Our time in Canmore was absolutely fantastic.

Our time in Canmore was absolutely fantastic. The town has everything you need for daily life, but it also offers a great variety of tourist attractions and activities. The surrounding hiking trails are exceptionally well-marked, with plenty of information along the way, and the scenery is simply breathtaking. If you haven’t seen the Bow River in person, you’re really missing out—it’s a must-see highlight of the area. We took a day trip to Jasper, including the Columbia Icefield—highly recommended! In hindsight, however, the drive back from Jasper felt very long and tiring, so next time I would definitely plan to stay overnight instead of returning the same day. Our itinerary also included excursions to Banff, which is conveniently close to Canmore. Exploring Banff’s attractions and hiking trails was easily manageable. We especially recommend the Johnston Canyon hike to the waterfalls. It’s an incredibly beautiful trail, not too strenuous, and definitely worth your time. On a rainy day, we tried an audio-guided driving tour and were genuinely impressed by how much we learned—it was both engaging and informative. A boat trip on Lake Minnewanka turned out to be well worth the cost as well. All in all, Canmore is an ideal base to explore the Canadian Rockies, offering plenty for both adventure seekers and those just looking to relax and enjoy the nature.

Excellent restaurants, great biking paths and parks.

Excellent restaurants, great biking paths and parks. Compared to Banff, it is a calm oasis and perfect for enjoying an evening out strolling the downtown area. Loved staying in this town as well as our accommodations.

Banff is extremely crowded and overrun with tourists.

Banff is extremely crowded and overrun with tourists. Canmore is more laid back and easier to get around. It has excellent dining options. It's were the locals live - it's way more authentic. The distance from the activities in Banff isn't a problem - it would take you the same time to get out of the Banff downtown traffic and tackle Banff's parking problems as it does to drive down the freeway from Canmore. The Malcolm hotel is the best place to stay in Canmore.

Canmore is a great option for those visiting Banff National Park. The area is easy on/off the highway and the main street is full of restaurants, shops, and I found it to be less crowded than downtown Banff while offering the same mountain character. Definitely consider Cranmore as your place to stay in the Canadian Rockies!

We love the Grassi Lake hike near the town.

We love the Grassi Lake hike near the town. The town has many restaurant options. And 20 minutes to Banff National Park is a real plus. Banff is one of the most beautiful place I have ever visited, though extremely popular. Great scenery, but also lots of tourists.

Canmore was a perfect location for access to national parks, Lake Lousie, golf courses and Banff, yet quieter and more relaxed than the town of Banff which was very busy. Plenty of great food options and shopping as well as nice to walk around.

We were not expecting much from a chain hotel, but were very impressed by the whole place. We have booked future stays at Coast hotels on the strength of this visit. The staff were helpful, the room large, and the gym well equipped with nearly new equipment including Pelton bikes. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Canmore is a lovely little town, without the crowds and chaos of Banff

We opt to stay at Canmore instead of Banff, mainly because of the cost, even tough we focused on the Banff park. We were satisfied with this choice. The inn is very spacious, well-located (if you have a car, of course) and they are worried about the cleaness - the guests need to leave their shoes outside and use slippers provided by the place.

Suites / Apartments are very well equipped. Beds very comfortable. We were in the middle of our stay in Canada, washing machine and dryer helped a lot. Resort has a small pool, kids used it and had a great fun. Gym is very nice, opened only till 19:00 during our stay. Parking is in the underground garage, elevator and you are in the room..

This was a great hotel for exploring Canmore and Banff. Plenty of good food nearby and only a short drive into the town of Banff. A little pricey for what it is but in line with other hotels and prices in the area.
