Champery is a quiet, pretty little Swiss village on the edge of a stunning ski area. There is ample choice of small restaurants in the village and once you are up the mountain (via chairlift or telepherique) you have access to one of the largest lifted ski areas in the world. If the snow is not great, there is actually very little to do in the village in winter, so keep that in mind.
Difficult to be negative as I have been coming here for years and have my own apartment in the village which was occupied by one of my daughters and family this time. Village is also great in the summer Good indoor and outdoor pool and walking in the mountains Skiing normally good but the whole area had no snow this time .
Biggest skiing region in Europe. More than 600km of slopes of all levels of difficulty (even green ones :), appx 100km in Switzerland, 500km in France. Fantastic mountain scenery. Swiss chalets all over …
If you like alpine hiking, then I highly recommend going to Champery for a couple of days. The hikes up both sides of the valley from town are really nice - epic views, with steep trails that will really give you a good workout. The town itself is compact, and pretty lively (there was a "Jazz and Wine" event throughout town one evening I was there). There also are plenty of active things to do, including e-mountain biking, a rope park, paragliding, etc. Overall, a lovely place for a short alpine get-away.
Champery has access to Les Portes du Soleil which offer a vast domain of trails. For that it is great. It is easy to join Avoriaz on the French side. The only doznside of Champery is that you have to take a Gondola to reach the slopes, but it is quite fast (10 minutes)
A traditional Swiss village with friendly welcoming people. Some excellent amenities including heated pool, skate ring, good range of bars and restaurants including a lovely crêperie (do visit Lea!) some nice shops and of course access to one of the best ski domains. Cable car takes 5 minutes to the top and gives you access to the Swiss side but also the enormous French side. Regular shuttles and train ensure painless transfer from cable car around the village. Train connection from Aigle hourly means efficient in/out. Great choice for multi generational families.
Champéry
I cannot recommend Chalet Hestia enough, everything was perfect, welcoming and Christophe was only a door bell away if we needed anything (even down to Swiss adaptors when we didn't bring any!!). A lovely, warm and welcoming family, if we return to Champery we will 100% be staying here! 😊🎿
Champéry
Spacious apartment. kitchen has oven and hob but no microwave. Views are spectacular. 5-10min walk to Champery village high street. Further to the gondola (we didn’t walk it but I would estimate 15 mins down and maybe 20 min walk back up (assuming you have skis to carry))
A very clean, stylishly decorated hotel where the owners have an attention to the detail and love for modern design and trends. An absolutely clean, smelling good and new place with a beautiful view. I would love to come again for sure.
