Terrazas En El Bosque Cabañas is set in Malargüe, 19 mi from Atuel river. Free WiFi is featured throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted on arrival and brought to our chalet where we were shown around and everything was explained. We were given a brochure, map and information on places to visit. We left our contact details and were sent messages on times of tours, dates when tours were taking place, etc. Breakfast was good and was brought to our room. We chose the time it was to be delivered - a very good service. The chalets are surrounded by trees so kept quite cool. Everything was so clean and smelt so fresh. The cleaners do a wonderful job and came in daily. So good to come back at the end of the day to fresh towels, soap, bins emptied, beds made and everything clean and tidy again. Comfortable beds, nicely furnished .... we would definitely recommend this place.

Nice town with plenty of shops and eating places. We visited the Malacara volcano and went inside, one of only 3 of it's kind in the world. Well worth the 3 hour tour, it was amazing. Also visited Las Lenas in the mountains. This was spectacular ... definitely one trip to make while you're here. We also tried to access Laguna Llancanelo to see the flamingoes but unfortunately trips have stopped because of the low water levels and dried up water beds, apparently due to climate change. We did drive to the entrance though along the very bumpy unmade road and were lucky enough to see the flamingoes way off in the distance with binoculars. Unfortunately we ran out of time to take the 12 hour day trip to see the 800 volcanoes.
Conveniently located for a Chile-Argentina crossing!, with beautiful views along the way (mind the winds!). If you want to visit Cuevas de las Brujas, Oman ahead. 2 hours visit. We unfortunately had to skip it.
It is a nice place to go by Motorcycle crossing Paso Pehuenche and enjoy the scenery of Laguna del Maule. The pass is paved almost 90% and roads are less used than other Chile - Argentina passes. Nice chivitos in Malargue, El Bodegon de Maria is the place.
Malargue is a safe town and we did not have time to explore the various attractions. There is a lake close with 1500 species of birds including pink flamingos. There's also an observatory we would have liked to visit.
Malarguë as a town doesn't have much to offer but the tour to the Pajunia park, although a lot of bumpy travel to get there is worth the effort for the spectacular volcanic scenery on arrival. Other tours are also available.
I have been traveling to Malargue at least once a year since 2009 for work-related reasons. Only over time I realized how exceptional a place it is within Argentina, unbelievably packed with sights within the reach of a day trip The Andes are just 20 kilometers away with several roads that can be explored in a normal car and endless hiking options. La Payunia, just 3 hours drive south, is one of world's greatest volcanic landscapes. There is a publicly accessible cave in Bardas Blancas, several hot springs (the best near Sosneado), a saltwater lagoon occasionally hosting huge flamingo flocks in Llancanello and even the Atuel canyon with rafting and other activities is not that far. As a bonus, you can explore the Pierre Auger Observatory, the world's largest cosmic ray experiment, with headquarters right outside town. And there is even nearby skiing in winter!
