Very neat old castle with modern updates. Clean and comfortable rooms with unique features. Stopped here for a night on a bicycle tour - it was a slight detour from the route but well worth any extra pedal strokes to get here!

The property was ok…the host was very unhelpful. Initially we were excited to see that there was a washing machine. We are on a two month bicycling trip and were eager to wash some clothes. Before arriving we asked the host if he could provide laundry detergent for one load…he said no. If you want five stars you need to provide the little extras. One laundry pod is not beyond expectations. We arrived and asked about wifi password…instead of having it written down or sending it to us, he told us to look on the back of the router which was mounted on the wall… a bit of a hassle trying to get it off the wall as we didn’t know how it was mounted. Lastly, what really ticked us off as there were no towels! We asked about towels and he said that they weren’t provided. According to him the website said that they weren’t provide, but we told him we did not see where it said that. He then admitted that it didn’t say that. BUT he never apologized or most importantly offered to get towels to us. So, although the place was nice, the host was so bad that we would never stay there again, nor would we recommend it to others.

Very nice furnished room; bed, kitchen and bathroom was very clean. You got all kitchen tools you need for a short stay at hand. Parking was no problem.

We came for the Oktoberfest in Xanten; the Burg Boetzelaar...

We came for the Oktoberfest in Xanten; the Burg Boetzelaar was very affordable and nearby so the perfect location. We were pleasantly surprised by the other cities near Xanten; like Kalkar. Clean, Quiet, Friendly staff of the amenities there. We're definately going back to stay there again. Would recommend it to anyone.
