Safe location, handy supermarkets, handy for beach well served by yellow buses and not far from city Friendly locals Beware of the early wake up call - cockrell, or perhaps that's a good thing!
Beach access very restricted due to walled and fenced off properties in the way. Restaurants and bars overcrowded. However a good and well stocked Supermarket, Shopping Mall has overpriced ‘fine dining’ restaurants with the same quality food found in Beach Bar menus. Efficient Medical Centre. If you are over 70 you need a Doctor’s Certificate to drive a rental car in Barbados, which you can get here. Taxis frequent and fares consistent. Recommend renting a car for a few days to explore and visit beaches further north.
If you head north to Cove bay lookout for Andrew, ( a big man with a world of information) Don't be put off when he asks you to allow him in the car to take you to cove bay, he is like an unofficial tour guide and will spend an hour or two of his time sharing his local knowledge of past and present. Please be generous when giving him a 'tip' as this is his source of income and worth every penny. Thank you Andrew we really enjoyed our tour God Bless
Paynes beach is glorious, and locals very friendly. I chose to go there as it had a reef, and I like snorkelling, but there is nothing to see , the water was more choppy than I expected, and goes deep very quickly. The road is the main coastal road and very busy, the noise from the yellow buses ( they remove the buffles from the exhaust ,to sound more macho...think ferrari with broken exhaust!)is extrordinary, they pass every 5 minutes, and the levels of exhaust fumes is unbelievable. If your accomodation is close to the road, check about double glazing and sound proofing. A few scruffy local cafes, but food is good
Beautiful beaches, good restaurants although it’s a shame since covid some have closed ie CIN CIN Christmas Day at The Fairmount was terrible BBD 275 dollars per head, sat at 7pmnot had our starter by 8.30,no water or wine Food was ok when it came but not hot Asked for pepper & was delivered little sachets rather than a pepper mill The table still had empty glasses from our gin & tonic at 7 & our sons sprite bottle when we left at 22.15 We were literally about to walk out at one point as we were so upset as it was our Christmas Day but the staff insisted we stay..... Bearing in mind this is a 5* establishment The staff were out of their depth despite the restaurant being half empty
St James in Barbados is a very nice area to stay there some lovely beaches great restaurants, sovereign shops and also transportation is easy to acquire. Also there a movie house in the area , a post office as well and as you know lovely villas , apartments, hotels to mention a few.great area to visit when you visit Barbados
Lovely location for a quite family vacation. Close to several shopping sites - Chattel Village, Limegrove etc. Great ice cream across the street for kids and those with a sweet tooth, and several restaurants next door and across the street. Holetown is accessible by bus and taxi - great for dining out! Water Sports available at the hotel are worth the stay - water skiing, paddle boards, snorkel equipment etc all included and totally worth the price of the hotel. Great family programming for young kids and teens.
The perfect place to stay. Great mix of hotel / apartment. There was all the support you needed from it being a hotel (help with tours, taxis, spa, gym, restaurant etc.), and all the freedom of a flat (GREAT kitchen, washer/drier, lounge etc.). There was also a cafe that had pre-prepared food etc if you wanted to 'cook' at home without the effort. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I left to go to another hotel and I regret it. I wish I stayed at Beach View my whole stay.
Saint James
We loved our stay at West Rock Villas. Our house was spotlessly clean, very nicely decorated, spacious and bright. Kitchen had everything what we needed and even more. Bedroom was really beautiful and lovely. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. From staff, we mainly talked to housekeeper Sandra, who was so helpful, friendly and nice, that there aren`t enough good words for her :) I 100% recommend West Rock Villas if You wish to have nice, private and more peaceful stay in Barbados.
We had to stay here , while waiting for our PCR test . Staff super friendly. Rooms great nice and big . Shame no welcome pack tea, coffee etc . WiFi really really bad , we could not order from the supermarket due to bad WiFi so had to eat hotel food every day an extra $590 on our bill , if you have to quarantine bring snacks , tea, coffee, salt , pepper and crisps ....... no crisps in the hotel ????? You may have to wait 72 hours for your results.
Holetown, Saint James
Great hotel and location , The staff are very attentive and nothing is to much trouble. The location really is one of the best spots on the island. Lots and lots of returning guests and I think this demonstrates very well what a wonderful family owned hotel this is.
The hotel is very pleasant, nice and small, without kids so very relaxing and romantic. Located right on the beach with water activities next door at a sister hotel. Staff in general were very friendly, food was excellent and overall a lovely place to stay.
Saint James
not enough can be said about our wonderful host Denise and her family: they were very welcoming and very kind to us during our whole visit. when we return to Barbados this will always be our choice of where to stay…. I cannot imagine anything more wonderful.
Everything was great, bathroom a little outdated, but nothing that would ruin the experience. Cafe was great, with treats and excellent snack options. Hotel atmosphere is quiet, plenty of space with and awesome patio if you are tired from the beach.
Holetown, Saint James
This is our second time at this hotel and we will be back. The location is great, the staff is very helpful and fun.
Saint James
The location is a bit retired from the main tourist attractions but great to live the Barbados experience.

Classy hotel
Holetown, Saint James
It’s a semi modern property in an exclusive area of great beaches, shopping, with good medical, police, and other necessary services within a very short walk. The food is especially good for an all inclusive and the service and staff are great. This isn’t appropriate for someone looking for a luxury resort, but if you don’t need fancy it’s a very quaint and nice place.
Saint James
Best E Villas was so comfortable, almost like home. Quiet neighborhood except for morning roosters. Close to Batts Rock Beach. Free parking. Nice pool. The most well appointed kitchen EVER. The outdoor dining space with a good gas grill was also very nice. The staff was fabulous; Treated us like family.
