Goslar has a real late medieval atmosphere. Cute streets and places everywhere. Brauhaus at Marktplatz is a good choice for having a delicious German dinner. You can also have breakfast at Markplatz at Cafe am Markt or in the hotel next to it even if you don't want to accommodate in it. Goslar's beer Gose is very tasty.
Our stay here was really short so didn't get to see inside any of the shops and bars, however it looked idyllic and somewhere we must go back to. It has all of the appeal of a traditional German or Austrian town and is why you travel to these places to soak up the history and the culture. We arrived late to Goslar but luckily one of the bars still served us food at around 9pm, curry-wurst and chips. Exactly what a weary traveller needs.
An old and historical town at the foot of the Harz Mountains. The city is relative small and all the sensations and interesting points can be reached by foot. The old part is well preserved and still original. There are several museums from art to history (Museum Goslar) and mining (Mining Museum Rammelsberg) The city also offer at least in the old center a relative wide range of cafes and restaurants. It is a good location for to visit other villages in the Harz Mountains or for go hiking. Goslar is good connected by public transport and train.
Goslar is great for a weekend. But that's it... Take some walks around the old city, make a hike to/in Harz and see the mines if you are not scared of small spaces and have a lot of "baumkuchen"
Old city centre with lots of little streets lined with old homes. Very beautiful. The town square is very picturesque. We were there for the Christmas festive season. The prettiest decorations I have seen. The best fun market. Happy crowds of people, all dressed for the cold, gave a deep warmth to the atmosphere. A really great place to spend Christmas and New Year. We ate at Die Worthmuhle several times: we just had to keep going back. At first because they welcomed us after other diners had left, and then because the food and staff were so good. We tried a couple of pubs on the square itself, and they were fine too. The mulled wine from the market was great!
a charming medieval town with many original buildings. it is also a good starting point to explore the Harz mountains. If you like good food you wont be disappointed with both local and international cuisine. If you are into hiking you would be well served to start here
Very welcoming front desk lady (speaks English, what is quite rare, especially in East Germany hotels). We got a room with separate entry and small but cozy deck. Our car was parked few meters away. The room was spacious and clean, nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast with very wide choice of tasty food. Hotel located nearly in a center of fairy tale town Goslar. Few minutes of walk and you are in medieval surroundings accommodated by nice restaurants and shops. Goslar is impressive. Worth for visiting again for longer stay.
Loved the location, in the historic heart of Goslar. The host was very forthcomming and understanding. The appartment I had was on the uppermost floor, with a lovely view and had everything one would want. There were even some apples and refreshments in the kitchen. I came by car, and found a parking space nearby. The appartment is perfect for exploring the old town, but also for some hikes in the surrounding area.
The hotel is in a 500-year-old building; you can feel the history. The interiors are updated to modern comfort levels. The location cannot be better for seeing the important sites in Goslar. The breakfasts are excellent. The people are friendly. The price was very reasonable.
Location was very good, very close to the city centre and as well the train station and main attractions. Personal was very helpful and friendly. All was quite clean and clear as well with the current Corona virus situation. Nice charming old hotel.
Located a hundred meters from the center of Goslar. You can pay for a parking spot at the hotel but close by there is also a parking area. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is simple and sufficient. All in all it was a good stay!
Big hotel right next to the station. This is a big city hotel with all the comfort of that. Terrasses, bars, restaurant, fitness and pool - and staff to follow... Nice stay, and Goslar is a really nice town
The place was extremely comfy. Since the family rents two rooms in their house the family feel is present. The beautiful garden and the handmade breakfast delighted us. Will return if we visit Goslar again.
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and the included breakfast was amazing with cook to order eggs. Everything was great!
