Ganges has a number of restaurants and coffee shops but in many cases hours are somewhat limited (likely due to staff shortages at this time). There is plenty going on (including the busy Saturday market) as well as a variety of outdoor activities available to warrant a 3 day or longer stay. We have stayed in or near Ganges a number of times, and plan to return at least once each year, hopefully more.
Ganges is a lovely little walkable town But parking can be a problem. Lots of really cute little shops and eating spots. Really nice marina setting with areas to sit and enjoy the view. Fascinating history and a ton of scenic drives within minutes of the village. Saturday market has an incredible mix of crafts, food, and interesting local handiwork. We made breakfast of it with some amazing local pastries, bread, potstickers and coffee. Sat in the adjacent park and enjoyed the ambience. The perfect ending to a couple lovely days in the area. We drove all over the island and enjoyed the views from one end to the other. Went biking at Ruckle farm, had an amazing lunch at the Rocksalt café, sampled craft beer, goat cheese, local moonshine and met many very friendly local folks. Really a wonderful way to spend our anniversary getaway.
It is a small island so doesn't take long to go from place to place. The studios are varied and interesting, the beaches are a great source of shells, the ocean was calm and wonderful to watch the seals play The town itself is small with local boutiques and a very interesting market on Saturdays that the local artist display their wares. There is not a good steak house, but lots of places to eat
Although very busy even in early May, the downtown core was lovely and charming, free from any chain stores. The Saturday Market is a must. We were a little disappointed the museum was not opened as per its web site but happened upon some very well placed historic plaques in the downtown area.
Small town with lots of good eating places and interesting stores. Plenty of free parking. Easy to explore on foot with pleasant harbour-side walks. We enjoyed good evening meals at the Saltspring Inn, the Treehouse, Harbour House Hotel and House Piccolo - small fine dining restaurant with excellent menu with Scandinavian influence. Good breakfasts at the Treehouse - we went every morning. Had a good lunch at the Oyster Catcher with lovely harbour views. All areas of the island accessible within 30 minutes by car. Particularly enjoyed Maxwell Park. Good restaurants for lunch at Vesuvius and Fulford harbours. Excellent national art exhibition in centre of Ganges.
We had a room facing the water and marina that had very comfortable chairs and a small table and chairs so you could have a snack or cocktail outside...so it was a great perch to appreciate the surroundings. (View in picture) Net net, we felt SO welcome and appreciated. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The restaurant, Woodly's is quite good. Lots of options for breakfast - and very generous servings. Dinner options were plentiful with very interesting additional entrees,

We had a fully equipped kitchen in our cabin, so our breakfasts by the lake were just as we like them: by the fire and coffee down at the dock communing with nature. So peaceful and relaxing! Allison and Wes were welcoming and over-the-top helpful!!! Wonderful visit thanks to them! Love Cusheon Lake Resort on Salt Spring Island!
Ganges
The breakfast was absolutely delicious and plentiful! The grounds were stunning and we really enjoyed lounging at the pool and playing around in the games room. Stephanie was an amazing host. This place is a true gem and much more special/unique than most hotels we have stayed at. We will definitely be back next year!

I had no idea when i booked this hotel that I would be in an absolutely tiny room barely big enough for a bed and no bathroom. Had to share bathroom and shower facilities with other guests. Not cool man
