Great town with many shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Saturday morning market was impressive. Coast line tram service runs up most of the Belgium coast (we had a day in Ostend). Although a small town, the centre is very full with shops, food stalls and restraurant. Fries, ice-cream and chocolate are all there. Although as :Belgium, I'd expect way more chocolate shops. The beach is long and not crowded. It is fitted with cabins that can be rented. There is an amusement park (and water park) which can make for a fun day out. You'd need to book it. There are not halal food places around, and the closest thing is across the French border (~20KM).

There was a market in the centre that was lively and full of interesting things. De Panne is expensive and even moderate restaurants cost Euro 70/80 for two. THe beach is long and sandy so ideal for those with children.

Hidden gem. Miles of soft sand, with sheltered eating/drinking restaurants on the beach. Miles of promenade, easily accessed with the hire of a bicycle or cart. Warm and friendly Manager, rooms are above the bar and breakfast area, clean and well presented. Lovely old styled Bar was well priced, and the bar quiet the night we stayed. Breakfast is pre-ordered and a full choice, served with refills of tea &coffee as required.
