The Sandpiper, hotel in Saint James

Located in the Holetown district of Saint James with water sports facilities and an outdoor swimming pool, The Sandpiper offers accommodations with free WiFi.

Never visited the Sandpiper before but was really delighted with the whole experience, albeit just for a weekend stay. The room was well fitted out, all conveniences provided for, the breakfast was excellent, the staff really really friendly. All in all felt like an extension of home which is the best compliment I can give!

upon our arrival, they warmly welcomed us and showed us the whole house, which is spacious, clean and in a quiet environment. we really liked it there and highly recommend it. The owners of the house Pat and John are very nice. Pat prepared a fish for us which was very good. we really liked that there is a shower outside that you can use when you come from the beach. The location was great, close to everywhere.

The hotel upgraded my room when I go to Barbados - and immediately I was grateful. The staff were friendly and really helped me get around Barbados. The hotel restaurant menu is limited though, and doesnt open on Mondays, which is strange. But the staff hooked me up with the HopScoth website which is Barbados version of Ubereats.

We stayed at Gully Point in Hometown, Saint James, Barbados,...

We stayed at Gully Point in Hometown, Saint James, Barbados, which was an excellent Villa 15 mins walk to the beach/town. The beaches are excellent, some with less or slightly more rocks depending on where you are, but able to enjoy the water and beach at many locations fairly easily. If you're not wanting to spend too much $$ for a fancy beachside restaurant, you can often rent a pair of chairs and umbrella for ~ $20 USD for the day and bring your own drinks/food. The city of Holetown has everything you need from grocery store, Starbucks, restaurants, beachside bars and restaurants. There are locals who will offer seadoo or various other water sport experiences, but be sure to bargain otherwise it can get very expensive. Very good overall beach area to visit, safe, but it is a bit on the pricier side in comparison to other islands.

There are 2 or 3 main areas for "stuff" in Barbados... there's the area around Worthing Beach / Carlisle Beach / Christchurch - just south of Bridgetown known as St Lawrence Gap / Oistins. There's Speightstown ...and there's St James - known as the platinum coast. St James has good beaches and some of the best restaurants and bars on the Island. Great supermarkets for the self-catering traveller and amazing hotels for those who want cosseting.

I only spent a day in St James but I found it to be more peaceful than the Southern coast. The beache I visited was just as lovely as the nicest beach I visited in Worthing. there were fewer shopping opportunities as the area is mostly residential with more impressive hotels

Great location with plenty of nice bars, restaurants, beach access and shops. Busy highway running through but accommodation is plentiful and it isn’t hard to find a quiet spot. The Tides, Seashed and Fusion are all great options. Buses and taxis readily available everywhere.

I enjoyed it every bit. The hotel is elegant yet laid back and is a bit immersed in nature. The beach is not huge but it is a delight, the winding pool is excellent, quite different to the typical hotel pools. The staff was very attentive at all times. At mid-morning someone would come with complimentary slices of fresh fruit, there was also complimentary fruit water throughout the whole day in the beach area.

Food was very good for an all-inclusive and staff were super friendly and helpful. The beach backing on to to the hotel was well maintained and offered various water sports and the rooms were comfortable and in a decent shape. And, if you wanted a change, the water taxi linking Waves to the other Elegant hotels (where you could be use all their facilities) was an added bonus. Oh, and my wife liked the spa!

Really friendly hotel with great staff and good facilities. Our room (the 2 bedroom) was well designed and perfect for a family. We had good kitchen facilities, a great washer / dryer, and very comfy beds.

The hotel was an absolute disgrace. Dirty, falling to bits and an overall very very poor experience, especially for the £3,800 we paid for 5 nights.
