Hotel Uhland is a beautifully decorated period property in a fabulous leafy location, close to the train station. We stayed in a large room with a lovely view overlooking the street. The double bed and sofa bed were exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast room is a very charming and comfortable airy space. Breakfast was the usual continental selection and the coffee was good. Lovely staff helped to contribute to the pleasant, relaxed ambience of the hotel. We'd be happy to stay here again.

Location is perfect. All interaction with the staff prior to arrival and during the stay was excellent, they consistently and efficiently managed everything. The room was lovely and I asked for a soft topper on the bed and feather pillows (I like a soft bed) and this was done without question. I changed rooms during the booking and this was also managed so well, no waiting and the staff made sure the rooms were next to each other to make it easier for me. It was an outstanding stay!

Munich FAQ: Tips for every trip

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is another commercial wonderland square that takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city centre from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

I can't begin to explain how beautiful Munich is!

I can't begin to explain how beautiful Munich is! I visited in July with plan to only attend a concert on Allianz Arena and maybe do some sightseeing while I'm there. Well... the city swept me off my feet! It's gorgeous 😍 I spent all of my time outside of the concert to see as much as I could, each corner of the old town and surrounding streets and buildings had something new to offer. Great food, great attractions, feast for the eyes and you can go by using English everywhere. It was a total surprise for me, as if it weren't for the event I went for, I probably would have never put Munich on my list of places to visit and what a shame that would have been! Recommend to anyone that enjoys beautiful architecture, big cities with soul and history, and higher temperatures during summer. It was over 30 all 3 days I was there in July. Places I enjoyed most - definitely old town, you can spend 2 or more days just walking around the old town, visiting museums and landmarks Restaurants - a must visit is the Hofbräuhaus in the old town. No words can explain the atmosphere and the food there! 🤤 We mostly used taxis for moving around due to tight schedule, but the public transport is great and if we had more time to figure it out we would use it next time.

Munich is full of greenery and nature which iI find really relaxing in a city. My son lives in Munich so I will visit often but more importantly I really enjoy it there. I especially love the English Gardens, the river, watching the surfing in the city and riding an e-bike around marvelling at the architecture. Go have a coffee at the Nespresso store at Marienplatz. They have a cafe upstairs that overlooks Marienplatz and one of best views of the square.

Munich is a wonderful city and definitely worth visiting.

Munich is a wonderful city and definitely worth visiting. We particularly enjoyed the English Garden, the German Museum, and the fascinating Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism (NS-Dokumentationszentrum München), located in the Maxvorstadt district on Brienner Straße. Each offers a unique insight into the city's history, culture, and heritage, making them well worth a visit.

Coming from Vienna and Salzburg, I felt Munich was a let...

Coming from Vienna and Salzburg, I felt Munich was a let down. It felt soulless and industrial. It is unfair to compare two cities in two countries, but even the cathedrals felt small after wandering around St Stephens. It felt like no effort was given for beautification, only towards efficiency. The newer buildings lacked any ornamentation, no flower beds and little parks in unexpected places. The Englisher Garden to lacked as many flowers as I would like, perhaps due to its style. And I consider the biergarten in the Englisher Garden a total rip off. You can enter, but not leave without buying anything, and the things were overpriced, plus they claim the 0.5 litre beer is unavailable so you are forced to buy the 1 litre mugs. The only consolation I had was from the Alte Pinakothek where I got to stare at Van Gogh and Monet, but even there an unethical character by the name of Abdel who ripped us of 2 Euros by collecting our tiny backpacks and hanging them in the cloakroom instead of telling us there were free lockers for that purpose, needless to say he gave us no receipts for it. Neuschwanstein castle was lovely, but it is not technically Munich. I don't think I will be coming back again.

There is so much to see and do in Munich.

There is so much to see and do in Munich. I love trying different beers so loved all the variety of breweries and beer gardens. Loved the English Garden and strongly recommend renting a bike on the edge of the park and biking through it, although I will admit following the map was not always easy in the park. Watching the surfers on the river was great. We also went and spent a day at the Dachau Concentration camp that was powerful and to do it right you need a minimum of 3-4 hours. It was hot so bring sunblock and water. We also did the supper on the Ferris Wheel which was great, a little pricey, but a cool different experience. Food was great with plenty of choices although I found food prices a little pricier than in Canada but beer and wine was cheaper (alcohol was not cheaper). I was amazed how difficult it was to get water without paying for it, so bring a water bottle and fill up before you go. Great city, felt safe but did not stay out after 10 pm. Great city and I hope to visit again!

Location was excellent - less than 5 min walk to Munich hbf Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, comfortable bed, great bathroom with good quality toiletries, excellent AC, faced courtyard and was really quiet at night. Complimentary tea, coffee, water and fruit available in lobby which was a lovely touch. Excellent Italian and bakery across the road. Would recommend King's Hotel for a city centre stay within easy walking distance of all historical sites, museums etc.

Very new hotel, so everything, lobby, restaurant rooms look fresh, but the interior and design is such that it can last a while, very friendly staff, very nice rooms, a very good restaurant even if you are not staying there. Breakfast is one of the best. Highly recommend. Location is not in the centre but that is an advantage for price level as well as tranquility and safe surroundings. Very good and clean hotel. The reception staff was very professional, friendly and happy to support with anything we needed. Also, the hotel is well-situated in Munich, allowing quick access to the city centre via tram or underground (both within walking distance). Finally, we were very pleased with the cleanliness and layout of our room which also had a solid thermal and acoustic insulation.
