Lovely town to vist, people so friendly and welcome every travelers. Cafe, shop, supermarket, petrol station located in town, very convenience and relax holiday. Short drive to Merimbula, Eden and Tathra.
Bega's biggest attraction is the cheese factory - however this is closed due to COVID-19 (this is no longer a valid reason - we were able to stop at the Bodalla cheese stop, which was extremely busy).
We were there to meet up with 9 friends, 7 of whom live in Bega area. We had a great meal in the Bowling Club, but had to move on next day, driving up the beautiful Bega Valley to Cooma. From previous visits I know Bega to be a fine town with great countryside, both coastal and rural. I also love your cheese!
The town was obviously struggling - even before the fires. Typical of regional towns across Australia. One baker and one cafe open for breakfast at 8.45 am. Haven't been to Bega in 20 years and it was a shock. Hope they get the injection of $$$ they need to rejuvenate. Worth a look - definitely worth helping via tourist dollars. Need a car to get around.
The customer service was very good, especially given the power outage, terrible heat and smoke haze. We only stayed overnight heading to Sydney. I'd like to revisit when we can stay and linger. Great room, good facilities with a comfortable bed.
Many, many times through the Town but it has rarely extended an invitation to me to stay longer. Nothing I can pinpoint. Perhaps telling is the fact that I have travelled through this town in my journeys over the past 60 odd years and this is the FIRST time I have stayed overnight. It suited me to do so on this occasion but I have never thought of it as an overnight stay or waypoint before. Not sure why but was quite happy to do so on this occasion. Perhaps also telling is that I couldn't bring myself to click on any of the choices in question 4. None of these choices are unpleasant but neither were they outstanding characteristics of the area or township. Bega is part of a very beautiful low south coast area of NSW and that ticks a lot of boxes in itself but not one of these boxes is enough to entice you further south or north, if you know what I mean? Bega is Bega. Perhaps also it could be marketed as the eastern coastal entrance to head towards the Snowy Mountains region, high country or Canberra.
Bega
Location was great, a good walk down to the town centre past all the lovely old homes. Great views of the Bega valley along the way. The unit was really comfortable, clean and well appointed. Check in was easy and we were greeted by the owners lovely border collie. A very relaxed stay.
Bega
This was a budget motel, so we were delighted with the newish bathroom. The kitchenette was tiny but adequate to have made a simple meal if we’d required to make one. Value for money, modest but good.
Bega
