Ancud
Located in Ancud in the Chiloe region, domoschiloe has accommodations with free private parking. Amazing dome, very clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. The owner couldn't have been friendlier and easy going, flexible with the checkin and checkout times. He had started the fire in the wood burner for us, which was amazing on a chilly and rainy evening, and definitely enough to keep the place warm. The little kitchen had enough of everything for a simple meal. Good location close to downtown Ancud and just off the main road if you are like us coming from the ferry. We only wish we could have stayed longer than one night. One of the most memorable stays in our two weeks in Chile, and we had stayed in The Singular and the Ritz-Carlton in Santiago and Nayara Atacama on the same trip, but this place had a soul.
Better weather, but can't do anything about that, would have helped with the views. The two Spanish forts are brilliant; we had them to ourselves. The views were amazing and if we had had time we could have spent longer on the little beaches although if was not the season for sun bathing. A frew things to do in town, but we loved the hotel and people.
It is still rather nice but we got twice terrible food and a rip off at the open air restaurants at the market. Four years ago we ate there every day and the food was great food. Now it was bad quality and horribly prepared I think they start seeing tourists as easy money.
Bustling sea town, defeinately cooler than even Puerto Varas, some nice bars and restaurants, nice to spend two days in wandering through town, artisans markets but mainly for us to see the penguins and short tour / viewpoints in the area.... Nice place to eat, cafe blanco
Ideal location for exploring northern part of Chiloe. Local busses great way to get about. You could easily spend a week visiting small villages, walking, birdwatching etc. Great local markets and excellent seafood.
Expect to be hassled on the streets much more than in other towns. We only spent the nights in Ancud and during the day we drove around Chiloe. We went to national parks and penguin watching. Plenty of places where to eat at a very afforable price.
Ancud is a busy, down to earth and traditional fishing town. This is more like what real life in Chile is, away from the fancy touristic destinations intended to get your money. Buying fresh merlusa in the market and getting a beautiful wool poncho for a reasonable price was great too! The Ancud museum was a treat! Go to Ancud and support the local economy while experiencing real life as chilenos live it.
Interesting hotel - like a log cabin including the bedroom, which was however very small, but fine for the one night. Good breakfast, loved the upstairs lounge and views, décor and carvings in the public rooms. Good breakfast and dinner. Staff lovely. Free car park at front; You need a car. Suggest a visit to the two Spanish forts in the area; both worth a visit.
Beautiful location on the coast with incredible views. Be sure to bring your suit to soak in the hot tub and enjoy the sunset! The typical Chilean breakfast was served in a picturesque dining area with large windows to the beautiful gardens. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive.
Ancud
Reception staff were very welcoming, helpful and efficient. The restaurant (Mon-Fri) is fabulous: the dishes on the fixed menu are original and based on Chiloé cuisine. The hotel overlooks the bay, has spacious parking and has very pleasant communal areas.

Staff members shine in this fun and relaxing Backpackers hostel in Ancud. Spacious common areas with plenty of comfortable places to hang or being alone. Nice pisco sour at the bar after 7pm to wind down from the day. Highly recommend for solo travelers.

Liked the helpful staff, the space in the room, comfortable beds. And the breakfast was lovely too. We liked taking a walk into Ancud and leave our car behind in the safe parking of the hostel.
Beautiful sea view, nice staff (reception guy was kind and spoke English), tasty breakfast, the design of the hotel is lovely.
