We recently stayed at The Ridge House with our two young children and had the most incredible family experience. The house is absolutely amazing, tucked away in nature with breathtaking views. We were so impressed by how everything is done with such respect for the nature, from the decor to the stunning views, this house was created to honor both the environment and the human spirit. It's a place that feels wild and wonderfully cozy at the same time. We loved exploring the area and going to the beach, but the most liberating part was simply being in the house. Even though we aren't a quiet family, the peace of the place seemed to take us in, making every moment feel truly magical and lovely. It's the perfect place to reconnect and return to what truly matters.

The deck was my favourite spot, although even lazing in bed I had a great view of the Daintree and surrounding mountains. We chose to eat at the hotel where the meals are excellent, although a tad too big:). Take a vehicle as you'll want to cross the Daintree and enjoy the drive up to Cape Tribulation with some gorgeous walks along the way. We cruised with Solar Whisper to view crocodiles and other wildlife in their natural habitat and saw many memorable sights.

Beautiful part of Australia.

Beautiful part of Australia. Would recommend you have your own transport and look at staying for a week or so to take in all the different parts of this area. We visited in July and the weather was warm during the day but cold at night. Definitely recommend a river boat cruise of the upper Daintree River.

Spent 2 nights and 2 full days in the Daintree which was the perfect amount of time to discover all the four boardwalks. One of the few relatively untouched and developed areas in Australia - keep the car ferry - No Bridge!

Daintree Village is a small town with few facilities, it is really a jumping off point for boat tours or road trips into the forest areas or coast. There is one pub, with meals served until 7pm. There are no other evening eateries in the town so be aware that they also do a roaring trade in takeaways so meals can take a while to come out. A cafe operates in the day, with a gift shop next door and a tourist information stand. We enjoyed the quiet nature of the town though, with the Daintree River close by. If you are heading north, be aware that the car ferry is quite costly ($51 return per day), and we were advised that the cost is going to rise again in July.

Daintree is OK for a one-day visit.

Daintree is OK for a one-day visit. That is enough time to take in the views of the beaches and to do all the boardwalks. You need to stock up on groceries before arriving if you are self-catering - the grocery options are very limited. There is no swimming on any of the beaches.

Loved this place from the moment we walked into the office. Rooms were perfect for what we needed and the communal living space had everything you needed to sort breakfast, lunch and dinner, it was also the perfect place to meet people. Loved chatting to Mick about his adventures and life in the Daintree - we will be back when the pool goes in haha
