Nice old town but not overwhelming.
Nice old town but not overwhelming. We used it as a base for our exploration of Graubunden. After seeing Pontresina, I wished I had made that our home base.
Churfest was a nice surprise. It made our stay more exciting. Lots of carnival rides, music, food and drink. I tried a Graubunden specialty, Malun and Capuns. We had them at Churfest and were underwhelmed. Probably I should not judge the cuisine by what I get a festival. Maybe I will try them at an established restaurant next time.

Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland.
Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland. It is surrounded by mountains and has a gondola in walking distance. The city is small enough to walk around, has many old buildings, a festive atmosphere with all the flags, as well as good restaurants with street fronts.

Chur is a starting point for the Bernina Express and a major stop on the Glacier Express route. We managed both journeys from there. The town has an interesting history and is very pleasant to wander around. It has a less intimidating feel to it than bigger cities - we arrived in the middle of a local festival parade which celebrated all the local villages which look to Chur as the main town.

Chur is a small town and not much to do in itself but lively on Saturday nights -- seems a lot of people were out in the old town streets. We got there to take Bernina express train, and then go to Zurich.

The city of Chur was good, the accommodations were in a great location but so sparse and minimal we didn’t stay. It is furnished like a youth hostel. Not for seasoned travelers who expect good lodging.

Chur is a start/finish point for the Glacier Express and...
Chur is a start/finish point for the Glacier Express and Bernina Express / Red line. We completed both trips which were spectacular. We also took the train to Arosa for 30 CHF return. Chur has some nice old buildings, plenty of restaurants and shops, and the local museums are interesting and free with the guest card from the hotel.

We like these two apartments and thanks for arranging us on the same floor. It's a quiet neighborhood a little bit far away from the train station(need to walk around 10~15 minutes while pulling luggage). However we love the buildings and atmosphere when we walk in the alley to find the pictures on the wall, church, stores, and supermarket. We love Chur, and hope someday we'll go back and stay for a few more days to explore the oldest city in Switzerland.

I really liked the hotel. The room was quite clean. The staff were polite. There were plenty of power outlets in the room, which is essential when traveling. The hotel was very quiet. The location is perfect. Everything was very convenient.
The breakfasts were the best among all the places we stayed at in Switzerland: Swiss cheeses, various cold cuts, champagne, hot sausages, and scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious!

The hotel is in a great, central location in the old town of Chur. The staff were so helpful. We were given a tourist pass that meant we got discounted or free access to things in the town, including the cable car and the town museum. Absolutely loved the free water fountains everywhere in town and the misters for cooling down.

We arrived after midnight and the checkin was very easy. The staff very helpfull. I loved the cookie present when we checked out . The location is beautiful . Right beside the hotel there is a mini supermarket and the bus-stop that takes you to Chur’s central station.

Excellent hotel in the beautiful old town. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Good price. Close to the bus stop (Chur Malteser) and about 700m from the train. Shared toilets/shower rooms but they were clean and the shower was excellent. No lift but I knew about that.
