me a late check-out with no problem at all. The apartment itself was super cozy, clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. What truly made the difference was his hospitality — he greeted me with a big smile and told me: “Mi casa es tu casa.” And he meant it. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend staying here if you want to feel at home in Cape Verde!

My stay started off worrisome, but Roderick worked with me to make it amazing in the end. A new club/bar had just opened across the street right before I arrived. So, the first night, I didn't sleep at all. I even tried 2 different types of ear plugs, but the bass was so loud that it was shaking my bed... until 2 or 3 in the morning. I told Roderick the next morning and he moved me to another room. Still noisy, so he moved me once again the next day. At this point, other guests were also complaining so he went to talk to the new owners. After that, it was smooth sailing. The noise from that club pretty much stopped for the rest of my 8-day holiday. My final apartment had a lovely view of the sea, was stocked with everything I needed, had fast wifi, and was in a great location. The bed is big and comfy and the rooftop terrace is a great place to chill. It's still noisy at night, being in the center of the city. But I was fine after the new bar was sorted, even without ear plugs. I was in the sea view apartment on the top floor. There are tons of options for eating in the area and there's a dive shop across the street, and a small surf break. I could literally roll out of bed and be prepping for a dive or renting a surf board in less than 2 min. The beach is wonderful too. Stretching for miles with plenty of space for everyone. You could even find relatively deserted spots if you walked 15 min down the beach either way. There was a bit of hassling from local sellers, but they were mostly respectful of the first "no thanks." The streets were surprisingly clean. All-in-all, I had a fantastic time. If you are a beach/water sport person, this is the place to be to escape European winters.

Casa Pau is a recently renovated country house in Santa Maria where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge.

Nice large room on the edge of town away from large resorts. Great ceiling fan (no AC) which had a consistent white noise that blocked out all noise, for a quiet great night of sleep. Well planned room with plenty of practically placed shelves and hooks to put items. The 20 euro airport pickup for our 1am checkin went smoothly. 5min walk from a small grocery and the water where you can see a great sunset. Great communication with host on WhatsApp.
