A slightly fancy city hotel (on the inside), maybe pushing to a higher standard - so everything was fine, slightly luxurious, well done, friendly, clean ... except that all told, in the end it has just the flair of what it is, a city hotel. But the location right in the center allows great walks along the impressive pulp factory (always worth seeing), along the lakeshores and down the streets. There is parking right across the street. The breakfast was good, the staff very friendly. My room was pretty large.

A unique location in an old building, with art work by former residents in display. There's a coffee shop below the apartment, that we didn't avail of - but the pastries smelled delicious. Our children loved playing on the Playstation console.

We came to see the largest altar fresco in the Nordic...

We came to see the largest altar fresco in the Nordic countries and a beautiful funky church. A great attraction in a small town! The bodies of water and beaches are also attractions, as is the long and enormously high bridge in the middle of the city.

Varkaus is a clean city. Cleaner than me.

Varkaus is a clean city. Cleaner than me. People there behave relatively politely. Some even friendly. We also received personal guidance or at least a tour guide at the museum. The cemetery had video surveillance. Or was it recorded? They must have a large stock of tapes.

An industrial town where there was no good place to eat.

An industrial town where there was no good place to eat. Amanda restaurant was recommended, but lunch was a poor presentation and the menu did not help matters, the food was tasteless and basic at a rather expensive price. The morning market was definitely the best in this town, another gem was the Väinolä Art Center's Naivists exhibition.

Torni Café was a nice place! Prisma was good for shopping.

Torni Café was a nice place! Prisma was good for shopping. We found everything we needed. Florist Tarja Ursin served us well. Everything went as expected. Kappahl, where we bought children's clothes, was also a good store, and the service was friendly and professional.

We didn't get to know Varkaus at all: we had already had a...

We didn't get to know Varkaus at all: we had already had a long drive, and we had another long drive the next morning, so all we had to do was take a sauna and sleep in our room. Next summer, we dream of coming to the same hotel and room and getting to know Varkaus and its surroundings better.

The property had a relaxed, homely feel about it. The gentleman in reception was very friendly and helpful, especially in helping us to find a parking spot as the hotel parking was full. The breakfast choice was very good. Lots of cereals and good healthy options.

This hotel is a hidden gem! We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the neighbourhood was beautiful and food was excellent. We especially enjoyed jogging in the park near by, hotel gym and lovely breakfast.

restaurant was nice, thought a bit pricey. electric car charging in front of hotel was superb! Breakfast was overall good but can be much better with few suggestions below.
