Located in Port Hardy, 4.5 miles from Port Hardy Ferry Terminal, Port Hardy Cabins provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking and barbecue facilities. We rented an awesome little log cabin. The room was cosy and welcoming. The location great and the staff very flexible. We actually forgot a phone in the cabin and left for the port to take the ferry at 5:30am! I called the property and the host came over to open up the cabin (key was left inside). Thank you so so much for doing that! You saved us a lot of hassle.

Port McNeill (Near Port Hardy)
Humpback Inn provides accommodations in Port McNeill. The motel also has free WiFi and free private parking. Great location, price per night was excellent, lots of parking and minutes walk from pretty much everything
A great little quiet town with trails nearby and a good place to access the NW tip of the island from. It's beautiful and we could see wildlife right out our window or as we walked along the boardwalk.
Its a great place to go see wildlife (bears crossing the road, great whale watching available), go hiking and do wilderness excursions but there is very little to do in town itself with particularly limited options for keeping younger kids entertained. There is a nice sandy beach on the Port Rupert side but it can get windy.
Travelers should remember to: 1) fuel-up before leaving town/carry a jerry can. Gas stations are far and few north of Port Hardy 2) pre-load your gps navigation in town/ bring a paper map as backup. Expect cellular phone coverage to be only in town and patchy in various spots. For city people: if you're going on an intensive adventure, satellite communication device is highly recommended for safety.
Port Hardy is a beautiful seaside and island escape. Take a trip downtown and review the port and what the boats along the waterfront. Amazing little shops along the way to explore. Try the local eatery scene - you'll be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the experience. I cannot wait to go back and explore some more. The Glen Lyon Restaurant has an amazing menu and the food is delicious.
I may be doing it an injustice as it was right at the end of summer, but there didn't appear to be that much to do in Port Hardy, especially when it rains, but it's a pretty place with plenty of places to walk to to see wildlife. Apparently there's a good coffee shop, but we didn't find it!
Would recommend Sporty's for dinner and drinks. Market Street Café for breakfast. Good prices and good food at both establishments. Location of Pt Hardy is crucial to other small towns in that part of BC both on Vcr Island and small coastal communities on the mainland.
Port Hardy
It was a big hostel, quiet even when fully booked, with clean kitchens and bathrooms, plenty of towels to go around, and it’s right in the middle of everything in Port Hardy. Would definitely stay again, especially since they go above and beyond to help a lost traveller. I missed my ferry and it was the long weekend, but they were able to help me out even if it was pretty busy. Ended up having a beautiful relaxing weekend in Port Hardy.
Port Hardy
The Cabins at Port Hardy RV are exceptionally clean and tidy. They are "like new". Ample soft towels, kitchen items and a small fridge with a freezer. Check in was seamless and accurate. They were able to safely store my luggage for a few hours so I could go out hiking as I was too early to check in. Wonderful grounds with a walk around an estuary with tons of bird viewing :-)
We visited during Covid and the property did an excellent job preparing and executing a safe plan for guests to pick up keys and to stay socially distanced from all people. Host that met us was super nice and our room was perfect! Balcony over-looking the water, comfortable queen beds, fridge, jacuzzi tub! Definitely a great place to stay in Port Hardy!
Port Hardy
One of only a few hotels in Port Hardy, this is well located on the marina with harbour views from all rooms. Watching four bald eagles play outside the window was a bonus. It is especially close to the water taxi for access to the North Coast Trail. The staff was friendly, the facility was clean and the beds comfortable.

Port Hardy
Port Hardy is totally booked every second day in the summer, due to the ferry to and from Prince Rupert. When I booked it was my only option. The location works well, and it’s quiet. The staff are vigilant about party people disturbing others, and walk around the property often.
Excellent and comfort hotel very clean and close to down town
