Do yourself a favor and rent a car and check out every beach on the northern part of the island as much as possible! If you’re staying on paradise island, take the short walk to the ferry and take that boat to the island instead of a taxi ride- the “ferry directors” are very entertaining & will share some fun facts about the area.
I’m in love with Nassau. This island gives you experiences like no other. I feel sorry for people who come here and stay at a resort. A resort in which they never leave. So they never get to actually experience the culture here. The people here are incredible. The celebrations are like no place I’ve ever seen. The friends I’ve made here ... saying goodbye is always the hardest thing ..
Well, Bahamas are hugely overpriced and this will definitely not be my destination to return to. But I know a lot of people, for whom Bahamas are their cup of tea. It's just doesn't include myself.
The beaches in the Bahamas are beautiful. It is a little challenging to get around with driving on the opposite side of the roads. We went to the Exuma islands and did a swimming with the pigs excursion. Expensive but would highly recommend. A day you will never forget. We all agreed we would love to do it again.
The natives are friendly and very helpful, even a mentality challenged man we met on our way to the Arawak Cay beach stepped off the sidewalk and allowed us to go by him. I had to indulge in my water coconut of course but had no local fruits. I will be back to explore more as my time was limited but I enjoyed Buju Banton's Long Walk To Freedom concert, that was my main reason in the Bahamas. The sea water was cold but I took a dip, I love the easy access to transportation (taxis) and the willingness of the drivers to share their knowledge of the island and giving us tips of places to visit, did not get the chance to visit any sights but will be back to visit some sights. I will indeed be back as I had fun.
Nassau is great with lots of quiet beaches. The people are friendly and helpful. The driving is easy and roads are well marked. The food is fantastic. Ive been there 6 times and will return. I recommend Cable Beach Hotels over those on Paradise Island...unless you are making daily trips to Atlantis.

Incredible sea life and gorgeous beach, opportunities to engage with marine animals is unparalleled. We paid to spend an hour with a sea lion at Dolphin Cay inside Atlantis, which was an incredible experience, but overall disorganized, crowded with 12 in our group, rushed, and expensive to buy the photos. You are not allowed to take your own photos. You do get access to the best beach I have ever seen, but the un-included 50 Resort fee and 10 beach access fees seemed high to me since we already were paying so much per night.
