Valdivia is a beautiful City, with many activities. A trip to the Fort in Niebla is worth the $1.25 bus fare. Downside to Valdivia is the graffiti and vandalism to the businesses and churches. It makes the City feel unsafe for visitors.
The city is very beautiful and there are several parks and places for walking. I recommend renting a vehicle to tour the nearest lakes and tourist attractions that are not in the city. Be sure to try the craft beers, which are everywhere.
One of the most beautiful cities in the North of Chile. People are friendly and super interested in ones well being. The beer and food at some of the places were totally out of this world and very delicious like the seafood and meat dishes on offer in the area. A must is a visit to Cafe Hausemann to taste the Crudo (a raw meat dish with various accompliments . Then the El Growler and Bundor Pubs in the centre that makes some of the regions best Artisanal Cervezas/Beers . A bit out of town is the Kuntsmann Brewery for Valdivian Beers and some good german foods. (Das Guten Bier is their Slogal) A visit to the Fort at Niebla is a must for every traveller and a good exposure to the history of Valdivia and the town.
Valdivia it's a very beautiful city with a loot of activities in the summer and winter. The people is very nice and the food is excellent. There are a lot of historical places to go in the surrounding citys like Corral or Niebla that have historical fortresses and traditional fairs. There are a lot of parks and a botanical garden in Isla Teja, a neighborhood that you can access walking or in bus in short time. Actually Valdivia is a place where you can walk everywhere without problem, even if it looks fat in a map it's really not that far. Food is a little expensive so the best option is to go to places that have a pre determined menu with a first course, a main course, dessert and beverage. For the beer lovers there's a famous brewery and restaurant called Kunstmann.
There is a lot of history to soak up on Valdivia. The museums are good, but get to the forts in Niebla and Corral. Lots of food, the fish market and the many bars serving craft beers. It’s a great place to visit.
We were only there for a stop over but the Hotel del Rio provided us an upgrade with a great view, a great dinner and good attitude. Its on the other side of the river to the city, but that is why the view is so good. Valdivia has history, culture, great restaurants and great beer. The wharf is good fun but we didnt have time to take any of the boat trips.
Absolutely wonderful bed and breakfast in cozy house in the countryside just 10 minutes from Valdivia, with beautiful views over the bay. Very friendly hosts, lovely, comfortable room, great breakfast, and even a small pool, although there is a little rocky beach at 5 minutes walking too. We had a great time.
Great location, wholesome breakfast, and a very good customer service. Staff worked really hard in order to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is on a quiet street, close to the river, so it’s possible to walk everywhere. Car parking is very safe and right across the street. We will be back.
Valdivia
Valdivia is a fun town. I also love the cubby style bunks, the privacy, the fact that I can jump in and out of the top bunk without jarring the bottom bunk's sleeping occupant. I get my own private outlet and lamp and curtain to draw close... I love it.
