We just stayed overnight before catching the ferry to Oslo so didn’t have much time to explore Kiel. But the hotel was ideally located - just literally a few minutes away form the Color line terminal, was very comfortable with private parking, and extremely helpful receptionist.

On a wet Sunday morning in Kiel, the maritime museum on the harbourside was a welcome find. A survey of the city's history from fishing to 19th century yachting regattas, and of course the Naval heritage. Good English translations . Friendly staff.

Kiel is a City that is very welcoming and where it is easy to get around. There is plenty of activities and things to look at in museums and shops. Easy and many (cheap) shopping possibilities and many good restaurants. Certainly worth a visit.

Kiel seems to be a nice town with a broad range of shops an amenities. We did not go there by choice, but to attend a family event involving the death of a close relative. Our stay was short so I am not the best person to give an opinion, but the amenities we did use were fine. There were some nice restaurants. The big event there is Kiel week, when the harbour filled up with boats. Kiel week took place during our stay and we saw some magnificent three masted schooners sailing along the Kiel canal. At the Baltic end of the canal we saw a regatta, of small yachts sailing about in a very disciplined way. If visitors pick the dates of their visit carefully they can have a very interesting stay, but of course, when these events are taking place, prices rise quite a lot.

A bit laid back town, very nice vibe - no hurry or rush in the city. The sea-side area in winter was cold and windy, but still a nice place to see (maybe not stay). There was a nice christmas market with stalls on the square.

Not a real tourist town. Nothing to really encourage people to stay there. Do not bother to ask police for assistance or information, too much effort for them. The information centre needs better souvenirs.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and showed us around the property, explained all the appliances and remained available for any questions the whole length of our stay. The apartment was the perfect base for us to visit family in Kiel; I loved the separate entrance and quiet of the neighbourhood. While we didn't cook (or even eat) there, having a kettle was absolutely brilliant as it is missing from most German hotels/rentals! We'll definitely be back here!

It’s a beautiful and well maintained building in a very good, safe neighbourhood. We stay here once a year as it’s so convenient to then catch the Kiel to Oslo ferry the next day.
We had a suite overlooking the gardens which was airy and comfortable and enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the hotel’s restaurant.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It is immaculately clean, beautifully themed, super comfortable, and quiet for a great night’s sleep. Staff are so welcoming, the trust bar is a great space and the breakfast is delicious. Would return and will highly recommend to others.
