Mittenwald is about 1.5 hours from Munich airport and close...
Mittenwald is about 1.5 hours from Munich airport and close to the Austrian border. It's position is perfect for mountain hiking in both the Karwendel and Wendelstein ranges. It's far less crowded than Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I did two major day hikes in late June in fairly hot weather (32C in the town). There are at least 4-5 full-day hikes that start within easy reach of the hotel. If you don't want Bavarian cuisine every night, there are plenty of alternative restaurants and even in June booking didn't seem necessary.

Mittenwald is a charming town with great restaurants and lovely shops. We ate at Osteria Bella Vista, Wildfang and Joseph's twice, never had a bad meal! The outdoor opportunities are endless and more lovely towns a short distance away, especially Seefeld. We'd love to go back in the summer!

A beautiful little town in the mountains.
A beautiful little town in the mountains. There are sooo many choices of where to eat. Walking around oldtown is a treat with the paintings on the buildings, views of the mountains and decisions of where to eat. Oldtown is completely walkable.

Picture perfect Mittenwald has the perfect balance of of beautiful buildings, plenty of food options, and beautiful shops. We enjoyed spending an afternoon hiking the nearby Leutasch-Klamm Wasserfallsteig.

We've been to Mittenwald many times and it's one of my favorite places in the region. It's a beautiful village with lots to see and do. There are many places to hike and a cable car trip to the top of Karwendel is a great way to spend a day.

Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests.
Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests. The historical city centre has a number of sights and a good choice of restaurants - for many the real beauty begins once you leave the city. From taking cable cars, walking along the river or through the forest to climbing peaks up to around 2,500 m, the natural surroundings are stunning. The city does a good job at offering public buses that take tourists to the most important sights and trailheads, giving us the chance to leave the car at home and help preserve the gem that Mittenwald is!

It was very cosy, clean and warm. The hostess was very friendly. The place, where situated the haus, is very beautiful, the view from the balcony is stunning, but a little bit far away from the railway station.
Wir are very thankful for hospitality and I can honestly recommend it!
P.S. Who don't know - you have an opportunity to visit a swimming pool and sauna in Hotel Post, it's not far away from the haus and costs nicht too much. With children - must have!

Lovely hotel in Mittenwald, central for shops, restaurants and cable car. Friendly, welcoming staff and good food and facilities. Very clean and accommodating. There are recycle bins in the car park out front which could be noisy early morning, later at night and also a supermarket next door. If this would bother you may be an idea to ask for a quiet room.

I've stayed there many times (since ~ 20 years ago), and I have never been disappointed. Great location, comfortable rooms and facilities, very friendly and helpful staff, and one of the oldest and most established hotels in Mittenwald - yet constantly being renovated to meet the highest standards.

We loved our stay here! Location is beautiful, although it’s a fair distance to walk to Mittenwald. If you like walking/ hiking, it’s a stunning & enjoyable walk. The owners are wonderful & so so kind! Breakfast was plentiful & delicious. I’d definitely stay here again 😊
