Embraced by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and caressed by the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city boasts a bustling harbour, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built in the 9th century during Islamic rule. Cascading down the slopes towards the city centre, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few kilometres away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cosy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!
We were out of the city in the mountains every day.
We were out of the city in the mountains every day. A visually stunnning landscape outside Alicante. We walked into the old town each evening for supper. We were fortunate that the weather was sunny and warm (22C during the day, 14C at night). We only drove through the new town and the commercial district.
When we drove to Benidorm on the last day it rained.
One can imagine the place being rowdy in the summer, but in December it is quite tranquil.

We enjoyed the easy access to the sights and restaurants of Alicante. The variety of restaurants was very good and reasonably priced.
We visited the castle, the famous bullring, a couple churches, the archeological museum which was excellent and the amazing food market. On our last day we took the tram to see beach in the next bay.

Alicante offers a wide range of activities and shopping options. The city is small enough that most people can get around on foot, and it also has various well-maintained beaches. Compared with other cities, I would consider Alicante as a perfect choice for families with children.

Awesome town on the coast.
Awesome town on the coast. Great train ride down from Valencia. Great mix of old and new. Awesome public transport and easy to walk around if you don't mind hills. Will stay for a week next tie instead of 4 days. Good bus to the airport.

This is a wonderful old building in the heart of Alicante, nicely converted to a modern hotel.
All members of staff were excellent. They were very welcoming and professional. The night porter was very helpful with our luggage and early departure by taxi.
The hotel is within a short walking distance of the airport bus and other public transport, including Alicante's excellent new tramway system. Everything in the city centre is within easy walking distance from here. This is a place where you can holiday well without a car.
The location was great. The hotel is right across the basilica. The hotel is in old building, its lovely, narrow corridors, it's cozy. It has a nice terrace, we did not make use of it but people were enjoying their evenings. They were so friendly that they let us check-in a bit earlier because we arrived quite early to Alicante. It's close to the city centre, we walked to the city and an just 10 minutes walk to the metro station to go to the beach.
Lovely hotel, ideally located for easy access to Alicante old town and all of the sites to see. Our room was fabulous with views over the sea and over marina. All staff were very friendly and efficient. We had breakfast both mornings, which offered a large choice. Two well equipped pools accommodated guests easily, with poolside bar too. We would highly recommend this hotel, and should we visit again, we'd definitely stay here.
We went to Alicante for the bonfires of San Juan and this hotel was a great place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice on where to go for the best views. Hotel is close to the city centre and not too far from the beach
Great hotel in a perfect city centre location, it will be our 'go to' hotel for future visits to Alicante.
Beware...we will be back!!
Fantastic shower in the room, very spacious.
Breakfast was great too.
Highly recommended.
