We were welcomed by our hosts and immediately felt welcome. Service was great and was tailored to whatever we needed. Reaching the hotel after a long hike on day two felt like coming home. We definitely recommend this excellent place!

Property was as good as it gets, no complaints. Only thing is that there are no shopping facilities closeby so you need to make sure not to forget anything as it would be a 30 mins return walk to go and buy it. But you cannot blame the property for that.

Matteral Lodge is tucked away in the perfect little spot in Embd—peaceful, scenic, and just the right kind of remote. Inside, it’s super clean, plenty of space to spread out, and there’s this surprise gem of a balcony that runs across the rooms, complete with a barbecue and absolutely unreal mountain views. Trust me, your camera roll won’t stand a chance.

Otto, fully stocked up the fridge with food and drinks. The wine fridge was stocked up and had champagne, prosecco, red and white wine. We didn't have to leave the place to go and buy food which saved us a lot of money! I am pescatarian and he provided salmon and fish fillet! There was veg and non veg food stocked up. He has a lot of seasoning too! It is a 15 min walk from Stalden-Saas station, however if Otto is around he will pick you up or drop you off. We came here as we wanted to do a pre-wed photo shoot. The owner has lots of connections including having a helipad on his property. So we did a Zermatt helicopter tour for 1,000 CHF. I would definitely come back with just me and my partner to relax as we were so busy with out photoshoot.
