Beautiful beach oasis in a big city. Very well kept both inside and out. Excellent service, multiple restaurants, spa and all staff really great. The direct beach access is fantastic and both the hotel and villas offer wonderfully comfortable accommodation choices.

Good people, great views, exceptional value. This is an older (much much older) property that offers an interesting glimpse into what life might have been like only a few generations ago in Alexandria. High ceilings, marble inlays, and fully functional vintage lifts. It’s been retrofitted to include modern amenities like ACs, but retains its old world charm. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and the property is directly on the seafront offering a great view of the Alex shoreline…

The room was clean, modern, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the beach and local shops. What truly made our experience unforgettable was the warm hospitality of the host. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Lovely room, better suited for a couple than a solo traveler. I was glad to discover that the ATM in front of the building, facing the sea, actually provided me with funds; unlike the majority of ATMs I've tried to use.

Alexandria is truly a beautiful city with so much charm and history. The weather was amazing—pleasant sea breeze, clear skies, and perfect temperatures for enjoying the beach and sightseeing. I loved the stunning Mediterranean views, the fresh seafood, and the relaxing coastal atmosphere. Walking along the Corniche was unforgettable, especially during sunset. The hospitality of the people made the trip even more special. Everything felt warm and welcoming, and it’s definitely a destination I would recommend for anyone looking for a mix of relaxation, culture, and great food. Can’t wait to visit again!

We are from Cape Town, South Africa, and Alexandria felt like home where people are friendly, warm and hospitable... they are also a lot more honest than what we experienced in Cairo! The beach water is amazing too

Alexandria is a city full of history and character, but it’s definitely an acquired taste—especially during the summer months from July through late September when it becomes extremely crowded. The traffic can be overwhelming and is by far the most frustrating part of the experience. That said, if you must visit, I highly recommend staying in the Montazah area. It offers a unique glimpse into Alexandria’s glorious past with its royal gardens and sea views—truly a nostalgic and serene corner of the city. For those seeking vibrant beach life and modern nightlife, the North Coast (Sahel) is a far better alternative than Alexandria during Summer season (July to September). Alexandria has its charm, but it shines brightest in the quieter, cooler winter months.

An amazing city with enormous history and significance. I wish I'd planned my trip better, but tourist information isn't hugely available. I think we saw two other Europeans there, which for me felt like a win in being somewhere not many have the bravery to try. A truly wonderful experience in a country where locals are genuinely welcoming, friendly and accommodating.

A mus visit city, I would say 5 days needed for a comprehensive first visit, walkable un most areas, I didn't find streets that you can't cross like many in Cairo, lots to see and do, the 5 days I recommend are enough to keep more for the second visit. There many great places to eat, see food and international too

I am married to a Greek Alexandrian.

I am married to a Greek Alexandrian. Visits in Alex are speaking to my heart. We are Egyptian dishes lovers so whatever I say would be not enough. Alex is my second home. Friendly people. Helpful. Food is superb. You may serve yourself with European dishes also. Gleem Bay and several other restaurants around Carrefour City Center Mall serve a lot of yummy dishes. So many places to go so many time. Historical parks . Zoo. Antoniades Gardens. The Library. Cavafys Museum. Greek Roman Museum. Catacombs. Shalalat.. Taxi is the easiest transportation and still cheap.

The hotel does not live up to five stars. His rating was 7.8, which does not match the rating. It is much less than that. The service doesn’t good. The beach is very dirty and the services are poor and sea dirty which doesn’t not possible to swim in it. The pool is crowded with Egyptians whose swimming in their clothes, it mean that no suitable to swim. The restaurant is very crowded and the service is not good. This is the second time that I have been disappointed in your evaluation of the level of hotels in Egypt.

I could write a whole essay about how good is it there. Plus the fact that it is downtown, the place has the true spirit of a hostel... you get to meet people who are social and nice, the staff is welcoming and veeeery helpful The vibe of Ithaka hostel captures the vibe of Alexandria. One of my best experiences in Egypt and I will definitely return. 💙 Don't hesitate to book this place

There are 4 rooms and one bathroom, but it is ok, everytime clean, although no shampoo. If you are lucky you'll get good room, we have the one with the terrace which was good, but there wasn't any table to put sth basic on. Kind staff, they provided me a hairdryer, which is rear for Egypt 😉

The staff was very kind, welcoming, and willing to help us with anything we needed. The location is also in a great position between the main tourist points. The double room we stayed in is quite large & quiet. Out of all the hotels we stayed in Egypt, we slept the best in this one.
