We had a wonderful family weekend at the Hotel Walther. The hotel itself is beautiful, the room we had was bright, spacious and had a nice view on one of the surronding mountains. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The food and drinks offer is tremendous, we've had one dinner at the Grand Restaurant and one at the Colani Stübli and both were excellent. Our 6-year old son had a great time. He particularly enjoyed the playroom and the swimming pool, plus the afternoon cakes served in the lobby (he described the ricotta and chocolate cake as the best he's ever had:) Also the fact that the small and simpler skiing slopes for children (and some older beginners;) are within 10 minutes walk from the hotel was a big plus for all three of us. We will definitely be coming back!

We lived Pontresina! Oh my the beauty and the care in providing the world's best x/c trails - extensive!! The information at the tourist center and put out by the tourist center is over the top. The Pontresina community is whole hearted about extending hospitality and top notch tourist adventure and experience. The only thing that was a bit forbidding for us was the expense in eating out. There are not any less expensive places to grab a quick meal. It is an expensive area to visit EXCEPT the x/c skiing is of great value! This is offered by the hotels and/or a free bus-train pass. We really appreciated the skit trail pass that came with our room!!!'
A beautiful small town with incredible views and a very clean environment. Great hotels and a good value youth hostel. Great skiing opportunities together with a wonderful train journey to reach this destination from Zurich. Excellent restaurants and fantastic spas - one of which is available on the high street whilst others are hidden in exquisite hotels. A brilliant lunch and kaffee und kuchen available to all at the Pontresina Youth hostel - a perfect place to practise cross country skiing. There is an open air ice rink free to visitors - at a lovely location to one end of the town. We found a friendly wine bar with long opening hours. A tourist office and post office can provide other services such as group skiing lessons and postage to abroad. The shops are quite small but pretty. There is also a little chalet offering traditional Swiss fondues. The town is set on a hill with the railway station situated in the valley. There are buses to nearby towns and ski lifts. This is a beautiful place to visit although the night life is limited. The town spa stays open in the evening and also has a small cafe. Swimming outside surrounded by mountains is very uplifting!
Pontresina is well situated, right on the Bernina Express line and basically near the confluence of the Bernina and Inn rivers, with easy access to the valley of the Inn and the valleys to the south going to the Italian border. Make sure to stay 2 or more nights and get the Engadin card that includes Bergbahn (mountain trains, e.g., trams, funiculars, chair lifts, gondolas and cable cars) so that you have access to all the wonderful high mountain areas in the region at no additional cost. In summer it is hiking paradise, in winter a winter sport hub, and in the fall is ablaze with golden larches.
Loads to do: cross country skiing, downhill, walking, ice climbing and more. Access to a brilliant mountain and lakes without being in St Moritz. Easy to access all that the area has. Peaceful and calm
Really nice restaurants (specially Crap de Fo and the Fondue stübli from Sporthotel). The train station is a bit out of town but there is great bus services (getting a day pass is a great idea). Amazing place to ski, cross-country ski, snow-shoe hike, just hike....simply wonderful natural activities all around you.
Pontresina is well placed for an advert urge in the Engadine valley. It is quite central and has all the facilities and amenities you could need. The ski school and a very good mountain walking and climbing school is also quite central to the town. The people are friendly. The variety of restaurant is great, in season, and sufficient out of season. Be sure to head up the ski lift to Alp Languard and have a tea / coffee and cake at the hut at the top. Also, must visit the Station Restaurant for the best Italian food in Pontresina...courtesy of Roberto and co. Dont expect cheap / affordable outings. It is Switzerland. It is an exceptional place though.
I have stayed here for 3 times while travelling for work. it is a really good hotel with some comfortable rooms and at an amazing location, just a few meters from the railway station. The parking is also nice. Staff are quite nice and helpful. PS. if the attendant at the breakfast asks you not to touch things, do not feel bad. it is corona time and he is just following safety guidelines. ask him and he will serve you.
Pontresina
For what it is - you couldn't ask for more. After experiencing grungy youth hostels in e.g. London, this is a breath of fresh air. Everything is clean, and I mean Swiss-level clean, the food is of good quality and abundant. In fact, much better quality than I expected. The value for money is excellent. A surprise in overpriced Switzerland.
It is our second time in this lovely hotel. It will be our first choice in this area if we come again. They have good quality kids size one time use slippers, which surprises me a bit. Beds are so comfortable and the restaurant is also very good. The free pick up service from train station is also so convenient.
I would give this hotel 4 Stars. But I think its better to be an outstanding 3* than an „ok“. 4 *. The rooms are very spacious, the staff is extremely professional and friendly, great parking facilities especially for electric cars. I had no time to try the spa :( .
brilliant mtn location, in the Bernina pass with beautiful views and pure nature - but just a few minutes from Pontresina and the Engadin. great skiing at your doorstep with Diavolezza and Lagalb, on piste or touring/snowshoeing.
Very good quality hotel. Excellent location, close to various hiking and cycling trails. There is a bus stop next to the hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms, good spa facilities Excellent restaurant for dinner with variable choice!
Loved everything about the hotel. Breakfast was certainly a highlight. Front desk staff (Stephanie, Diana and Brigette) were exceedingly helpful, amenities such as sauna and reading room were greatly appreciated.
The service at this hotel was very good and I was impressed. From the moment we arrive at the hotel, there are dedicated staff to serve every guest. It is very polite and I enjoy it very much.
Remote, secluded, but easily accessible by car. This place was quite a gem of a find! We are family of 3 with a dog. Hotel and breakfast were perfect for our short stay!
Great location in Pontresina, Friendly staff, nice facilities, underground parking. Public Transport passes were included in the price, train and bus very close by.
The staff was very professional staff and helpful. Breakfast was good and plenty. The location of the hotel is central. Good view from the window.
Amazing attention to detail from the hotel owners and all their staff. Great service and food. All in all they made our holiday truly memorable.

We really enjoyed our stay! They offer dinner as an add on and it was great food and excellent value. Breakfast was a large buffet, with so many delicious options. There are so many things available to do in the surrounding area.
Best breakfast I have had in a long time. Anything you could have wished for was there and top quality. Super friendly and helpful staff!!! Nice spacious room and bathroom. Comfortable beds.
Breakfast had an amazing selection and the espresso machine was a special treat! Had dinner one night in the dining room and it was delicious, too.
